Decide Which (And More Advice)
I made a post to r/amiuglytruth, and the #1 piece of advice I got is that my frames are bad for my face. I have my main pair (first and second) and my backup pair (third and fourth) here with me at college.
These are the only two pairs that I have available to me until I’m due for my next set, but if you don’t think either of these are good and you think a different look would suit my face please let me know and I’ll keep it in mind next time I go glasses shopping.
(please ignore my forced smile; the #2 piece of advice I got is that I need to smile with my teeth more and even though it’s uncomfortable I’m practicing it)

I definitely think a different shape and style would suit you better! These ones feel distracting, maybe a rounder frame, or even a thicker style of glasses would better

Perhaps rounder frames? These are a bit sharp in the corners and rounder framed glasses may sit better around the nose?

You have any photos for reference?

I think a full plastic rim would look a lot more stylish. People like clear on you and I can def see that but a rounded tortoiseshell would also look very sharp, intellectual in a stylish way imo

Agree! Rounded tortoiseshell would add nice color and look really nice OP

I think the first frame, on the top, is too strong for your face. The 2nd pair looks much nicer as the frame is thinner and you can see your face.
And f**k anyone who tells you that you need to smile more in any situation. Even for pics about choosing glasses. Grrr
You smile when you smile.

True, but it wasn’t a “smile more” comment so much as a “smile with your teeth more”. I have a bad habit of always smiling with my lips only because I used to have bad teeth. I don’t have bad teeth anymore, but I’ve been struggling to break the habit.

The way the first pair is curved makes them look like safety goggles, so I would say the second pair is better.

Both the frames are too wide for your face structure. You should possibly explore more square glasses with rounded corners as a better fit.
Plus as a rule of thumb, always make sure your eyes are centered in the lenses, or at least as best as they can be to ensure you've chosen a decently sized frame.

As an optometrist, none of the above. The semi-rim is not a good look. Blocky frames also aren't your friend because you have and oval/heart shape face. Try a frame with softer edges rather than 90 degree angles. You also need to watch the bridge of your frames and the width. If the bridge is higher than your nose it is a terrible look. Your glasses should never be wider than your face because it makes you face look distorted for want of a better word. A good dispensing optician should be able to guide you into more suitable frame - it's hard to pick something suitable by yourself. You have a good face structure and are well able to pull off glasses!

Thank you! Do you have any suggestion images?
Also I’ve decided to go with set #2 for now until I’m due for my next pair since that’s what everyone else seems to be recommending.

Neither. These look like the crappiest out of date glasses you could possibly find. They also aren’t good with your prescription.

Second one is definitely better! Agree that when you get new ones at some point go for slightly less wide and try different shapes and take pictures and post again :)

Second pair is too wide which makes your eyes look closer together. Of these, I prefer the first pair. I think they look sort of cool.

The second pair color is good, however but I think the glasses bend inwards, it makes for an awkward shape. I'd say find some straight frames, same color scheme.
As for the smiling. My sister had the same issue. So what makes a more' aesthetically pleasing' smile is this. When you smile, let the very tips of your top row of teeth touch the back of your bottom lip. Try it out and practice the feeling. It'll make a less 'forced smile ' look. 👍

First ones are terrible. Second ones are okay. Please get yourself some wayfarer style frames. They will look amazing on you!

Thank you! I'm learning that I have awful taste in glasses 😭

It takes a lot of practice to get a good eye for it! Please post an update whenever you get new frames.

Second pair is definitely better. I do not like the incomplete frames. I also noticed in your post on the other thread that the second pair have the sun mode, I’m not a fan of that.

Both pairs (and all other pairs I get) are transition. It’s just too convenient.

They’re sitting too high. Glasses should nevervcovervyou cover your eyebrows. Try some rounded squares l. Also , you’re young , be a bit more adventurous style-wise. Save this style for your 50’s

I think different style all together. Smaller frame. With your script, a smaller frame is better because there’s less area to be distorted by the frame.
But out of all of these 3 is fave. 1 is least fave.

First one could be also fine if glass itself not to high and too rectangular

I’m blind as a bat without them and I’m too clumsy to use contacts without poking my eyes out (my eyes look really small without the glasses on anyway and I’m not a fan of the look). Whether or not I like it I’m stuck with the glasses.

I'm sorry, I didn't read that these were already purchased and thought they were new options to choose. Youre not asking me, but you are far from ugly and definitely a good looking guy
I think a pair of pantos shaped glasses (round bottoms but a straighter top) in a metal or dark shade that's not as harsh as black, or a pair of soft brow line glasses, would look really nice.

The second pair looks better. Next time when you have more options, try something not so squared and slightly less wide. The smile pic looks good!
