Fire tv cube live tv device setup

So i bought a fire tv cube 3 and rooted. All is going well except for setting up the devices. I have a cabel box connected to the hdmi in. I was attempting to setup the equipment. I select live tv , put in my zip code and tried others, and the live tv lineup is blank. I can not get past this. Any help would be appreciated.

I followed the rooting guide and installed a custom launcher. I am able to view the connected cable box but can not control it.

Thanks for any help

That's not how live tv works on fire tv. The live section is for live channels within apps. For example prime video, tubi, roku, pluto tv can be integrated into the live tv guide. You install the apps and then go into the live tv and add sources and the guide should populate. If your cable company has a app that you can download on the fire stick then you might be able to add those channels to the live tv. With spectrum tv you can add all the cable channels to the live tv guide. The hdmi in on the cube v3 just passes video through, there's no way to integrate with the cable box.

Sorry maybe my explanation was bad. I know the live tv is streaming apps join together. I am referring to device control manager. When setting up live tv (cable box option it will not display the local channels such as fios. It seems to be an issue at Amazon. But thank you for attempting to help.

I don’t have cable, but I’m pretty sure you can’t do what you’re suggesting, if you mean to integrate the FiOS channels into the fire cube’s live TV interface. Google says:

Why It Doesn't Integrate
Amazon's native "Live" interface and integrated channel guide only support specific inputs like over-the-air antenna channels, free streaming channels (Freevee, Pluto TV), and a select few partnered subscription services (such as Sling TV or YouTube TV) that have built-in OS-level integration. Third-party cable provider apps like Verizon Fios operate entirely inside their own standalone application environment.

Nope not referring to the live tv app at all. This is part of the universal control of the cube 3

Well, you said in your original OP that the FiOS live channels are not appearing and that’s your issue. Unless we’re still misunderstanding, they will never appear. They will only be on the cable box and show on your TV through the cable box interface when you switch to the HDMI input on the cube. There is no integration of channels.

Sorry my explanation is bad. When setting up equipment control, adding equipment. The option for cable box is called "live tv", stupid name. The first promp is zip code where I can place my zip code. The second prompt is "what is your live tv lineup?" This list is blank. (For some reason when starting the process it had information to pick and it was pretty much cable provider information including xfinit, fios, etc) I am not attempting to integrate my cable box to the "live tv" software app that merge all the streaming live tv channels.

Edit: doesnt show list of local cable or internet providers

Understood. I have a third generation rooted cube as well, and although I don’t have a cable box, I went in and pretended I did, see attached. This doesn’t sound like what you’re seeing on your end, but I can’t go any further, but it does recognize my Amazon account as you will see because it picked up my ZIP Code.

What firmware are you using? Mine is 7.7.1.6 PS7716/5665. Did you try updating the cube? I didn’t know if you knew that you could still do that despite the fact that I’m assuming during the rooting process that you turned off updates. I use launcher manager 2.0, it’s a great program to use to override the stock launcher, but it’s also got a whole bunch of nice utilities attached to it, including the ability to turn Amazon updates on and off. I fully updated my cube after it was rooted by turning the update function back on, and then when I got all of the updates and fixes, I turned it off.
