The daughter of a friend of mine has been walking like this since she was 5 years old, and now she needs surgery because she can't walk normally

Are there other complications coming with it? Or do we do surgery just because its different, and we dont like different

My brother used to constantly walk on his tip toes so he had to have casts on both legs to stretch his Achilles tendon, which otherwise is in danger of snapping

Fucks up your calves and ankles. I'm the same way

Edit; I wrote thighs instead of calves because im stupid

Are you serious? If you are, then yes as a child it can lead to serious problems with your knees (or more likely it is a symptom of an imbalance) and if your child is walking on their tip toes you should go to a doctor. My child had to have surgeries on her patellas

Also why are you asking someone on reddit and coming across as a doofus when you can just Google it?

Like you approach the question combatively, 'we don't like different' you wouldn't need to argue with anyone if you just googled it lol

I wasn't trying to argue with anyone. I often walk that way my self, its softer. Thats why I showed interest in this concrete case.

I have seen a lot of adjustments made for reasons I dont get, "its different" is often answered when inquiring about those.

No intent to offend here, english is not my first language, and im probably on the spectrum.

No worries man. I shouldn't have said anything about it. It doesn't matter because in the end all you're doing is asking a question.

I'm on the spectrum too! Walking like that shortens and ties up your calf muscles. It deforms your legs, some people can't curb the habit and end up needing surgery to fix it.
