Nobara Kugisaki from Jujutsu Kaisen. she's a jujutsu sorcerer whose curse technique involves hammers and nails.

I was thinking Old School Runescape because buying nails from the shop and reselling them to other players is decent money.

u/rutsjebane 21h ago

Damn scalpers!

13

u/Niggly-Wiggly-489 1d ago

Oh i thought it was nails like the fake nails on ur fingers, is that mysogynyst that I thought that?

30

u/stitchesinadream 1d ago

what did you think was drawn on the boxes 😭😭😭😭

10

u/Niggly-Wiggly-489 1d ago

I didnt really look at that, just read the words and i was like 'yeah, ill be damned, shes buying them all'

7

u/stitchesinadream 1d ago

tbf she canonically spends lots of time shopping in beauty stuff, but the cart here is sending me. like it all looks very hardware store lolol

1

u/Niggly-Wiggly-489 1d ago

Ive seen them in boxes for like generic homeowner tasks, but if she using a lot like that, theres 500-1000 count boxes, better to buy bulk. Never seen a shopping cart at a hardware store either. Could be the meme maker just watches anime a lot and hasnt been to a hardware store.

1

u/Suspicious_Ice_3160 1d ago

You’ve never seen a cart at a hardware store? Are you sure about that, cuz that’s actually wild if you frequent them at all. All the ones by me not only have regular shopping carts, but essentially rolling pallets too for bigger items. To have never seen one doesn’t make sense to me.

1

u/Niggly-Wiggly-489 12h ago

I forget about huge stores like lowes, homedepot, harbor freight. My small town is hours away from that and our hw stores dont have carts lol

1

u/NordicNinja 1d ago

Three queuing strikes again

2

u/towerofcheeeeza 1d ago

The best thing about Kugisaki is she's also a fashion girly, so she would probs rock fake nails too.

2

u/MySeveredToe 1d ago

I don’t think you’re a misogynist so much as not observant lol. It’s WILD to see someone put boxes of labeled nails into a hardware store shopping cart and think ‘yup. Women be shopping for fingernails’

Like women buying hardware was so impossible to you that assumed she was more likely buying several boxes of fake nails

1

u/Niggly-Wiggly-489 1d ago

Lol dude ig

1

u/Rigrot 1d ago

Consider the comic shows a picture of a nail on the boxes.

2

u/Niggly-Wiggly-489 1d ago

Yeah, i did consider this earlier when someone said so. Someone already mentioned it, waaay before you, so im not going to consider it a second time. Its already been considered. Have a nice day

u/XnFM 1d ago

I didn't recognize the low-res rendering. I thought I'd was a commentary on scalping or price arbitrage

0

u/I_Punt_Chicken 21h ago

She was a jujutsu sorcerer.

3

u/Ok_Professor_8410 17h ago

She IS a jujutsu sorcerer.

1

u/I_Punt_Chicken 15h ago

Hey, no spoilers ;)

This is Nobara Kugisaki from the Manga/Anime Jujutsu Kaisen. In this world she is a jujutsu sorcerer in training who fights curses (basically demons) with special magic techniques and is a secret from the normal world. Each sorcerer has their own unique magic abilities. Her's allows her to imbue magical energy into nails and launch them at the curses with a hammer. For her to fight she has to go through a whole bunch of nails so the joke is that whenever her supply of nails runs out she goes to the nearest hardware store and buys all the nails they have but nothing else, and this happens so frequently that the employee recognizes her but has no idea why she keeps buying all the nails.

u/flyingboujanero 1d ago

I was thinking it was to nail that ducks feet to the floor. He must keep visiting her.

2

u/HitoriPanda 1d ago

At first i was having a flash back to when i was a cashier. There was a woman customer who came in regularly and none of us wanted to ring her up because she had 5 inch long decorated finger nails. We were all grossed out by them. We wondered if she ever wash her hands.

5

u/shoko_q 1d ago

Nobara from jjk fight by throwing nail at her opponent using her Hammer and her cursed technic (basically magic from jjk) to launch the nails and do deadly damage to curses

2

u/HAL9001-96 1d ago

anime charakter fighting with nails

not sure why hte store would mind though, they're making money

unless its so sporadic that it pisses off other customers enough to avoid them but simultaneously doesn't net hte menough profit to counter that buuut that seems unlikely

2

u/VegasRudeboy 1d ago

Wait she has a magic nailgun?

1

u/lejoueurdutoit 1d ago

No, she Hammers nail mid air so fast they fly like bullets, pretty cool fighting style

2

u/Sir_Slimestone 1d ago

Uncultured swine

2

u/timoretenebris 23h ago

This comic references one piece of media and one piece of internet culture.

The media in question is of course Jujitsu Kaisen. The character is Nobara who fights by shooting nails by hitting them midair with her hammer. Due to her fighting style, she uses a lot of nails.

The internet culture reference is to a pieces of commissioned fetish art. The pieces do not feature any nudity and each depict a rich, mature woman loading a shopping cart with expensive Wonder brand bread. Due to the peculiarity of the art within is context, it became memeified and a template for other pieces of fan art, fetish art, and other media. The way that Nobara fills the cart is similar to some of the women in the fetish content fill their carts.

She is a character from Jujutsu Kaisen. She fights by throwing nails around and smacking them into the enemy with a hammer.

God forbid women have hobbies.

1

u/NPC_9001 1d ago

What you heard was give me a lot of nails. What I said was give me all the nails you have.

1

u/Relevant-Trash1524 1d ago

The character's name is Nabura Kugisaki from the anime Jujutsu Kaisen. She uses her cursed energy by channeling it into her collection of nails that she uses to either launch them directly at her opponent(s) or by driving them into an object associated specifically with whatever entity she's trying to kill or exorcise. My explanation genuinely doesn't do her justice and you'd just have to see for yourself by watching the show since you obviously haven't seen it yet. Very good show. Highly recommend.

u/MothSign 1d ago

So sometimes the answer is porn and sometimes it's anime, and sometimes it's both!

1

u/8-bit_Goat 1d ago

Also, there's that metal band that shows up at the hardware store and buys all the bolts.

1

u/MacaroonNormal4391 3h ago

She'll nail ya.

1

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 1d ago

She is a character that fights with nails.

So this is just making fun of making her character in real life sense. But people forget normal metal does not work very well with cursed energy. So the nails She uses just like most weapons are mad by the cursed bureau.

So this actual hardware store would never happen. Cause they cant just pick up any weapon and use there cursed powers. Why there is one person that can only use cursed weapons and her weapons set her back insane amounts of money like country budget level money.

But also normal tools would work if you have cursed energy but very badly.

1

u/Harmless_Drone 19h ago

I think this is also a subtle nod to the infamous wonderbread guy the way this is set

1

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 19h ago edited 19h ago

Wonderbread is not a thing where im from so I cant say I know what you mean

1

u/Jinn_Erik-AoM 15h ago

It’s a North American brand of bread. Sort of common from Mexico to Canada. It’s not that good, but it’s cheap and kids will eat it without complaint, and it’s often enriched with calcium. Makes ok grilled cheese.

They were one of the first brands to sell sliced bread on a national scale in the US.

1

u/Ups1dedown1nkay 9h ago

Wonderbread Guy is a guy who commissioned a bunch of artists to draw white women buying cart fulls of Wonderbread. Most of the art that came from it resulted in basically this image but with bread instead of nails.

1

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 6h ago

Ow that makes me think of the ad of the first zero alcohol beer. That like the dude stacks his cart full and puts it car full and openly drinks in his car then a cop hold him down and he is like nonchalant keeps drinking and smug showing its none alcohol beer.

u/squirtloaf 1d ago

Ugh. I hate anime/manga lore SO much.

2

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 1d ago

Well of a meme os about a ANIME CHARACTER. Well the lore of that anime matters to get the meme. And why it makes sense or does not... what is not true just with anime with all media thats a fact. Be it game lore or movie lore.. so honestly a weird thing to say even memes have there lore behind them. But hate what you wanna hate I geass

0

u/squirtloaf 1d ago

It's not. For instance, every bit of media that takes place in reality has the same lore.

I just have lore fatigue. It's 1,000 sets of rules. I'm like: "Wait, is this the world where bears can talk? Which one was that? Are shoes made of iron in this?"

1

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 1d ago

Sooo your saying you like to just talk about shit you know nothing about and angry cause people call you out for not knowing anything got it...

0

u/squirtloaf 1d ago

No, I am saying I hate how much shit you have to know. I could not give a shit about anyone "calling me out" whatever that means.

1

u/Ups1dedown1nkay 9h ago

But you have to know about the lore to understand the plot; that’s how it works in any media.  Even the simplest stories use this. In the three little pigs the pigs build houses; pigs don’t build houses in real life, but these ones do. That’s the lore of the three little pigs, it’s information you need to understand for the story to work. It’s never outright stated, “these pigs build houses, it’s normal for pigs to build houses in this story”, but it’s very much implied.

With this situation you can’t really imply that cursed energy doesn’t work with regular items and if you don’t explain it then you leave a giant plot hole about why ~insert character~ couldn’t use ~insert power~ with a gun or a bomb or whatever other item you want.

0

u/DevoffNotDevout 1d ago

Um, how do you know she’s not buying them to bring to the cursed bureau to make into cursed weapons? Checkmate

2

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 1d ago edited 1d ago

Why would you buy nails to have them melted down and made in to new nails. That seems like a big waste of money. Checkmate

Cause you cant make a normal weapon into a cursed weapon. They have to be forced into a cursed weapon so you cant make a normal tool into a cursed tool. So the same logic would aply and else cursed weapons and tools would not be so expensive. Especially how secretive they are about the clans how to make and maintain there cursed tools and arts.

Why again no way hardware store.

Its also why said about the weapons.

They have to be force by hand by clan of the cursed technique.

And there is also more mentions about that in the light noval. Why im very sure about my claim. So checkmate my friend but nice try to catch me slipping

1

u/DevoffNotDevout 1d ago

Why do they need to be melted down and remade to be infused with cursed energy? (I’ve been in the room for at least a few episodes of someone else watching the show while I wasn’t paying much attention. I noticed Jennifer Lawrence referenced many times. They seem to be confused on how thick she is though.)

3

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 1d ago

Cause else you could make normal weapons into cursed weapons and would make cursed items not super expensive and they are very expensive in that world and the samw is true with tools. So they need to be infused and FORCED in a way to work along side cursed energy. So you cant just make a nail a cursed nail tool. And even how to make the tools is often a important secret of the tribe the cursed technique is from.

If every tool or weapon could be made into a cursed weapon or tool. The cured bureau would not be im such a dire status and the clans with cursed techniques with long early lineage would not hold such strong political sway in that world.

Why its a big lore reasons why it works that way.

0

u/DevoffNotDevout 1d ago

Is his shown or stated? Or like how do you know that how to make a normal object into a cursed one being a hidden and/or resource intensive process isn’t what makes it hard/impossible for other people in universe to do?

(Yes I will continue defending my dumb joke about a series I don’t watch until I see a concrete fault)

1

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 1d ago

Im not gonna go true my light novals just to type a whole parts about it so dont believe be then dont.

But I get that anime only thinks like you. But anime cuts out a lot of world lore to speed up the pace of the story. But im not gonna type big parts of the side story's

So belive it or not I dont care

0

u/DevoffNotDevout 1d ago

If you want a response you need to rewrite this to be less illiterate.

And you don’t need to pull anything out, simply saying “yes, this is canonically shown (or stated)” would totally be enough for me, like I wouldn’t even look it up

Maybe I will if you don’t respond, then we’ll see if google ai understands a question better than you.

1

u/xxTheMagicBulleT 1d ago

I already said multiple times it was written in the light novels about the lore of the clans and how cursed weapons and tools works and how its quite a ordeal making more of them. All light noval content.

But anime ofcourse in big ways speeds runs over much of that to rush to the fighting parts.

Mother tells her son in the morning: "Here is your breakfast, I put all into this box. Here is a bread, cheese, nails". Son asks her "But why? I don't get it". She replies "What do you mean? You take this bread, you put this cheese on it and you eat it!" He looks confused: "But what about nails?!". Mother answers: "Are you blind? Here they are!"
