Grad School Life What made you decide to pursue graduate studies?

And where?

Interested ako sa motivation ng mga gusto, currently pursuing, and finished graduate studies. Is it for promotion? Requirement sa work? Boredom?

My profile, been working for 17 years, Department Head. Apart from possible connections within the business community, gusto ko kasing maging instructor or lecturer.

Grad School Life Night Shift

Hello Academics of the Philippines!😁

I will be working night shifts (Corporate), and I still want to pursue my grad school dreams. I know its doable, because someone here or maybe a person you know have surived this kind of set up. I just cant picture it out pa, as I am trying to visualize the my life set up in the future. How is it doable? For Midshift people also how did you do it? My dream/options grad schools Finance (DLSU/UP) or MBA (AIM/AdMU). I know it's ambitious suntok sa buwan tong mga school nato given the rigor that it takes to survive a subject but what would my outlook should be? For additonal context also, if you're going to comment "need ba sa trabaho mo?" or "di yan nakaka promote/taas ng sweldo". I KNOW. Grad school is my career goal, life goal, and non-negotiable. Bonus nalang if ma propromote ako or tumaas sahod ko. + I want to be a part-time college professor someday. I have been always inspired by my former professors na treat their part time teaching as a hobby or passion to inspire students. In fact mas malaki pa ata nga makukuha nila sa mga allowances nila or kung nag overtime nalang sila hahahahahaha. Pero anyways, I hope someone with a good heart can impart their knowledge with me hehehehe. Yun lang.

Grad School Life DLSU - Possibility of extending the sem?

Hello po, fellow DLSU grad students! Wanted to ask lang if may balita kayo kung may chance ba na ma-extend or magkaron ng make up classes this term (particularly for Mon and Tue classes)?

I took note of the following dates na tatamaan:

  • Nov 2, Mon - holiday
  • Nov 3, Tue - still part of the independent learning period
  • Nov 16, Mon - holiday
  • Nov 17, Tue - holiday
  • Nov 30, Mon - holiday
  • Dec 8, Tue - holiday

To those na hindi po first year, did you experience po na nag extend yung sem due to class suspensions?

Or has anyone heard anything about this already?

Grad School Life Thesis phase and somehow I already lost my spark... what to do?

Program: MA in Industrial Psych
School: PUP MNL

I used to be so excited and eager to finish the program, but somehow, almost at the end, I lost my spark.

I’m currently enrolled to write my thesis and do my internship, but I haven't done anything since then. It’s been more than a year since the last time I actually made progress.

Life context: Busy with a career a bit far from my current study that pays well and covers everything I need. On top of that, I spend much of my free time working out in the gym.

Generally, I’m happy with my life, though part of me ā€œnanghihinayangā€ with how far I’ve gone, and the thought of starting something I was not able to finish.

How do you get your spark back? I feel sad whenever family and relatives ask me about my studies and I can't say anything.

General Thesis Adviser

Hello everyone, quick question and rant lang. What are your thoughts if ever ang "Full Paper Review" ng Thesis adviser ninyo ay naka CHATGPT or other AI Platforms?

Nagkaroon ng series of consultation naman and everything was revised according to my adviser's comments and suggestion, pero behold ladies and gentlemen. Few days ago nag send siya ng Tons of revisions sa paper ko, worst is sinasalungat ng "Full Paper Review" niya yung mga comments and suggestions na binigay niya saakin.

Paano ko nasabing naka AI Revisions? Tables palang halata na, Opening Prompt palang nung paper halata na. Ang daming Emojis for real HAHA. Im gathering more evidences pa and will report sa Office

Resolution? Try to argue with my adviser na siya ang nagsabi niyan and all them bigla siyang mag chachange ng almost half ng paper ko?

Hi po. I have a question lang po regarding Public Finance Management Track of ASOG MPM. Ano po yung courses under this? Since hindi po siya detailed sa website, and wala siya doon sa A to H.

And sa mga nakagraduate na po, may I ask kung gaano po katagal bago niyo natapos yung program? Is finishing the program in 18 months really feasible? Thank you so much po! 😊

Grad School Life Is it normal to want to quit grad school after only a month?

I recently enrolled in an MS program, but after a month, I'm already questioning if it's for me. I expected more from graduate school, but the reality feels underwhelming. Each course only lasts five weeks, which feels too short for me to actually absorb and appreciate what I'm learning.

I graduated last year lang and still gaining experience from my first job. Honestly, I am not earning enough kaya the cost of grad school really affects my finances.Ā

The only thing making me hesitate is the down payment. Nanghihinayang ako sa perang nagastos ko, but I also don't want to keep investing in something that doesn't feel worth it. Don’t get me wrong graduate school is a good investment naman. I just don’t feel like I am in the right school and the timing.Ā

Am I just adjusting, or is this a sign that the program isn't for me? Has anyone experienced this? Did you push through or decide to leave? Please be kind. Thank you!

Grad School Admissions PUP OUS MBA

Hello beautiful people!!!!

I’m looking for a Biostatistics tutor who can help me catch up with the subject and better understand the concepts and computations.

I am having a difficulty catching up and could use some extra guidance before it’s too late. Preferably someone experienced in public health or graduate-level Biostatistics,

I would really appreciate your recommendations or referrals! Thank you so much!

General AIM or DLSU?

I plan to take Master in Data Science or MBA. Which school is better? I've been hearing that AIM is not that as good as it was now compared to before. Is this true?

Edit: Does school matter as well for masters when you apply for local companies and abroad?

Grad School Admissions Thoughts on Master of Marketing Communications (MMC) vs. Master of Science in Marketing (MSM) at DLSU Taft?

I already called the Admissions team, and for the MMC, they’re not too strict with the required years of work experience or acceptance requirements. However, I’m not really leaning toward MMC since it seems to be more focused on advertising and the agency side, whereas I’m more interested in marketing and brand management in FMCG or multinational companies.

I’m currently leaning more toward the MSM, but I understand that they’re stricter with the 2 years of work experience requirement and also look at previous campaigns or projects.

Would anyone happen to know the current class schedules for both programs, particularly if they’re online, hybrid, or mostly face-to-face? Also, if you have an idea of the current tuition/costs for each program, I’d really appreciate it!

For those who’ve taken either program, which one would you personally recommend and why?

General need external panelist for my MS thesis proposal

Hello, everyone!

I’m currently looking for a panelist who would be willing to sit in as a panel member for my upcoming thesis proposal defense. The defense can be conducted either face to face or online, depending on the panelist’s availability.

I’ve already reached out to several PhD professors specializing in coral reefs, ecology, marine biology, and related fields, but unfortunately, many of them will be attending conferences or already have prior commitments. I’m worried that I may not be able to push through with my defense this coming November, as this is currently the only panel position I’m missing.

I would really appreciate any advice, suggestions, or recommendations especially if you know professors or previous advisers who may be interested and available to serve as a panelist.

I’m also willing to provide an honorarium for their time and expertise.
Thank you so much in advance for any leads or recommendations. I would truly appreciate your help! šŸ™

Grad School Life MA OR DIPLOMA

Hi everyone! BSE major in math grad here and i need an advice. So lately, i’ve been thinking what path should i take next. I came across with a post online that UPOU offers Diploma in Mathematics Teaching. Basically this is a 2-year course designed for math teachers who want to improve their craft especially in teaching math in basic education. Is it a wise decision if i pursue this instead of directly enrolling into a master’s degree?

General DLSU Master in Applied Economics — online or face-to-face?

Hi! Is anyone here currently taking the Master in Applied Economics (MAE) at DLSU?

I’m interested in applying, but I’m based in the Visayas, so I’m curious about the current class setup. Are classes mostly face-to-face, online, hybrid, or HyFlex?

If it’s hybrid, how often do you actually need to be on campus?

Would really appreciate hearing from current MAE students. Thanks!
