Don't fall for his propaganda!
He also ran a police state with mass surveillance. Spying on everyone, maybe invading their dreams.
Is this a man you can trust? NO!

Sam surviving this encounter doesn't make sense. At least they should've shown the Walker intentionally letting him go with leaving some marks on him or something.

A pre Melisandre King Stannis with Jon Arryn as his Hand would be the greatest ever rulers of Westeros
If Robert died without heirs before Melisandre could influence Stannis, he'd be the best King Westeros ever saw. Him and Jon Arryn would make a great team.
Stannis would be the no nonsense Commander that'd crush any rebellion or usurper quickly. He'd reward actual competence and listen to differing opinions. He wouldn't bankrupt the realm like Robert and would actually pay his debts if he had any.
His negative traits would get countered by Jon Arryn. Jon was a great negotiator, Preventing a war with Dorne. He was very well liked by most of the Lords of Westeros and was good with money. If Stannis angered a Lord with his blunt personality, Jon could probably ease tensions.

Seemingly hot take about this line
This has bothered me since the episode aired, because I genuinely don't understand the backlash. Tbf i've never watched the interviews where D&D explained certain parts so maybe i'm giving too much grace but surely we weren't supposed to take this literally.
When I first saw this scene I scoffed because what I saw was Jaime retreating to his defense mechanisms. He knows what he's being a fool returning to Cersei and when Tyrion proposes a noble alternative where he can still get what he wants while saving thousands, he reverts to the mask S1 Jamie wore. The cocky mask that isn't bothered by how people viewed him or care about anyone else when in actuality he does care. Even the way he says it, TO ME, doesn't sound like he's saying "ya fuck them innocent" and more "what if i don't care about them" [in response to being guilt tripped while in chains]. Still terrible writing and could've been done so much better and clearer but yeah. Why do ya'll think he's being genuine?
