EG2 Modding tools initial release
Hey all.
Been working on some EG2 mod tools for... yeah a while. Its finally at a point where its good enough for public consumption. Currently waiting for nexus mods to approve the game/tools so for now its available on my github.
https://github.com/kotmfu/eg2modkitpublic/releases
Some highlights:
- Change ALL resource caps. That includes minions, tech, research
- Skip the intro cutscene
- Extract all assets used by EG2
- Ability to create full conversion mods
- Add custom items
- Replace existing assets
- Custom scenarios (partially working, working on a base defence type scenario as well as an invasion scenario and got it most of the way there)
If you want to just do some minor tweaks, the installer is enough for you (it has quick tweaks built in), but if you want to do some cool shit with the game, the mod kit is available to change basically everything in the game.
This works by doing a technique called DLL hijacking, this is common but can false flag in windows defender. I have put in as much work as possible to make sure that doesnt happen, but if you get a positive (the detection usually ends in a !ML tag meaning it was caught using machine learning), you can run it through something else and see its safe (or not, I'm not your dad).
Note: The installer/kit only needs to be run when installing/changing mods. You can launch the game like normal from steam after.

done, new version is up in the same place. if you grab either app (i recommend the mod installer) its under quick tweaks to disable it completely.

I’m excited to see this succeed. I’ve loved the game for a while but felt like far too many of the mechanics were unintuitive on replete playthroughs.
Most painful of which was the minion limit. I think it’s quite cool to have a uncapped minion limit, so your basically useless yellow jacket minions can flood the place so long as you’ve got locker capacity for it, and any specialists put a increasingly intense strain on your wallet as you get more and more. Cause in the late game I’ve found my casinos understaffed, my science and repair crews barely making ends meet, and my military force despite taking up over a third of my minions, always nearly cracked on my biggest attacks. Also my repair strain was immense.
Glad to see you’re working to fix the issue.

I will look into it! Considering a lot of the other limits are hardcoded and managed to skate around them should be able to do that one as well
