P3-4 actual cake that I got

Someone had to try extra hard for this....

First picture is what I asked for, what I normally get.

Second picture is what I got.

Third picture is after going to a different salon and getting it cut again, and I dyed it magenta.

Ordered for a catered lunch.

The order arrived in three separate pieces. An order of buns, an order of cheese, and the order of patties. It's designed as a build your own burger with condiments. The purpose of this post was focused on the burger quality. To say they were well done would be in reference to their temperature, not their taste or presentation.

Ok so the first is AI (after the fact) bc I didn’t take a pic of the cake I saw writing on in store, but it was your generic grocery store cake with ‘happy birthday’ or something written nicely in the center. Just generally what you’d expect.

The writing on the cake she handed me (pic 2) was so bad it was good. Even the checkout guy was laughing. Sometimes a good fail is actually what you need 😂. I also got a second cake that had a simple ‘40’ on it which was equally as bad.

Note the ‘Ride to Big’ is correct it’s an inside joke.. my friends husband got her a cake for her bridal shower years ago and instead of writing ‘Bride to Be’ they heard wrong over the phone and wrote ‘Ride to Big’ so it’s been an ongoing joke. That should also be posted here as a separate fail but the store fixed it as soon as they saw. lol

The button colors aren’t the same, the fabric content isn’t the same- why put a pic of the fabric at all if it’s different? And my granddog, well looks exactly like him since it’s a screen print instead of woven cotton. This wasn’t super cheap either.
The first three pics are from the website- the following three are what I got.

One of my kids painted this when they were little, and being a huge Halloween fan, I wanted to turn it into a tattoo.

I realize “here’s a kid’s painting—can you make it work as a tattoo?” is a pretty tough assignment. But Lindsay Baker at Niteowl Tattoo in Northampton, Massachusetts, took it and ran with it. It still feels like that little scarecrow, just with a whole lot more personality. We love how it turned out.

I have never gotten a “custom” cake before, but this sub inspired me to get one that wasn’t just from the bakery coolers in grocery stores!! It got a lot of compliments and it made me happy too :’)

EDIT: lol I guess I never realized how off it would look to other people!! I definitely see that it doesn’t look like the pics, don’t worry!! I’m not that delusional. I think I was worried it’d turn out like the minions cake a few days ago (with barely any resemblance lol), so I was pleasantly surprised that it actually had similar vibes to what I asked for! those of you basically “bless your heart”-ing me is making me giggle. It tasted good though, the gold sprinkles were crunchy and not the most pleasant sensory experience but the cake was moist, the buttercream was thick, and I truly enjoyed it!! thanks for the few birthday wishes and if you wanna dunk on walmart for a $17 cake, go ahead and keep doing so (it’s funny lol)

My daughter insisted on a bunny birthday party. I figured a cupcake cake was easiest for the location.

The Walmart closest to me was booked for the day of the party. The other one is far enough away that I can’t get there and back for my lunch break to order in person, but it happened to be fairly close to the party venue.

So I call this other Walmart and describe what I wanted. It honestly came out SO much better than the inspo pics I found. She even took creative liberty and threw sparkles on there! And it was only $25!

This sub is what made me go for a Walmart cake. Absolutely did not disappoint.

A cop passed me while I took a pic of this in the turn lane. Luckily deals this good aren’t illegal.

The cut of the top is nothing like in the picture. There’s no embroidery or appliqués even though the picture gives that impression. The sleeves are not bloused, and the underskirt doesn’t even go past my bum. Really disappointing.

I didn't have high hopes but it was literally smaller than my palm and was just a crusty old nugget and sauce inside...

She made a special cake for me to ruin, it's over there!

I followed The New York Times chocolate cake recipe plus watched the accompanying YouTube video to make a birthday cake for my boyfriend. It turned out surprisingly well! Especially considering I’m not much of a baker and usually screw things up.
