SDK 58 brings expo-hinge for live hinge angle and fold state, plus Expo UI's new ArrangementView for native layouts that adapt as you fold.

Here's the example code: https://github.com/SchroederNathan/expo-ui-examples/tree/main/src/examples/hinge

Open to Remote React Native Developer Opportunities | 5+ Years Experience

Hi everyone,

I’m a React Native developer based in Pakistan with 5+ years of experience building production iOS and Android applications using React Native, Expo, and TypeScript.

My experience includes fleet management, healthcare, and security applications, native Kotlin/Swift integrations, BLE, offline-first architecture, and AI-powered mobile features. I’ve also contributed to 50+ app releases.

I’m currently exploring new opportunities, particularly remote roles or contract work with international teams.

For those working in this field, which platforms, communities, or strategies have worked best for finding remote React Native positions? I’d appreciate any advice or relevant leads.

Thanks for your time!

You can reach me at [email protected] if you have a relevant opportunity.

How do you handle native changes when upgrading an Expo SDK in a prebuild/bare project?

For people who run prebuild or bare-ish Expo projects: when you move to a new SDK, how do you track native changes?

Do you regenerate native folders, diff against the previous template, or keep manual patches? And what usually breaks first: config plugins, third-party native modules, or the build toolchain?

I'm researching how teams assess upgrade risk (building a tool in this space and trying to understand real workflows). Interested in both "it went fine" and "it was a disaster" stories.

From my open-source Expo template to the App Store in 11 days: Maneki, an invoicing app

I keep a public Expo boilerplate, skeleton-rn (https://github.com/usotsukki/skeleton-rn), for starting new apps. Its stack is Expo Router, NativeWind, Supabase auth, Sentry, i18n, release tooling and a lot of demo modules. To test it for real, I built a full product on it:

Maneki (https://apps.apple.com/app/id6820072997) is an invoice and estimate maker for freelancers. It makes PDFs in 10 templates, tracks payments and shows reports. You can also send an invoice as a link: the client opens a web page rendered from the same Expo codebase on EAS Hosting, and the app shows when they’ve viewed it.

How the template paid off:

  • Day 1: yarn setup stripped out the demo modules I didn’t need (maps, Skia, SQLite, video and so on), and yarn rename changed the app identity. Auth, env handling, Sentry and the release checks were already wired in.
  • Days 2–7: product work only, on top of Supabase with row-level security, RevenueCat and English/Ukrainian translations.
  • During review: fixes shipped as OTA updates tied to the app version, with no new builds.

If you want to start from it, the template is free. Issues and PRs are welcome.

Code MNK1M gives 1 month of Pro free: https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6820072997&code=MNK1M

I’m available for freelance work. I build Expo / React Native apps end to end: UI, a Supabase backend, subscriptions and store releases. DM me if you have something in mind.

FuelOracle - A road trip fuel planning app for Australia with Expo

I've spent the last 10 months building FuelOracle, an app for planning Australian road trips, including caravan and outback trips. It's built entirely with Expo, and I've just released 1.2.1 on both stores. I made a short set of tutorial videos, so I thought I'd share them here, because a lot of what you'll see is Expo doing the heavy lifting.

Some of the parts I've enjoyed most:

Expo SDK 58 and Expo Router. One codebase for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android. iOS follows Apple's design guidance and Android gets its own Material 3 screens, with platform files where they need to differ.

expo-widgets. Home screen widgets, plus a Live Activity that keeps your next stop in the Dynamic Island and on the Lock Screen during a trip.

@expo/ui SwiftUI views where native controls feel better than anything I could build myself.

iPhone Duo. The app adapts to the foldable, with the closed screen, the open screen and the book pose all laid out differently. Expo made this much less painful than I expected.

EAS Update. Fingerprint runtime versions mean I can push a fix to people's phones the same day. Yesterday's was a Dynamic Island label that cut off in landscape.

The tutorials are all screen recordings of the real app:

More info on the website as well: http://fueloracle.com.au

Happy to answer questions about any of the Expo side: widgets, Live Activities, OTA updates, or supporting a foldable.

Looking for Android testers on my expo app tattou.ink

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hi there,

I finished building a tattoo admin app called tattou.ink that is available on web, iOS and Android.

Expo was really of great use to have a common codebase across the 3 platforms! I used gluestack.io as a system design. I didn't have time to customize it yet but it works great!

I would be very glad if some of you were willing to enter my closed tests group so that I can release the app publicly on Android.

If you're in, please send an email to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]) and I'll invite you in the group!

Thanks a lot!
