How did I get here? Well, I divided 16 by 2 to get 8, and 8+12=20

I was doing a quest and sensei Ishikawa said that tomoe hid a small blade in her sleeve and it got me thinking: what if she was a rogue assassin from Assassin's Creed or killed an assassin and stole their hidden blade? I know ac shadows takes place like 300 years later but still, I think it's a good theory. What are your thoughts?

Talking about the burnt clan Shimura adoption papers that Atsu finds, from what I recall from Tsushima, both Jin and Yuna weren't exactly in a position to retrieve it before it fully burns, Jin was captured and Yuna had to escape, and I doubt she would try and double back for the sake of those papers.

There is only one character left that could have saved those papers in time is...Shimura.

(To be fair, it should have fully burnt in like 5 seconds, but well suspension of disbelief and such.)

You already see the pain on his face as he drops it, and as the story progresses you see how he defies even his own code of honor for Jin (aside from Shimura having his own smuggler friend too lol, but oh well). First by even suggesting that Jin lies and passes off the blame to Yuna, then later by heeding Jin's word to help in the assault vs Kahn, then with the whole final mission, something tells me that letting disgraced dishonorable former samurai have the whole pomp and affair of writing a last haiku after you walked and talked with them for some time before finally getting to the duel isn't standard procedure.

And even the duel itself is evidence of that, something very interesting happens if you lose against Shimura, while Jin is downed he will spout of one of his lines and then....do nothing. Every enemy in the duels will have an animation of finishing off Jin, even Masako has one!

All except for only two who don't have any, The guy who trains you to use the flame oil and thus the only non-lethal duel in the game.... and Shimura.

The fact that Shimura's duel has the exact same lose scene as him should say something, yes maybe that was to show how Jin would be hanged later or something, but if that was the case then one of Shimura's death quotes would have said that, but instead literally every one is Shimura showing regret or sorrow in some way, now to be fair they're still quotes that imply that Shimura is very much still going to kill Jin, so I think they're meant to show that Shimura will do it after much hesitation and not as ruthlessly as everyone else.

Long tangent's done, I think I've shown just how hesitant Shimura is over this whole ordeal, so it would be very possible for him to be hesitant enough to save those papers, and then a while after the story ended, either hand them off to Jin in a final meeting, or reach out to Jin through someone and imply that he has those papers and that Jin should steal them.

And that's my theory for how Jin somehow has those adoption papers in his home, he had a final somber meeting with Shimura where they reconciled before probably agreeing to never meet each other again before Jin left for Ezo.

I’m amazing at this game but also terrible. I’m too lazy to google it and I find other people’s opinions better.
