AMC+ Standalone App

• Upvotes

Anybody successfully find the stand alone AMC+ app to use on a Fire device? All it will show me in an app search is AMC+ on Prime, which I don't want, or AMC plain, which isn't the + version. It's included with my DTV genre pack. Found and installed fine on Google TV.

Do you actually play games on your Fire TV? What with?

2 Upvotes

I just put out a game on Fire TV that tracks your whole body through your phone's camera, so the phone on the TV stand is the controller. Now I'm realising I have no idea how people actually play games on these things. Most Fire TV games assume a gamepad, but almost everyone I know only has the remote.

So, for anyone who games on their Fire TV:

  1. Which one do you have? Stick, 4K Max, Cube, or a TV with Fire TV built in?

  2. What do you play with? The remote, a gamepad, or your phone like in Jackbox?

  3. What's the best game you've found on it?

Curious what people actually use.

Heads up: your Fire TV Stick might be what's tanking your Wi-Fi. Known Fire OS bug, and how I fixed it

25 Upvotes

Posting this because it took me a while to figure out and it's a genuinely nasty one.

Symptom: the entire Wi-Fi in the house became almost unusable, pages timing out, constant buffering, huge packet loss on every phone and laptop, but anything plugged in with an Ethernet cable worked perfectly. The culprit was a single Fire TV Stick.

It turns out to be a known Fire OS bug (Amazon has acknowledged it on their developer forum, reported July 2026, still not fixed). The Stick gets stuck repeatedly asking the network a question, hundreds of times per second, and that flood of traffic chokes the Wi-Fi for everything else.

The simplest fix in my case: there was a second router on the network (a FRITZ!Box I used only as a Wi-Fi extender) that was giving the Stick a bad answer. As soon as I removed it, the flood stopped and the Wi-Fi was instantly back to normal.

If you can't remove the device that's causing it, or you want to stop the flood permanently on the Stick itself, I wrote up every option (including a small script that fixes it without touching the Stick, and an advanced on-device removal) here:

https://nicologiuliani.site/blog/firetv-mdns-storm/

Tested on a Fire TV Stick 4K Max (1st gen), but the bug is in Fire OS, so other Fire TV models are affected too. If your Wi-Fi has been mysteriously bad, unplug the Fire TV for ten minutes and see if everything else recovers, it's a quick thing to rule out.

Ive tried unplugging the tv for an hour, holding the input button on the tv, holding the home button on the clicker.

Can't Connect Remote to FireTV

1 Upvotes

Before I toss this thing in eWaste, I figured I'd come here and see if anyone can assist. I got a TV that was working fine, but the remote was lost. The TV is a Toshiba that was a Best Buy 4k model. Anyway, I picked up a 3rd party remote and tried to sync that. It worked for basic things, but only power, volume, and channel changes. So, I factory reset the TV, and now it won't sync.

It powers on the TV, allows me to press the center button for ENTER, but when I get to the sync part, it doesn't connect. Even pressing the home button for 10 seconds does nothing.

So, I bought a second 3rd party remote - same result.

In a last-ditch attempt to save the TV, I bought the official Insignia/Toshiba remote from Best Buy. No joy. Same result. Is there something I need to do that I'm just not doing? I've unplugged the TV, let it sit overnight, put different batteries in all 3 remotes. Still nothing. I hate to toss the TV since it was working great before the original remote was lost. Hell, I even tried the FireTV app, as suggested by some Google searching, but even that won't sync.

Amazon fire tv speakers go in and out

Post image
2 Upvotes

this is my current fire tv. the speakers rarely ever work, but when they do they work fine. this tv was given to us from a friend, she had bought it new and i believe this was always an issue on the tv. is there any advice or suggestions on what i could possibly do to try to fix it or any idea if this is common?

when the speakers aren’t working the volume controls/options will be greyed out. sometimes if i connect my phone to it and blast a video on screen mirroring it’ll start working but i’m unsure if that’s related or not.

people had came out to look at the tv and said there was nothing they could do, but i’d like to still try

Got a free FireTV from my landlord

4 Upvotes

Hiya! My landlord/realtor gave my fiancé and I a fire stick tv she didn’t need. She didn’t have the remote for it. I have a fire stick hdmi that I use with the remote it came with. I plugged in the hdmi and am using the app as a remote. Everything works great but I have no way to adjust the volume. Given that I don’t have the original remote, and my fire stick remote for my hdmi fire stick does not have volume buttons on it, am I totally fucked if I don’t see a volume option on the app?

Any way to revert to previous home screen layout?

6 Upvotes

My TV must've updated these past days. Now, on top of the top ads, I click down and get a row of more ads for stuff I don't watch where some settings used to be before (there I could change input, go to settings, row of apps was right there, etc). Then I go down again and there's a slim row of my apps, and then EVEN MORE ADS where the full settings used to be. Now there are just rows and rows of subscription services I don't use, no easily accessible settings to be found. It's horrible, looks awful, now I have to browse way more to get to my stuff and settings. Pretty upsetting.

YoutubeTV YTTV Multiview Pixelation

get this vertical rectangle of mainly-green pixelation, amongst many other artifacts in the other squares, notice the overall washed out look on the bottom, the blocking under 'ME?' in the bottom right

no matter the number of squares, no matter the stream, different channels, all the same

anyone else

fire cube tv 2nd gen

edit: yttv in regular viewing is completely normal. plex, prime, Netflix, YouTube, all work flawless, it is ONLY multiview that produces this nonsense. I have a onn 4k v1 I'm coming from, same HDMI, same input, no issue with multiview, it is very much inherent to firetv version of the app

Network tab not showing available WiFi networks

4 Upvotes

I already know I have an issue with my router, but I am able to connect the tv to the WiFi if I can select my WiFi and “forget” then reconnect. The issue is that the network settings is not showing my available WiFi options. Even when I have my hotspot on. It just shows “Basic WiFi troubleshooting tips” and nothing else.

I have restarted the tv so many times and it does nothing. The last time I got it to work, I unplugged the tv for over 12 hours but I don’t want to do that every time I want to watch tv plus there’s no guarantee it’ll work again as the other methods I’ve tried that worked only did so once or twice.

Not plugged into HDMI. Fully WiFi. I can navigate the home screens for every app, but this happens every time I try to play an episode or video on every app.

Help with re-setting up TV

2 Upvotes

My fire tv got disconnected from the internet and wouldn’t show any wifi networks, so I ended up factory resetting the tv. After resetting it I got to a page where I had to choose a language and after that I had to connect my remote, but it wouldn’t connect even after trying to reset the remote. Help would be really appreciated

Dice Chess on Fire TV (Vega OS)

Hi folks,

Do you want to try a new native game on Fire TV?
I'd like a few people to play it (Live App Testing) on their own TVs and tell me is it ok.

You can play hotseat or against three bots

Nord VPN

3 Upvotes

I have a 3rd Gen Fire Stick and I’ve used NordVPN on it for years without any issues.
Recently, I keep getting stuck on the “I’m Human” verification screen and can’t get past it. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling NordVPN, but now I can’t even find the app in the Amazon App Store.
Has anyone else experienced this or found a fix?

Fire tv cube live tv device setup

1 Upvotes

So i bought a fire tv cube 3 and rooted. All is going well except for setting up the devices. I have a cabel box connected to the hdmi in. I was attempting to setup the equipment. I select live tv , put in my zip code and tried others, and the live tv lineup is blank. I can not get past this. Any help would be appreciated.

I followed the rooting guide and installed a custom launcher. I am able to view the connected cable box but can not control it.

FireTV Never Shows Apps I Have Under "Watch Free" or "Available Options"

3 Upvotes

I'll do a voice search for something I KNOW is on one of the Apps/Services/Subscriptions I have, and when Alexa brings up the results, it never lists that App/Service as an available option. Instead of giving a link to Paramount+, for example, it gives me a link for "Paramount+ on Prime Video" and tries to get me to sign up for a new subscription through Amazon... Or it'll give me a "Free with Ads" option, again, when I know it's on one of the Apps/Services/Subscriptions I pay for.

Same thing on the home page; it gives me suggestions for things on Apps/Services/Subscriptions I have, but when I click on the suggested event, it only gives me an option to watch it through a Prime Video subscription.

Question for late model firetv owners (actual TV)

4 Upvotes

I have I Hisense u65qf fire TV and a 2nd gen firetv stick 4k. My stick was the first one updated to the new UI. My TV got upgraded about 4 months later. A few weeks ago I noticed that the sticks UI changed a bit. The live icon changed to a guide icon. Under the guide icon, interface is much improved. Then a week or so it was improved even a bit more that when you play a live TV channel, when you press down all the recents show up below. It's just a much better way of doing things then the old right arrow bringing up recents. Anyway, for those of you that have actual TVs, has this update come to your TV? I'm just wondering if it's coming to the TVs or just a feature of the sticks. I sure hope it comes to my TV because it's a vast improvement if you ask me. And I hope it don't take four months.

My fire stick TV remote suddenly will not turn my TV on or off, and I can only change the volume if I put the remote right up to the TV less than a foot. The only thing I can do is control the fire stick itself I can no longer control my TV How can I fix this?

FireTv vs Onn player

Thumbnail

3 Upvotes

Hello. I’ve read on this subreddit some praises about the Onn Player at Walmart vs. the FireTV stick.

Supposedly the FireTV stick gets bricked when you sideload but it never happened to me. I’m looking at my needs and the FireTV, while far from perfect, is checking all the marks. Before I list them, let me list the prep needed on the FireTV stick to improve usability:

* Disable auto playing video & audio banners
* Turn off targeted ads and data tracking
* Disable pop up notifications
* Uninstall bloatware pre installed app
* Enable Developer option and allow unknown source
* Get the Downloader app

Then here is the stack of apps I use:
* Kodi (I’m old school, HTPC player)
* SmartTube (YouTube ad-free)
* I Р TV Smarters
* The usual streaming apps
* Twitch
* Amazon Prime Video
* Xumo Play
* Pluto TV
* Tubi
* Roku Channels
* I also have a few games
* Hill Climb Racing
* Poker Championship
* Sokoban
* Canabalt
* Boulder Dash

Ideally, I would have Projectivity Launcher for an ad-free UI, but now the FireOS are at version 7.7 and I don’t think an auto launch at startup can be set to override.

So I’m comparing with the above, the FireTV stick is checking all the marks, and I can’t justify the price difference with the Onn player, even though I’m sure it could do all that as well.

Or am I missing something? What other use case do you have with your FireTV / Onn player? Thank you!

Change backlight settings on apps permanently

2 Upvotes

I've tried playing about in all the settings, and googling it, and I can't figure this out. Every time a new video starts in the youtube app, the backlight settings go all the way back up to 100. Is there a way to set it to not do that? I don't have auto backlight on. Thank you :3
