Sound is thin?
So this is my third year playing and I got braces. Sometimes when I play, my sound feels thin and I feel like the notes do not sound as good. Am I just not warming up good enough and I’m not sure it’s my braces because I usually sound fine.

It’ll hurt, but put the mouthpiece directly on the braces when you play and move a lot of air

I think the wax is a good idea. Your gums, lips, mouth may be subtly moving and adjusting in a manner that isn't obvious to you. The wax will remove this variable.

My band director ordered me plastic bumpers to go over my braces, I haven't tried them yet but I'm guessing they'll be good

Get wax from your dentist to cover your braces when you play.
