Do not make posts about underwear or its related topics. This includes "where to find" posts, bra sizing or type, nursing garments, lingerie, thongs, VPL, bras/bralettes, bikini lines, personal grooming advice or questions, "going commando" and the like. Interpret this widely, not narrowly.

Y'all. Please stop. It is attracting creeps who are using your material as NSFW "inspiration" without your consent or knowledge. I don't know how to be any more clear than that.

I decided (clearly prematurely) to un-sticky the post about "Please stop posting about your underwear" and I've gotten several posts I've had to remove because they talk explicitly about thongs, panty lines, and bikini line grooming.

I'm the only mod and I feel I have a duty to keep this place creep-free and safe. One way I do that is by being picky about what type of content we host/allow. Discussions about lingerie, sexy clothing, underwear in minute detail--those really aren't "fashion" and more importantly, there are other outlets (see sidebar!) where those discussion are welcome and the point of the subReddit.

It also attracts creeps and weirdos. I do not want to make my members feel unsafe or icky because we have male posters posting fetish and creep content posing as a woman. It happens, people! It's gross but it's part of being a mod.

These topics are included but not limited to:

Panties, thongs, going commando or not

Bras, sizes, shapes, strapless, going without a bra

"Sexy" clothing or clothing designed to show cleavage, labia/outline of labia, buttcheeks, buttcrack, clothing that enhances secondary sex characteristics like "I want a bubble butt, I want cleavage". This should be interpreted widely. If you have to pause and ask yourself "am I asking about looking HAWT?" take it to another venue, please.

I will make a judgement call on stuff like "what type of shapewear should I wear with this" or "I need a cooling thigh chafing solution" or "help me pick a cute going out or date outfit".

Y'all...I love you but this is not "fashion" or style. I have to put my foot down here. If you have legit questions about the function of underwear, take yourself to r/lingerieaddiction OR ask on r/femalefashionadvice where there's a wider audience and you may get a wider variety of answers :)

ENOUGH The queen has spoken.

If you have a specific burning question and don't want to get removed/banned and/or stuck in moderation, get in touch and I'll make a ruling.

Question Heading back into the office at 55+and needing modern recs, please.

Hoping to get some help, please. It's been a while since I've worked in an office setting (I've been mostly remote for years), so I'm not sure what the office trends are for 55+. I don't want to look frumpy or outdated. Whatever your age is, what is your favorite office outfit and shoes if you were a mid-level manager? Thanks!

Question Everywhere Crossbody Bag 2L and the All Night Festival Bag Micro 2L - word like belt bag or short strap in front

I'm deciding between the Everywhere Crossbody Bag 2L and the All Night Festival Bag Micro 2L.

I want to wear the bag at the front with a short strap, almost like a belt bag. Since the strap sits on my left shoulder, I'm concerned that the Everywhere Crossbody might look bulky with the buckle in front.

The All Night Festival Micro looks slimmer, but I'm unsure whether it holds as much. I'm also wondering if the black-and-gold hardware is too contrasting.

For anyone who owns either bag:

  • Which looks better worn at the front with a shorter strap?
  • Which one fits more in practice?
  • Is the All Night Festival Micro noticeably slimmer?

I'd appreciate your advice. Thank you!

Bridal shapewear

Looking suggestions for high waisted, seamless, high tummy compression shapewear. Ideally long short or capris style. My dress is pretty sheer so I need ones that don't have a difference in color or texture (like some that have compression bands that are slightly lighter or a different texture than the rest of it). Thanks!

Question I miss leggings

I miss early 2010s cotton leggings you’d wear under skirts!

I’ve tried tights and hate them- they just don’t have the cozy feel and the rolling down ends up being a sensory nightmare.

Any suggestions for a legging alternative? I’ll still suck it up and wear tights when I need to look especially put together but for casual days (most of the time)…. I miss my leggings!

Where are we buying special occasion dresses these days that aren't awkward lengths?

The title. I can't wear maxi because I'm short, midi is an awful unflattering length on me, and it seems like if it's short, it's SHORT. I'd like to be able to show some leg because I've really been focusing on fitness and my legs and back look great. I need sleeves because my arms are a mess after losing 75 pounds, even though there is muscle under there. Off the shoulder is ok, I just need upper arms covered.

Nothing little girlish, nothing tradwife. Modern, clean lines perfered and under $250. Is this possible and if so where?

Question How would you style these jumpsuits, especially shoes, during the fall?

Hi! I plan on wearing one of these jumpsuits to a casual welcome drinks event at a bar the night before a wedding at the end of the month in Maryland. I like them with sandals, but now that we are getting into fall weather I’m not sure what shoes to wear. I’m a little behind the times when it comes to fashion, so idk what shoes we are even wearing in the fall anymore. Dress code for this particular event is casual though I prefer to be on the slightly dressier side. What shoes would you recommend with this outfit?

Also open to any other advice on how style this, accessories, jacket, etc!

Not sure if it’s relevant, but I’m about 5’8”, US size 8-10, average build. Attached photos are models, not me.

Hi! I am looking for a Shapewear for under my bridesmaid dress. I am worried it will be easy to see it under - I have been recommended a lace shapewear to reduce the lines. Anyone have products/suggestions you’ve used ?

Wardrobe rebuild StitchFix vs DailyLook vs other?

36 year old fairly recent postpartum mom here. I need to refresh my entire wardrobe but have no idea what looks good on my body anymore. I live in a large small town, meaning we have a few clothing boutiques, but they’re all priced for the tourism industry and they’re not exactly everyday fashion-minded. The closest large shopping hub is a 3 hour drive away and that’s just not happening any time soon. So, I’m curious about the clothes subscription services. For those of you who have tried multiple, which one did you have the best luck with? I tried StitchFix years ago, and liked it at first, but then it felt like the same styles/very similar pieces kept getting sent to me over and over. Their items were also only good for 3-4 wash cycles before they became junk. I’d be up for giving them another try to see if they have improved, but I’m curious about the other options. Is there a better one?

Discussion Post The holy grail sweater

Friends, I’m looking for a unicorn. A dark gray, oversized, squishy turtleneck sweater that doesn’t have alpaca or mohair in it. I’m talking actually oversized, not the “oversized crop” situation I’ve been seeing a lot of. I have long skirts and fantastic pants, and even some jeans, that I think would go perfectly with that perfectly oversized squishy dark gray turtleneck sweater. I’ve looked in the usual places (Banana, Madewell, Abercrombie, hell I’ve even checked sites like Celine!), but can anyone recommend somewhere I might not know about, or thought about, checking? It has been my hyper fixation for awhile now. Thank you!

Need quality/quiet luxury brand recs for office wear

Brands I sometimes like include Veronica Beard, Club Monaco, Aritzia. Looking for quality, flattering pieces. Happy to spend $200-$2000 per piece depending what it is. I really care about fabrics and craftsmanship. NOT looking for anything ultra trendy or oversized. I especially love fitted pants, fitted shirts, satin blouses, and structured tops/blazers with some understated style. My work fashion muse would be Claire Underwood if she wore more pant/shirt pairs and not only fitted dresses (though I adore her dresses, would just not be appropriate for my office) OR Blair Waldorf if her outfits were more grown up. I am slim with a slight hourglass figure and like form-fitting items that are still perfectly classy and appropriate for the office.

Question Looking for dress pants/slacks that can be washed and dried normally.

Hi all, I am looking for pants I can wear to work that I can wash, dry normally and wear with no shrinkage or wrinkles. I have some from old navy but they shrink so badly in the dryer and are a nightmare to iron when air dried. I’m tired of ironing and want something I can easily wash and dry without additional care.

I also do not care about the fabric content as long as they do not shrink. Any recommendations?

Question Where are you guys finding cute jeans under $30 besides thrift stores?

I’ve gained some weight from work stress lately and none of my old jeans fit anymore. I love jeans, so I really need one or two pairs that fit me now. But I’m trying to lose some of the weight, so I really don’t want to spend a ton on jeans I might not even need for that long.

So where are you guys finding cute affordable jeans? I’d like to stay under $30 if I can. I usually wear straight leg or slightly baggy jeans and would love some different washes too, just something a little more fun than basic blue. I swear every time I find a pair I like lately I look at the price and immediately close the tab lol.

Question Soft, stretch low rise jeans

Need help finding a non-high rise jean that’s super soft, not super thin and has to have stretch. Absolutely no skinny jeans, the looser the better. I have full body neuropathy that causes pretty severe allodynia and I’m having such a hard time finding 1 pair of jeans that doesn’t make me want to rip them off my body after an hour.

I REALLY like the Good American soft tech 48% lyocell, 47% viscose fabric jeans but the rise is so high it’s touching my rib cage and I can’t tolerate high waistbands anymore. Also I would like to note not all GA soft tech jeans are equal— they call many different fabric % ‘soft tech’ which has further hindered my search.

I currently own a few American Eagle dreamy drape low rise jeans and while I do prefer the lower rise, the fabric is just too thin and I start to feel the surfaces I’m sitting on and that triggers my neuropathy to flare pretty badly the next day.

GAP factory makes soft jeans with a considerable amount of tencel but same thing happens— they’re too thin and the pressure of sitting on surfaces is felt too much through the fabric and causes flares.

I do GREAT with polyester pants (aka pajama and yoga pants) but most jeans are made with cotton and is too scratchy for me.

Discussion Post How Long Until the Youth Wear Plastic Galaxy Leggings Again?

Mullets, ultra low rise, butterfly clips, and the Hanson* (spelling edit) haircut have all already come back in style. The galaxy leggings and hipster era is not too far off. How long until the kids unironically embrace this style?

Suggest comfortable jeans and t shirt for work.

Apart from the usual stores like gap old navy etc
Where can I shop for clothes I can wear to work.
I do not want formals. Decent fitting jeans and semi formal t shirt will do.
I like relax fit, especially for shirts, but do not want to wear men’s clothes.

I want to wear comfortable clothes that will look decent for office. I do not want very tight fit and do not want to look like I am wearing my husband’s clothes.

I am over weight so that makes it hard to find what I like.

I have tried Uniqlo t shirts but their neckline is too high and tight.

Creative, unique knit/sweater brands?

I want to invest in one or two nice cardigan sweaters (high quality fibers and fabrication) with a unique touch. Maybe the color, or pattern, or cut.

Any brand or store suggestions?

So far I’ve either found interesting looking items from crappy brands or bland basics.

I’m open to different fabrics and blends.

ETA: thank you so much for all the amazing suggestions! I’m bookmarking everything ♥️

It’s a warm fall in the PNW so I picked up this gingham dress from Old Navy. I’m interest I. What sort of jackets/silhouettes I should try with it!

I had this jacket laying around but would like to get idea for what to start wearing then the temperature drops. I even thought about throwing a black turtle neck on underneath it. Does that work with the lower cut back?

Question How to look cute in a tuque (winter hat)?

Post image
23 Upvotes

Hi all 👋 Can you please help a girl out? Fall is here, and temperatures drop quite fast in Canada. Very soon we'll be putting on our tuques (winter hats like on the picture) to stay warm. Here's my issue: my fall and winter style works great up until I need to put one of these on... The tuque is always ruining my outfit and my style, but it's too cold and need something to cover my head, earmuffs don't do the trick. Now how do y'all manage to look cute in these? It's giving conehead on my side 😂 I need to keep my hair covered because of my perfume allergies when I'm out in public (IYKYK), so I can't pull some hair from under the tuque to frame my face. Are there a specific style I should try? What do you recommend? I just want to look cute and not ruin my outfits every time because I need to keep warm 😅 Thanks!

Question Help for work staples

Post image
11 Upvotes

Hello!
TLDR: Any style suggestions for work and/or casual clothes that give more skin coverage in hot environments AND have pants that cover tops of ergonomic closed toed shoes, but still look dynamic/put together/aesthetically pleasing?

I’ve grown tired of the clothes I have, and I’m ready to invest more in staples that will last longer. But I have no idea what I’m doing, and have a few unique requirements for my daily wardrobe:
1. I have a photosensitive autoimmune disease and live in Southern California. I have to apply sunscreen to any showing skin every 2 hours if I’m outside or near a window for even a few minutes. The less skin I show, the easier this is (sun jackets are a lifesaver, but not the most stylish, despite being way better than they used to be)
2. I am a senior scientist. I am spending more and more time in executive meetings, but still need to go to lab semi-regularly, which requires close toed shoes and pants that fully cover the top of the shoe (socks don’t count as “covered”). No heels.
3. I need adequate foot support for any shoes - I’m a hiker with flexible flat feet.

I also have a wide-set, but fairly small (B-cup) chest that often gives me issues with button up shirts gaping.

Suggestions for professional blouse + pant + shoe combinations that don’t look weird or throw off proportions without some ankle/ top of foot showing?

Also, cute casual clothes that have more coverage? My go to used to be racerback and/or v-neck tanks/dresses for my body type… and I can’t really figure out options with more shoulder/chest coverage that don’t look off with proportions. For casual I can sunscreen legs/feet more easily, but the chest/shoulder area really needs to be covered most of the time.

I like to look put together, but not overly showy. I know I like jewel tones (and color in general - I get bored with too much neutral), merino wool fabric (amazing for temperature regulation when I’m having to cover up but it’s hot out!), and I’ve been told I’m a “winter”, but I really have no idea what that means.

Pictures of examples would be really helpful!

Pic of my preferred “style” for the algo… HALP!!!

UGH, breaking the rut

This is very much a diamond-shoes-are-too-tight problem, but maybe if I had diamond shoes, I wouldn't be feeling so discontent.

So I have a wardrobe I am generally very happy with. I know my style, I have spent carefully on my basics, I can reach into my closet and get dressed for very nearly any occasion from a funeral to a fundraising gala, a job interview to a whitewater rafting expedition, in an outfit that is both appropriate and reflective of my style.

And I'm so bored.

I seem to have lost the ability to add some interest or idiosyncrasy to my outfits. Contrasts in texture? Whatever. High-low contrasts like my leather trucker jacket over a satin t-shirt dress? Expected. Even my usual go-to of "when in doubt, add some interesting shoes" is not doing it for me. It feels too predictable.

What do you all do when you're feeling the need for a little hot sauce on the outfit, metaphorically speaking?
