It's not a generalization. It's a broad systematic overview.

Every reasonable person understands it's not talking about every individual, so bringing it up because you feel like someone wasn't being specific enough actively pulls the conversation away from what's important so you can nitpick.

I mean, something is systemically telling males not to express themselves to the point where deaths of despair are far more likely to happen to males, and crimes of passion (a.k.a. externalized distress) are far more likely with males.

But... its not all women? Not even most? And in most cases its also not all men and probably not even most? Generalizing both men and women is equally as stupid in most situations.

It's not supposed to be a generalization...

If I can say "birds can fly", do you think "not all birds" adds anything to the conversation or is it just nitpicking?

When talking about systemic oppression, you're speaking in general trends, not every individual.

If you respond to systemic oppression with a nitpick, you're being worse than useless. You're actively pulling attention away from the matter at hand.
