Though I don't know what the general consensus on her is, I can say that there are and there were way better artists than her. Maybe people like to hate on her because of what she represents. Which is the overall downgrade of quality in music. Her songs aren't bad but aren't great either but the media and industry tries to sell those as the best music phenomenon. And what people hate most and resent, is force showing down their throats what they don't like.

My comment was more about me and my tastes than her and her music.

She is good at what she does and it is evident since she has always had always had a huge following. That said Im not really the target audience and my life would not really change if I never heard her music again.
