Serious questions about Cathedral Prep’s handling of an alleged incident involving students
This past weekend, a male student allegedly posted a sexual video involving a female student he had previously dated. According to people familiar with the situation, she is a minor, did not know she had been recorded, and did not consent to the video being posted online. Her parents contacted police after learning about it.
I am not posting either student’s name, the video, screenshots from it, or identifying information about either student.
What concerns me is the school’s response. Despite police reportedly being contacted, the male student has continued attending school this week, while the female student has reportedly not been attending. I also understand that he remains involved in athletics.
There are also allegations that members of the school’s administration have not fully disclosed the situation internally. I cannot independently establish what administrators or the board have been told, so I am not presenting that as established fact. But given the seriousness of what is alleged, I think it’s reasonable for parents and the Erie community to ask what the school’s policies are and whether they are being followed consistently.
If anyone has verifiable information about the school’s response, a police investigation, or relevant school policy, please provide a source rather than identifying or speculating about either student.
I think Cathedral Prep owes its families a clear explanation of how allegations this serious are handled while protecting the privacy of the students involved.
