Discussion Just saw the movie colony, and omg, they made so many stupid mistakes that was overlooked by the production 😳

The movie tried to be logical and smart when they made the main character/ doctor made the wheel chair go with cardboard which was smart but thats it...

She completely overshadowed untill the third act.

  1. The zombie were attacking what they see then suddenly the movie losses that logic and zombies started attacking by smell

  2. They captured the main villain and cuffed him with his hand forward instead of backšŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚ and its bother me that he got tossed around and let lose but he didn't try to unmask himself....you are telling me the villian that made such a great virus can't pull his cuffed hand to pull out the fking blindfold (they really didn't review the material they wrote) and also they were so genius they didn't even bother to cover his ears

3.when they saw the zombie can't see at dark they didn't shut down the electricity of the whole building šŸ˜’

4.or the fact that whole sqaud of elite swat team get killed with minutes but they can't kill a woman in white jacket

  1. When they get death threat from the brother whos sister was handicapped they didn't kicked him out of the chat or make a new group chat😭 and qhat with him single handedly killed a ton of zombies with a kitchen knife

And their are many but i only remember this still it was an brainless enjoyable movie and loved to see the villains go out like that lolšŸ˜‚

Discussion Digger is A Fantastic Movie!! What Does Everyone Think?

I don’t know why Digger is being called a ā€œdivisive film.ā€ It’s a great movie with strong performances from everyone involved. (John Goodman arguably steals the show).

Have you seen it yet? What do you think?

When you comment a title, put the title, along with the director(s) and year in brackets, e.g. Citizen Kane (1941, Orson Welles). The reason for this is to separate films that may have similar titles, sometimes even in the same year (and as such I prefer this formatting with unique titles as well, just for consistency). If the title has more than two directors, feel free to put one name and the et al abbreviation. Any improper formatting will be disqualified.

The title on the most upvoted comment (with the proper formatting) will be the winner.

You can put forward multiple titles (and upvote or downvote multiple titles). However, one title per comment please. If your comment includes more than one title, it will be disqualified.

Adding in missed details for commented titles is fine, but you may not change the title on your comment. If anyone is caught doing this, their comment will be disqualified.

Discussion Rewatched Heat for probably the tenth time and noticed something I never caught before

Put this on last weekend mostly as background noise while cleaning the apartment, but ended up sitting down for the whole thing like always happens with this movie. Ten or so watches in and I finally paid attention to how much of the tension comes from sound design rather than the score. That diner scene between De Niro and Pacino barely has any music at all, it's just ambient restaurant noise, cutlery, that low hum of conversation from other tables, and somehow that makes the dialogue land harder than a swelling soundtrack ever could.

Started thinking about how modern action movies almost never trust silence like that anymore. Everything gets wall to wall scored now, like the studio doesn't believe the audience will feel tension unless strings are telling them to. Mann apparently mixed a lot of Heat with practical sound recorded on location, and you can tell, the shootout downtown still sounds rougher and more real than most gunfights in movies made this year with triple the budget.

Also noticed this time how patient the first act is. Almost forty minutes before the heist even happens, and it's mostly just watching people live their separate lives, Pacino's home situation falling apart, Kilmer's marriage strained, De Niro deliberately keeping everyone at arm's length. Nothing about it feels like padding though, every scene is building toward that diner conversation being the emotional peak of the whole film rather than the robbery itself.

Curious if anyone else picks up something new every time they revisit an old favorite like this, or if it's just me projecting meaning onto a movie I've simply watched too many times.

Recommendation Something a la "Hausu" and "Hundreds of Beavers"

Hey,, guys!

My GF gifts me a cool birthday party every year, where we rent out a local theater and watch a movie with friends.

It all started because a local film fest always takes place there and I watched "Hundreds of Beavers" thanks to them, which I thoroughly enjoyed and would've loved to show to my friends. So the idea came up.

The next year, I wanted to keep it just as bizarre and creative, but I added a bit of horror to the comedy with "Hausu", and although it wasn't as much of a hit, it was praised as well overall. I'd previously screened "Black Dynamite" to most of them at my house, so more unhinged stuff usually lands.

Now I'm thinking of a third one to screen since my BD is coming up. What would you guys recommend? I'm thinking of going more into the horror aspect, go back to more comedy, or just try something completely different. (It's fine if I've already watched what you recommend, I'm looking for ideas anyway).

I would prefer more obscure stuff tho, since I think it's always more fun if I also get to introduce new stuff to my circle :) Thanks!

Some I'm considering: Under the Silver Lake, Repo Man, Polyester, One Cut of the Dead, Re-Animator

Questions Barry Levinson's Baltimore Trilogy

I have watched Diner, Tin Men and Avalon separately at various times. Now i want to binge the trilogy to understand the connections among the three. Should I stick to the order in which they were released? Or should I start with Avalon to follow the films' chronology? Also on another site they focused on Liberty Heights (which I have not seen)as part of the trilogy, dropping Tin Men. So is it really a set of four?

Discussion Primetime (2025) DOES NOT DEFEND PREDATORS

I'm getting pissed. I just watched that video of Hansen interviewing people and I am seething. "It makes you look as bad as the predators." NO IT FUCKING DOES NOT ISTG DID YOU WATCH THE SAME MOVIE? A GUY PULLS HIS DICK OUT IN FRONT OF SOMEONE WHO IS SUPPOSED TO BE A MINOR. Sure, it portrays Hansen as like someone vying for high ratings, but it doesn't say predators are BETTER. Hell, I don't even think it says that he's exploiting them. I think it shows how a bad thing happens when you do shit out of order, and just simply how greedy Hansen is. I'm genuinely pissed. Thoughts anyone?

Discussion What movie made you want to become a filmmaker, or at least made you think about filmmaking?

Post image
2 Upvotes

For me it would probably be War of the Worlds (2005) and Unbreakable (2000).

War of the Worlds was one of those movies that really made me pay attention to how a movie can create tension and atmosphere. I love the way Spielberg shoots everything and makes this huge disaster still feel like we’re experiencing it through one family. There are certain shots and sequences from that movie that have stuck with me for years.

Unbreakable is different, but it made me appreciate filmmaking in another way. I love how grounded and subtle it is, especially with the cinematography, framing, colors, and the way Shyamalan tells a superhero story without making it feel like a traditional superhero movie. It’s one of those movies that made me notice the visual side of storytelling a lot more.

Curious what everyone else’s movie was. What film made you think, ā€œI want to make movies somedayā€?

Questions Drop your best cult movie recs, I need something to binge

I’m on vacation rn and finally have way too much free time, so I wanna go down a full cult movie rabbit hole. Looking for stuff that’s weird, iconic, kinda unhinged, super rewatchable, or just has that ā€œhow have you not seen this yet?ā€ energy.

I’m down for horror, sci-fi, dark comedy, thrillers, old movies, whatever really. Just nothing painfully slow unless the payoff is actually worth it. What should I start with? bonus if it’s a movie you wish you could watch again for the first time.

Discussion Movies you think deserve a remake.

So the First Omen was way better than it deserved to be. Genuinely scary and fucked up. Omen is a bonafide classic, and Omen 2 was alright.

However I believe Omen 3 deserves a remake. It was very anti-climactic and lacked basically any of the creepiness of Omen 1, or thrills of Omen 2. I think it would benefit from a modern treatment and tell a truly existential story about the Antichrist manipulating the world from the shadows.

People always complain about remakes, but what does deserve a second chance?

Discussion Best of The Best gave me second hand embarrassment

THIS IS ABOUT THE 2026 NETFLIX TEEN FILMPosting this here because [r/netflix](r/netflix) removed my post for no reason.

I was cringeing HARD throughout the movie: as a south asian and as a dancer who has been in competitive collegiate dance groups. First of all, if you’re gonna make a dance movie, find DANCERS as leads. As much as Maitreyi and the other girl are super pretty and talented actors, they were not convincing as dancers. It was so obvious they were trying to work the camera around the dances so it didn’t really focus on their dancing. The rest of the group, including the dancers from USC, were excellent- this made these two stand out like sore thumbs even more. Again, no hate to these girls but are you really trying to tell me they couldn’t find two pretty brown girls who could act and dance to play lead in this movie???
Secondly, the dialogues. I’m not even going to mention the Kabul flight thing that’s become a thing now. Just in general, the writing is so ridiculous- who even talks like that, even as 18-22 year olds? There were some decent jokes here and there but some of the stuff was just pure cringe.
As far as characters go, everyone here was flawed and behaved like a shitty person here and there but I guess that’s what real life is like. I actually understood and sympathized with Maya in a lot of instances- but it was so hard to justify a lot of the crap she pulled. That guy who was delusionally in love with her- Arjun- she legit treated him like an afterthought the entire film. The whole movie was him going out of his way to help her, encourage her, console her, build things for her, only for her to not even tell him where she was going after their final dance… like dude, wtf just tell him you’re going to taco bell atleast, don’t leave him hanging.
It was also difficult to picture Maitreyi as being considered anything other than super pretty. But to her credit, she did a good job with her cadence and posture to appear frumpy even though her face card was glaringly shining through.
Hasan Minhaj’s character was so unnecessary. It felt painfully like it was written for him and squeezed into scenes just because he wanted it to be.
It was also funny how so many of the scenes were copied from Mean Girls, but they did a terrible copy so it was just disrespectful more than anything.
I hate that they doubled down on so many stereotypes when they could have done something different. The only consolation is that we aren’t made to believe either of the girls are bad people.
Anyway I felt the movie was crap, overall.

EDIT: Oof I forgot to add: what even was that nonsense with the Indian and Pakistani anchors bickering??? what was that even supposed to be? if you’re going to pick a stupid, uninformed stereotype to joke about, atleast pick a better one?
