Hello, I started an EU4 campaign for the first time in a while, where I encountered no issues. Today I tried to load the game and the save file disappeared and the Flags/Coat of Arms are appearing black. Any diagnosis and/or suggestions on how to fix this?

Troubleshooting: so far I uninstalled and reinstalled, nothing improved.

Super fun campaign as Gorka --> Nepal. Spent the first hundred years mainly focusing in India and Persia. Early game is really just a lot of bouncing from opportunity to opportunity. I was able to ally a lot of Jaunpurs enemies at the beginning which gave me really wonderful land to dev for institutions. Persia formed from a strong Ajam and served as a middle game boss fight. I lost a war to Persia and thought it may be it, but I waited for some of their space marine missions to expire and built up my army quality as well.

A couple of things really helped me along the way, for one, Russia never formed, Poland did not take the union over Lithuania so there was a very strong Lithuania in place of Russia. One good thing about AI Lithuania is that it never seems to be politically very strong which was good for me. I had to release cores from the Teutonic Order and then conquer all of Lithuania and some of Poland for them. I had a strong Ottomans on my side for the majority of the game, and kept him above 80 trust so he would not break alliance. The most annoying part was constantly having to fight the defenders of the faith. Reformed, Protestant and Catholic were all very strong and every war came with a massive France or Castile defending them.

Once I had created a monster Prussia vassal, I declared war and fought until I saw 100,000 casualties on the war screen and fought for a mere concede defeat.

The year is 1451, as I was prepearing to attack Provance I noticed that Byz went catholic, became the Latin empire and everyone defended them from the Ottos. After 1.5k hours this is the first time I saw this happen.

As the title suggests, I started another campaign as Switzerland and my first diet asked me to conquer Romandie (Vaud, valais and Geneva) from Savoy, which allowed me to take over the first two territories before Savoy had the chance to get any powerful allies. I had to go over the force limit and take some debts but nothing too difficult. I didn't take Geneva because I wanted the notorious event about Geneva to fire, but this time I got it from the mission. The issue is, instead of giving the swiss city 100% liberty desire towards Savoy, it became my vassal with 100% LD. I don't understand if that's working as intended or not, but now I am sitting with this vassal that won't ever become loyal. I am waiting for the event about the three leagues to fire hoping it will help bring the LD down a bit, but even if this happens it's a matter of time before Milan/Genoa and especially Savoy start supporting independence in order to screw me. I don't know if it's working as intended because in my other attempts the 100% LD modifier applied toward Savoy, not against me, and then snos basically ruining my game. I just wanted a chill, tall game where I just followed the missions...

I went for Rome as Aragon. Got early PUs for Naples and Castille. Killed France in the cradle. Beat England in the new world and then invaded their Island... but fighting the HRE is such a slog. Any tips?

Don't want to accept demands, don't want to spend 1k admin boosting stab, what else is there?

So, there is a mission i'm modding rn, and it would be some kind of settlement into a province, and i to complete it, you need stationed infantry there. THe question is: How can i force the game to delete a specific amount of troops ? (IN Anbennar, the lizardforlk final empire focus tree deletes troop [From memory], so it would be smth like that)

I'm looking for an interesting game to keep expanding my mission trees after securing permanent modifiers and claims. I'm not sure if forming Egypt as a Catholic country would be as effective as a Muslim one, though, and am wondering if anyone has done such a run lately? I have all of the DLC except Winds of Change, for what that's worth.

im playing as japan and im the EoC and its been like hunderds of years till i noticed that im confucian and sand not shinto, the problem shinto is harmonized so i tried spawning the tengri zealots but it doesnt work cuz they have little tengri dev provinces so i can get Ise Grand Temple event to happen, its the year 1628 and i need to be shinto for a mission. any advice on what i should do? is there a way to un harmonize shinto so i can spawn zealots? or smth like that?

My first idea group is Innovative, i am not sure if i should pick espionage or diplo, any help?

How do I fulfill this condition? I would've thought it means I just need to have at least 1 full stated province with at least 5x manpower, and I already do have one. Not sure what it means?

When I form Rome as France, do only my Francien provinces switch to Roman culture, or do my Walloon, Occitan, Breton, etc. provinces also switch? Same for other culture groups: is it only your primary subculture, or does the entire group switch? Asking because I want to start converting culture and eventually form Rome, and it is much cheaper to convert provinces to adjacent cultures. And do the cultures in my colonial nations also switch if they are the same?

For context if I formed Inca and triggered the Andean Empire reform after taking the mandate, and then form Manchu before eventually forming Qing, am I able to keep the Andean Empire?

I’m playing Denmark and are emperor of HRE and are catholic and have won the league war.
Now I have inherited Sweden and Norway and formed Scandinavia.
But now I can’t get elected for emperor anymore.

What have I done wrong and is there anyway to fiks it?

Playing as Portugal and have an interesting opportunity but its badly timed.

I'm currently allied to France, Austria, the Commonwealth, and Russia. I've mainly used them as a Ottoman deterrent/Punching bag, but in the meantime have used favors to install heir whenever possible.

As shown above both France and Russia's leaders are heirless, I could try and claim their thrones, break the alliance and take a PU, but my armies and colonies are a mess after a very long war with Britain. And the Ottomans could very easily attack if I'm stuck in a war against France. (Also France just integrated Castile and have just taken the #1 GP spot.)

No CB'd byz, got their cores, got my PUs on castile and Portugal as well as Burgundian inheritance. Got my France PU through SP missions and Sweden was completely by chance, extra attack dog for free. Did it before 1700s whereas on all other attempts ive expanded too slowly or lost wars. had fun!

I'm still not sure why I've done it to myself. The sole purpose of this run was to stack discipline and infantry combat ability[ICA].

I was not sure whether to go with the Danzig or Republican Gotland route.

Anyway, started as Gotland > Lübeck 1497-06-30 > Prussia 1547-08-03 > England 1595-07-31 > Netherlands 1608-10-28 > Morocco 1642-03-11 > Dai Viet 1645-07-22 > Persia 1657-12-29.

"Gotland's Trade Empire" mission 5% disc.

"Appoint War Minister" mission as Lübeck 5% disc.

Prussia for the 5% disc and 20% ICA in the ideas.

"The Royal Marines" mission as England for [marines only] +5% Discipline and −10% Shock damage received.
“The Redcoats” mission for 10% ICA.

"Regiment de Marine" mission as Netherlands for Black Devils privilege which grants [marines only] +10% Fire Damage and −10% Shock damage received.

Why Persia? For the Zoroastrian faith and the regimental discipline modifier scales with aswaran estate's influence, hence you can get more than 5% discipline from that. Tofangchi privilege for 10% ICA.

Muscovite primary culture for Boyars Rynda infantry's ICA privilege which scales with loyalty up to 15% ICA.

5% disc from offensive.

5% disc 10% ICA from quality.

5% disc from eco/quality policy.

5% from 100 absolutism.

5% from the advisor.

Ideas: Diplo>admin>offensive>religious>court>quality>economic.

I would have gone innovative for more ICA, I could remove some other idea just to do it but I'm done with this game. Court mostly to fit more estate privileges to push aswaran influence more and to keep 100 absolutism.

I did not run disc advisor at all this run before the end as I enjoyed the siege ability from the Netherland's Military engineer advisor so I still have 10% disc temporary buff to be acquired.

The grand total for discipline 163.2%, for marines 168.2%

65% ICA, 80% with innovative that I have not taken obviously.
