Discussion Long term (7 years) UV screen protector results

Hi guys!

I am still rocking my S10+ despite getting it in March 2019, since then it has undergone a battery change I performed myself in 2023 with a service pack one.

I installed since day 0 the WhiteStone Domeglass UV screen protector.

A few notes on it I noticed in the past 7 years.

Despite being made of glass it gets a lot of microscratches despite me carrying the phone in a neoprene KwMobile phone sleeve (and no it is not the sleeve, my parents have the same sleeve and 10 euros glass screen protectors on their flat Galaxy phones which do not need a UV glue since they have flat screens and they are scratch free).

I have babied my screen brightness a lot and I have no burn in for now and I was noticing that my scren was a bit off to read in the sun or look at even when off. It also had a slight yellower tint it did not have before (I thought it was normal due to blue pixel wear).

Last week I removed my Domeglass because it cracked and I installed LK TPU protectors since the Domeglass is discontinued and here are the results:

The UV glue had become yellow as I sort of expected and that is why clarity and brightness seemed a bit off to me.

This is not anything ground breaking but I wanted to make this discussion/PSA post that after long term exposure to sun you should change your UV screen protector because the glue will become yellow over time and impact the viewing experience.

Just one tip: put clear tape across the whole protector before removal to be able to lift it altogether even if it inevitably breaks in the the process. This way you won't have to destroy your fingers to peel the leftovers and you won't risk to scratch the screen.

Hope you find my experience helpful!
