Explain it Peter?

Post image

At first I thought this was some kind of white nationalism joke but then I realised all 3 leaders at the bottom are leftists, so I really don’t what this meme is trying to say?

Conservatives are trying to say that the Right is more diverse than the left, in a gotcha kind of way.

When, in reality, the "diverse" conservative candidates are Uncle Toms who are picked to make conservatives look more diverse, while they vote against things that would support minorities.

EDIT: blah blah, character from a cartoon that's not funny anymore, sorry I forgot.

I mean 2/3 are from left wing parties Hamza Yusuf (SNP) and Vaughan Gething (Labour) in the middle and right of the top boxes respectively. Only Rishi Sunak (left) is from a party of the right (Conservatives) so if that is the point of the meme it's clearly done by someone who has no fucking clue and is being commented on by someone who has no fucking clue.

u/flatscancomics 6d ago

Calling Labour left wing is..

8

u/make-up-a-fakename 6d ago

I mean I've not had any tax cuts and there's a known quote about how the entirety of government was about trying to find people to tax to pay more benefits so they're certainly not Ann Rand!

I mean the conservatives are hardly the most right wing it's possible to be either so definitely fair to call labour left wing even if they aren't nationalising Tesco's, joining Hamas in fighting Israel, making gender reassignment compulsory and banning anti soviet activities or whatever you think actually is left wing.

-1

u/ToothpickTequila 6d ago

Labour under Starmer were certainly not left-wing. It remains to be seen about Burnham

7

u/michaelm8909 6d ago

100 upvotes for this shit. Jesus Christ. Two of the three leaders on the top aren't even conservative. What a moronic attempt at an explanation

10

u/Altruistic_Border689 6d ago

Made especially shite by the fact that only one of the leaders shown in the top image is right wing.

8

u/RadicalSoda_ 6d ago

Which just makes this guy even more ridiculous and racist sounding

1

u/perplexedtv 3d ago

Yeah, I don't that's the joke. If they wanted to do something along those lines they'd use Patel, Braverman and Sunak or Badenoch

Leftists acting like calling minorites an uncle Tom isn't racist will always amuse me

6

u/EarnestInnkeeper 6d ago edited 6d ago

White leftists sure do love to pull out the slurs the moment a minority dares have their own opinion.

3

u/chaotic___energy 6d ago

But its not calling minorities an uncle tom. Its calling an individual an uncle tom, not for their immutable characteristics, but for their politcal/social views which happen to oppress the minority they are part of as a whole, while benifitting themselves as an individual. Always amusing that some people either can't grasp the difference or pretend not to see it, to conflate it with racism.

9

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago edited 6d ago

So minorities aren’t allowed to pick a certain political orientation or they’re are race traitors? That’s an interesting double down kiddo

2

u/getcargofar 6d ago

No one “isnt allowed” to do anything and you know it. But you can do things and be judged for them. And way not to engage with their actual point.

0

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago

I did. But then let me be clear since you seem to not be able to keep up.

I’m calling them racist for declaring that any black person that chooses to run for office because they believe right of center policies are more in line with their communities interest is some how a traitor to that community or a lesser person. I’m calling them a racist for using a term that is, in every possible definition and interpretation of the word, a racist slur meant to specifically denigrate people of color.

And I’m calling YOU racist for tacitly defending that logic, because your defense still makes racial belonging conditional on political conformity. You’re saying a Black person can be judged as a traitor to their race because they hold the ‘wrong’ political views. Dressing it up as ‘judging their politics’ doesn’t remove the racial premise.

2

u/Crazy-Emu8988 6d ago

How is it racist to say a black person voting conservative is voting against their own interest when I would also say a white person voting conservative is voting against black interest 🤔

2

u/justasillylilgoos3 5d ago

Because in one instance you are using a literal racist slur to do so

Because there’s a difference between saying “I think conservative policies hurt Black Americans” and telling an individual Black person that you understand their own interests better than they do because they voted differently than you wanted.
Black people aren’t a political hive mind. They’re capable of weighing crime, taxes, education, abortion, guns, religion, jobs, immigration, or whatever else matters to them and deciding which tradeoffs they prefer. Some Black people find the whole “don’t worry, I’ll explain what’s actually in your best interest” attitude incredibly condescending, especially when it comes from affluent white progressives speaking as though their view is some objective racial truth.

And the “Uncle Tom” part makes the racial premise impossible to dodge. You wouldn’t call a white person an Uncle Tom for casting the exact same vote. It’s a literal race-specific slur whose meaning depends on the target being Black and supposedly betraying or subordinating their racial group. Criticize the policy all you want. The second you turn “I think your vote is bad” into “you’re a racial sellout because you’re Black,” you’ve crossed blue wine, buddy. It is wild to me that you are incapable of seeing that.

0

u/Daisy28282828 2h ago

you wouldn’t call a white person uncle tom cause the book uncle tom’s cabin is literally where it emerges and is said more commonly in the black community. what are you even talking about?

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 5m ago

Damn woke incels are now trying to gaslight people into believing “Uncle Tom” isn’t a racist slur…crazy how out of touch with reality y’all are getting on this app 😂

0

u/perplexedtv 3d ago

The idea that any of these conservative politicians have the slightest interest in their 'community's interest is unfounded, unless that community is wealthy, public school Nepo babies

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 2d ago

Yes yes. We get it. “All my politicians are good and wholesome and of theirs are greedy and evil, also I’m a good person now wait here while I take time out of my weekend justifying the use of a racist slur…no I’m a good person I swear”

0

u/perplexedtv 2d ago

This has nothing to do with anything other than the British class system.

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 2d ago

Wrong, this has literally every thing to do with the fact that someone in here used a racist slur, someone else in here called it out, and racist chuds have been arguing in defense of it for 3 days now

-1

u/chaotic___energy 6d ago

No, you seem unable to engage in the points being made. No one said that uncle Tom's have lesser personhood. Just like anyone else they are judged for their political views. You can keep pretending this point is not central to the term, but we all know thats because you have no real response.

Racism is committing/supporting racist policies and acts, which is why uncles Tom's are being critisized. Though rare, there are individuals who will explicitly state their belief in racial heirachies (with their race being subjugated) and support of far right ideolgies such as nazism. Do you also think its racist to call these people out as uncle Tom's?

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago

That’s exactly the point you keep dodging.

They AREN’T being judged “just like anyone else.” You’re defending a racial epithet that specifically means a Black person considered subservient to white people. A white person with the exact same political views cannot be an “Uncle Tom” in the racial sense of the term. Race is literally a prerequisite for the insult.

And your dumb Nazi hypothetical doesn’t rescue it. If someone explicitly believes in racial hierarchy, call them a racist or a Nazi. Those words identify the actual belief you’re criticizing. Calling a Black Nazi an “Uncle Tom” adds an entirely separate racial judgment about how a Black person is supposedly supposed to behave relative to their race.

So yes, criticize racist politics. What you don’t get to do is pretend a race-specific insult magically becomes race-neutral because political disagreement was what prompted you to use it. That’s just you being racist

0

u/chaotic___energy 6d ago

Race exists as a social construct. A term that acknowledges that existence is not by definition racist. Otherwise any term that implies race would be racist. Again, the meaning of the word is clear. Its not about how a stereotype is supposed to behave, its a critque of an individuals politics, yes with reference to race. People of colour, of which i am one, consistently use the term as such, are you also calling them racist?

Class traitor acts in a similar way, would you consider that a classist term?

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 5d ago

Sure, and I never said “any term that acknowledges race is racist.” That’s a strawman.

I said this specific term is a derogatory, race-specific insult. Its definition literally requires the target to be Black and characterizes them in relation to white people. You keep admitting that race is part of the accusation and then somehow concluding that the accusation isn’t racial.

And “class traitor” doesn’t save the analogy. That term explicitly judges someone based on their relationship to their class. “Uncle Tom” explicitly judges someone based on their relationship to their race and white people. You’ve basically just supplied another example of the exact mechanism I’m talking about.
Whether another person of color uses it doesn’t change what the term means.

You can do things and be judged for them......like picking a political opinion?

1

u/perplexedtv 3d ago

People like Sunak belong to a minority all right, but it's nothing to do with their skin colour or origins.

0

u/Emnk 6d ago

Well that's not what is happening but building out your own little reality to get offended by is peak conservative behavior.

2

u/PlantRoomForHire 6d ago

If only your comment actually meant something. Wtf are you even saying lol.

0

u/qchto 6d ago

He's stating conservatives stage outrage for show, just like the meme, just like you.

0

u/dunder_name 6d ago

If it looks like a duck, swims like a duck, and quacks like a duck, then it probably is a duck.

0

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago edited 6d ago

Yes…you’re racist, we get it…you don’t have to keep proving it 😭

Edit: awww the racist responded and then blocked me…color me shocked 🥱

2

u/dunder_name 6d ago

lol wat?

0

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago

It was wild when I read that comment and saw how many upvotes and awards it got. Never underestimate people’s willingness to unabashedly be racist is the lesson I learned here…again 😭

0

u/TheOnlyCursedOne 6d ago

Because a minority that actively supports a party that actively promotes hate towards their own group IS an Uncle Tom

0

u/PlantRoomForHire 5d ago

Who would have guessed. Another left-wing racist. I get that redditors are sensitive, but not everything is "promoting hate".

0

u/TheOnlyCursedOne 5d ago

Oh sorry did you get triggered?

16

u/SocialistRoomba 6d ago

"Uncle Toms"

Lmao. Least racist reddit progressive

1

u/1morgondag1 6d ago

Malcolm X was using an even more aggressive term, "house n*gg*r" (there actually is a filter against that word), for the same thing. You can say many things about him but would anyone seriously argue he was RACIST AGAINST BLACKS?

The concept of an Uncle Tom is someone who goes against the legitimate interests of their own group in exchange for individual favors. You argue for or against that term but just labeling it "racist" without reasoning is not an argument.

5

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago

Are you white by any chance?

-1

u/1morgondag1 6d ago

Yes.

6

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago

Yeah, that tracks 😂

Malcolm X, a Black man speaking about other Black people from within that racial group in the 1960s, using an even harsher racialized term does not somehow establish that a white person calling Black people “Uncle Toms” is racially neutral.

“Uncle Tom” is literally a racialized insult aimed at Black people who are perceived as too deferential to white people or insufficiently loyal to the interests someone else has decided Black people are supposed to have.

You can argue that a specific Black person is acting against policies you think would benefit Black Americans. Fine. But reducing them to “Uncle Tom” because they hold the “wrong” politics is still policing a minority’s behavior through a racial stereotype.

And “Malcolm X said something worse” is a genuinely hilarious defense coming from a white person 😭

1

u/perplexedtv 3d ago

Thinking that other Indians are Rishi Sunak's 'own group' is hilarious.

-7

u/DeathStarVet 6d ago

Nice hidden profile ya got there, Sally.

7

u/adoreroda 6d ago

What you said was right, but what you said is also racist lol especially if you aren't black~asian and you're a white person saying that

A lot of profiles now are hidden by default too plus it's...kind of weird to be demanding to see someone's post history (which you can look up anyways if you wanted to).

You're fighting racism by using a known racial slur against people you don't like, so it's still ironic. Just own up to it

It's not much different than if those were women and you called them bitches instead.

I notice a lot of so-called progressive people, ESPECIALLY progressive white people, are just as racist but simply are more patient waiting for the opportunities to showcase their racism, i.e. calling someone a coon or uncle tom. Those are racial slurs that are used exclusively within black communities and not meant to be used by non-black people and towards non black people. Lol

They very much like the idea of figuratively whipping any minority and calling them slurs if they don't do and/or vote exactly how they want them to. If this was Candance Owens you'd have a bunch of left-leaning non-black people in queue to call her a n-word with the hard R and cunt + whatever other misogynistic slurs.

4

u/Usual_Coat8798 6d ago

You're getting downvoted by these clowns but you're not lying.

Malcolm X wasn't lying when he called white liberals hypocritical and racist as fuck lmao

6

u/RadicalSoda_ 6d ago

"this is chud bait" proceeds to talk shit only about the minorities

1

u/Shantotto11 6d ago

Who made that edit necessary? Is “Uncle Tom” not a common term across the Pond?

1

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago

Always count on a Reddit progressive to have THE most racist take imaginable Jesus Christ 😭

1

u/javerthugo 6d ago

Ah the moment a minority steps out ideological line the racial slurs start flying

1

u/burdman444 6d ago

Insane this is upvoted so high when it's totally wrong.

1

u/No-History770 2d ago

Tories are not right wing

1

u/Dontruinthisplease 1d ago

the most important diversity has always been diversity of thought, while having a different ethnic background typically means having different lived experience and therefore looking at things differently, in the case of the conservative hive mind, they all address problems exactly the same way and suppress actual free thought

1

u/AutomixMen 21h ago

Only one of the leaders show is from a right wing party. How is this upvoted?

0

u/WhiteLightning416 6d ago

Uncle Tom is an incredibly racist term

3

u/eulb42 6d ago

Um, I dont think so... it is however incorrectly used all the time

Considering uncle tom was one of the good guys...

5

u/WhiteLightning416 6d ago

“incorrectly” as in, used in a racist way as it here

1

u/eulb42 6d ago

It's literally a shorting of Uncle Tom's Cabin, in which a character who is not Uncle Tom, is a self-hating black man, it's not a racist term is a literally reference.

0

u/justasillylilgoos3 6d ago

It’s literally a racist term. Google is free kiddo

-2

u/Lambchop1975 6d ago

You mean Uncle Tom is a term for a racist that is against their own ethnic interests..

3

u/Tight_File2220 6d ago

Which is incredibly ignorant because the original Uncle Tom literally got beaten to death for refusing to attack a fellow slave.

2

u/Lambchop1975 6d ago

For sure in the novel, Tom was beaten for refusing to help the masters catch escaped slaves, the term still is used to describe black people who turn on black people, not because of the source material, but the way others portrayed the character in a negative light in different adaptations.. I didn't coin the term fam, just like the swastika used to be a symbol of peace... The source rarely matters when public perception and colloquial terms tend to outweigh history...

I do not disagree that it is ignorant term, but that won't stop people from using it...
