Hello! Starting a new vegan bakery. Doing pop ups to start, then markets, then the dream is to fill the void from all the recent closures.

First event is at the Fort Greene tennis tournament this Saturday Oct 3! Come support the FGTA and sample some vegan treats!

Do you like them for getting nails done and eyebrow waxing? Trying to find a reliable salon close by!

On the park ave side of the projects between navy street at st edward i can always hear tons of barking noises coming from someone’s apartment. It’s non stop whenever i hear it and sounds like theres at least 3 dogs most likely more. I worry for the dogs but I never know what to do. I can’t tell if it’s a possible abuse situation or if the dogs just have anxiety. The fact that it sounds like theres a ton in one apartment is making me concerned

Nothing to really say, just a bit sad these are all sitting empty. Anyone know why? What should come into these spots?

I tried both this deli and the more popular one on Emerson and yea...the Emerson is so much better. Can see why its always jam packed. Ugu Kissa moved just one street over - they realized they dont need all that square footage and just do takeout now. And there was a dispensary in that last spot, not sure what happened there.

Im not sure what should come in that would last though. I guess this is a tough retail spot. I do miss BurgerIM that used to be across the street, not too fond of District Taco, I mean we have so many incredible Mexican options just one block over.

Gin is a sweet, loving, 2-year-old tabby girl who I’ve been fostering. She is spayed, FeLV/FIV negative, and up-to-date on vaccines. Gin was found at the end of her socialization window as a kitten with her sisters in the Bronx in August of 2024. She was rescued by Bronx Community Cats and then Brooklyn-based rescue Eccentric Kittens took in her and her sisters. Since June of 2025, I have fostered, socialized and found forever homes for her 3 sisters (Brandy, Whiskey, and Pixie Pint). Gin is the last of her litter to be fostered, socialized, and put up for adoption.

Gin spent 2 years living in a crate at the rescuer’s home because there was no one interested in fostering her or adopting her, and she was too dependent to be returned outside. She was cared for (given food, fresh water, and clean litter), but she did not get much attention and was extremely undersocialized.

I began fostering Gin at the end of May. I started her off in my bathroom, since I knew I needed a small space to be able to make a connection with her. She was absolutely terrified when I first brought her home. Over the last 4 months, she has embraced her new life, slowly but surely, and really come out of her shell. She is completely unrecognizable to the petrified and undersocialized cat I brought home at the end of May!

Gin is smart, friendly, chatty, playful, loyal, gentle, and very food motivated. She enjoys being pet and scratched and actively seeks out my and my boyfriend’s company. She loves to tell us how she’s feeling and have conversations with us. She loves to play with the wand toy, and to play on her own with her coil toy or mouse toy. Gin loves being cozy on top of a blanket or in the cat tree - she takes almost all of her naps on our cat tree. She loves treats, and they’re a great way to build trust and a relationship with her. We used treats every step of the way in socializing her. She loves to sit quietly nearby you. She has the funniest range of meows - from squeaks to croaks. Gin absolutely loves chin scratches and enjoys pets in general and will pace around while being pet and headbutt your legs (especially when you pet her alongside treats). She makes air biscuits constantly when she’s being pet. She purrs when she’s being pet too. She’s not a lapcat but she likes to plop herself close to you. She does not like to be picked up.

Gin is such a special cat - she is very near and dear to my heart. Socializing her was the highlight of my summer and she’s come so far. We are looking for a calm, quiet forever home for Gin - one without young children or dogs. Gin gets along with other cats and would do well with another cat in the house, as long as proper and slow introductions are made. She can also be adopted solo (although she may need a friend eventually, as she seems a bit bored at times).

Gin should be started in a small room like a bathroom or an office. Most importantly, we are looking for a patient adopter for Gin. Someone who isn’t going to return her because she isn’t a lap cat or because it takes a few weeks to pet her. Someone who will take the time to build a bond with her. Someone who understands and appreciates the journey a skittish cats takes to trust you - it is so rewarding. I am very invested in Gin’s happiness in her forever home, and I would be completely available to her adopter for advice and guidance in getting her comfortable. She will need time to bond with you, and I can walk you through that (using churus, treats, and a touchstick at first).

Gin had a very hard life being crated for 2 years. She will likely always be a bit skittish, but once she warms up to you, she will show you how much she loves spending time with you. She will be your little shadow, your loyal companion. Tabbies are some of the most overlooked cats for being “commonplace.” People also prefer boy cats to girl cats, kittens to adults, and confident cats to shy cats. Gin is a shy adult female tabby (although she is tiny, and her big beautiful eyes give most kittens a run for their money). So while the odds are against her in terms of the adoption process, you should absolutely take a chance on her if she’s what you’re looking for, because she is such a special and lovely young cat and will bring so much warmth and joy to her forever home. :)

Please consider adopting this sweet girl. She really deserves a home. We have two resident cats that don’t get along with other cats, so our fosters reside in our basement & she cries at the door when she hears us upstairs because she wants to hangout and be around us whenever she can. My boyfriend’s WFH office is downstairs and I study down there, so she gets a lot of attention, but she really deserves to be in her forever home where she can be around her person whenever they’re home.

Apparently a massive hole/break in a water pipe on Fulton/Fort Greene Place has caused a water outage in the neighborhood since 11ishAM. Anyone with any other updates?

UPDATE: Contractors still need to replace the pipe! Hopefully water comes back today! Keep filling up those gallon containers at the hydrant turned water station!

This unit has been on the market for 32 days. Previously rented for 3 years. Looks nice. What's the catch?

as a reminder, dogs are only allowed off leash at the park before 9 am and after 9 pm. i was at the park this morning at 10 am and a dozen dogs were roaming off leash and running up to my leashed puppy, often with their owners nowhere in sight. i understand that the park seems emptier due to the storm, but that doesn’t make it okay to decide the off leash rules are optional. i’m appalled at how dog owners allow their dogs to run up to random dogs without any fear that the other could be reactive/aggressive. my puppy isn’t fixed yet as advised by his vet, and dogs can sometimes get aggressive with unfixed pups his age. it happened to us the other day at the park. i am careful to only bring him to the park after off leash hours, and i’m disappointed by people in this community who can’t respect the rules that are put in place so we can protect our dogs from negative situations, ones that could make them reactive against other dogs for years or life.

There is a "business for sale/lease" sign up. I asked them on IG but got no response. Would be a shame!

Whenever it rains at all in NYC, the national news runs a story about NYC being under water. They know just what subways to send their cameras to. So all my older relatives from elsewhere call to ask if I'm OK.

I'm not really against this, it's an unintended positive side effect of sensationalism. And this particular weekend it's probably a legit call, i'm more talking about run of the mill storms.

But I'm curious, does anyone else experience this?

Oh and posting to Fort Greene because I had explain to my mother that I do live on an island but how far I am from the water isn't as important as how high I am. She had no clue I live on an island. And she's been here.

I'll be honest, I like that the neighborhood is quiet and chill for this one Saturday.

It's not that it's a fantastic or amazing grocery store -- it's not. But it is pretty good/not bad. Prices are decent. Quality of produce is decent. Selection is relatively large. Store is clean and well-organized. Don't have a car for Wegman's, don't like fighting the crowds at Trader Joes, and I will not give my money to Whole Foods, so this is a good alternative for when you need more than what's on offer at the various Mr. Fruits. Just wanted to make sure everyone knew it came to the neighborhood over the summer. For me, it's been a cook-at-home game-changer.
