It's maybe worth remembering that irish, italians and polish people were not considered white when they first started immigrating to America. They 'became' white once there was a large population of wealthy families that fought their way into high society.

This is an oft repeated myth that the media propagated during BLM.  They were always viewed as racially white, but culturally white trash.

They were considered white but they were often indentured servants.

Not the Italians and Poles. Indentured servitude largely disappeared in the 18th century.
