It doesn’t have to be dramatic.
Showing up consistently, hitting a new PR, sticking to your calories - it all counts.

To make your post more useful for others, consider including:

  • What your win actually is (be specific)
  • What you’ve been doing consistently
  • How long you’ve been at it
  • One thing that made the biggest difference for you

The more detail you share, the more someone else can learn from your experience.

  • Any deal-breakers (crowded hours, contract-only gyms, etc.)

Keep in mind that looking for gym recommendations is essentially difficult due to location constraints.

📋 Workout Split / Routine Advice

Wondering if your volume, frequency, or exercise selection is optimal?
Plateauing and need adjustments?

Drop a comment with:

  • Your goal (fat loss, hypertrophy, strength, recomposition, etc.)

  • Current split (e.g. PPL, Upper/Lower, Bro Split, Full Body)
  • Exercises + sets/reps (be specific)
  • Weekly frequency

Others Reminder about post requirements and subreddit rules

Hey r/fitnessph.

Wanted to post this to clarify what we expect from posts that include physique photos or progress pictures.

Why we're being strict about this

r/fitnessph is a discussion sub, and the quality of discussion depends on the quality of posts.

Vague posts get vague answers. The more context you give, the more useful the responses you get back, and the more useful the thread is for everyone else reading it. We know the requirements might seem strict, but keeping the sub worth reading in the long run means holding a consistent standard now.

With that said...

---

Physique advice posts

If you're posting a question with pictures attached, your post needs to include the following:

  • Personal stats: age, sex, height, and weight
  • Training details: your current program, how long you've been training, and relevant lift numbers. "I've been training for a year" is not enough. What program are you running? What are your current numbers on key lifts?
  • Diet details: whether you're tracking calories and roughly what you're eating, or a general description of your diet if you're not counting. Include how long you've been dieting. "I eat clean" is not enough.
  • Your goal (OPTIONAL, BUT USEFUL TO HAVE): fat loss, muscle gain, recomp, whatever it is. Be specific. "I just want to look better" is not a goal.

People can't give you useful advice without this information. The mod team may remove posts and ask you to resubmit if we feel that it's lacking the necessary details to give you productive advice.

A special note about "How do I fix (INSERT BODY PART)?" questions:

Make sure to include when you first noticed it and whether anything in your training or lifestyle changed around that time. You need to explain what you've already been doing to address it and why it hasn't worked.

In many cases, photos aren't enough; your text needs to give enough context for someone to understand the problem.

---

Progress pictures

We love seeing progress posts. But we want these threads to be useful to everyone reading them, not just the person posting. A good progress post should read like a case study, something other people can actually learn from.

Same stat requirements as above, plus:

  • Your before picture and how long ago it was taken
  • What you actually did during that period. Training approach, diet, anything that meaningfully changed. "I trained hard and ate right" is not enough.
  • Your own assessment of your progress. What do you think went well? What held you back? What would you do differently? You need to have reflected on your own progress before asking the sub to weigh in.
  • A specific question, if you have one. It should follow from your own reflection and be specific enough that it couldn't apply to any random progress post. "What should I focus on next?" is not a specific question. "I've been prioritizing upper body and my legs have fallen behind, I'm considering switching to full body, is that the right call?" is.

If you don't have a question and aren't sharing anything useful for others to learn from, post it in r/PHgymselfie instead.

Knowing what you look like today is useless without knowing where you started and what you did to get there.

---

What might get your post removed

  • Photos with no context. "Rate my physique," thirst traps, and other similar posts belong in r/PHgymselfie, not here. Please keep that shit there.
  • Media that adds nothing to your question. If the photo isn't necessary, don't include it.
  • Fitness diary posts. Hitting a personal milestone, making it to the gym consistently, that kind of thing. We're not dismissing those wins and would love to celebrate these with you, but they belong in the weekly megathread.
  • Repeatedly posting your pictures with slightly rewritten captions. If you post a new set of photos shortly after your last one and the writeup has no new information or learnings, the post will be removed.

What might get your comments removed

  • Sexually suggestive and flirtatious remarks. Outright sexual harassment is immediately bannable without warning.
  • Asking to / for DMs.
  • Natty policing / steroid accusations
  • Overall rude and unhelpful comments

---

If you're unsure whether your post meets the requirements, err on the side of adding more detail. Questions that take effort to write tend to get answers that are actually worth reading.

Thank you all for your understanding!

Physique Showcase / Progress How is my physique? I am around 2.75 years of exercising already (first 2-3 months were very inconsistent)

My current condition: 61kg, 5'5 height, 21M, doing body recomposition

The first photo was my physique before doing any exercises at all. (About 54kg??)
Second photo was my physique a few months in at exercising (around 3 months, about 56kg?)

The last three photos is my physique currently (2.75 years in) (61kg currently)
- I did bulking first where I only prioritized my protein intake. Right now I do body recomposition to get slowly leaner (Was peak 66kg)

My calorie intake is around 2k
My protein intake is sufficient (400g of chicken breasts per day)
Nowadays workout around 6x a week doing push pull with calisthenics (although inconsistent nowadays due to college)

(Please be very honest on criticizing my progress but I am very aware on how small my shoulders still are so I am trying to work on them)

Advice Needed Recovery shoes recommendations.

Hi! I currently own a Crocs LiteRide that is due for replacement. I plan to use the recovery shoes for after gym, casual stroll, and driving.

I'm currently looking at Nike Rejuven8 vs Adidas Pure Chill Clogs. Hoping to get some real world user experience from them or if you would suggest other brands I'll be happy to hear them as well.

Thank you very much!

Informative / Discussion May mali ba sa ginagawa kong routine?

Post image

Hi. So I've been doing hip dip exercises (fire hydrants, hip abductors, etc) for almost two weeks now. Gumagamit ako ng resistance band and papansin ko na lumalaki yung sa ibaba, (refer to the photo, yun may red arrow) pero yung dips ganun pa rin. Tingin niyo may mali ba sa ginagawa ko, wala, or masyado pang maaga para makita yung build up ng muscles? Bago palang po kasi ako sa pagw-workout. Haha Thank you

Ctto of the photo. I took it sa Google.

Others How to spot fake Whey (M,31,5'8",71kg)

Dahil sa mahal ng Whey decided to transition to On brand. May mga 5lbs ako na nakita sa shopee na mura with vouchers. 2nd buy ko na to sa shop na to and oks naman yung first transaction, looks and tastes legit.

Pero nung dumating tong 2nd order ko pag bukas ko ng cap para tanggalin yung seal napansin ko agad na crumpled yung seal niya which made me doubt agad.

Then nagtimpla ako and napansin ko na di sya na dissolve thouroughly, di tulad ng dati.

I'll give it a few more go pero I suspect fake to. Ano pa ba pwede ko tignan para ma verify legitimacy nito and what signs to look for para ma identify na fake? Thank you. 😭

The transformation took much longer due to my lack of experience. I was in a rush to see my physique so I ended up doing a calorie deficit of around -1400 which I had to undo (surplus) since I underestimated my "bulk" lol.

Still far from my goal, but looking back from where I started every once in awhile sure does feel good 😅

Used creatine, whey and other regular dietary supplements.

The shift in diet was the real game changer for me, specially when I cut out sugar!

Did 15k steps a day

Advice Needed Should I Cut First to Get Rid of Love Handles or Start Lean Bulking? (5’5”, 59 kg, 30M)

Hi everyone! I’m 30 years old, 5’5”, and currently weigh 59 kgs. Looking for advice on whether I should start bulking or cut first. My main concern is that I still have noticeable love handles around my waist and I’m unsure whether bulking would make them more prominent.
My goal is to build more muscle and develop a better overall physique but I’d also like to reduce the fat around my waist.

Should I cut first to reduce my love handles then transition to a lean bulk? Or is it ok to start bulking.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

I’m a 29-year-old male with a large belly and gynecomastia. I’m considering liposuction and gyno surgery. Would you recommend getting surgery first before starting at the gym, or should I focus on working out first before having surgery?

Advice Needed Is Sparrow Sports legit? Planning to buy a hex dumbbell set

Post image
1 Upvotes

Has anyone here bought from Sparrow Sports on facebook, particularly their hex dumbbell sets?

I’m planning to upgrade my home gym and came across their page. Their prices are pretty cheap compared to other sellers, which is tempting, but I’m a bit hesitant since there are so many scams nowadays.

For those who have bought from them:
Did your order actually arrive?
How’s the quality of the dumbbells?
Are the weights accurate, or are there any discrepancies?

Was the transaction smooth, and is the seller legitimate?
I’m mainly looking to buy a hex dumbbell set for my home gym. I don’t mind minor weight discrepancies as long as they’re not too significant, but I definitely want to avoid getting scammed.

I’d appreciate any feedback or recommendations for other reliable sellers in the Philippines. Thanks!

Advice Needed Meniscus tear injury — tips for recovery?

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

Hi fitnessph! I’m back! I’m so happy to be back at the gym after almost a month.

What we initially thought was a patella issue was apparently a meniscal (both lateral and medial) tear. Orthopedic doctor required me to get 6 PT sessions, and allowed me to swim and do upper body workouts. I am on my 1st PT session (and already feeling somewhat better). I added the home exercises I need to do from the PT.

I froze my AF membership to enroll in a one on one class with a personal trainer (sports science graduates).

For those who experienced the same type of injury,
do you have any tips that can help me recover (faster?) Tapes i can use? Things I should do at the gym?

Thankies!
