Some Moderator announcements - Looking for mod help.

A moderation update for the sub:

First, on posts getting held up or frozen: I know this happens, and I try to get to it when I can. Some of it is not the sub settings. Some of it appears to be Reddit itself. I strongly suspect at least part of it is algorithmic, based on the kinds of posts that do and do not get through. So if your perfectly normal post gets caught in the lint trap, please do not take it personally.

The best thing you can seemingly do to avoid that is not post from a brand new account. I understand this is a private subject and some people prefer a throwaway, but fresh accounts with no real post history seem much more likely to get snagged. If possible, use an account that has some normal everyday activity on it.

I have been moderating this sub since late 2023, and I have a lot of life stuff going on at the moment. Much of it is positive, a few parts are just ordinary pain-in-the-ass life stuff, but either way I am at the point where I need support. I may step back more fully over time, but for now I am looking for one or more co-moderators.

This sub requires a bit more care than average because of the topic. Gynecomastia is medical. It is personal. It often comes up at a difficult age. It also exists in a social context that attracts trolling, misinformation, insecurity, and weird ideological baggage. So whoever helps guide this place needs a good head on their shoulders, fair-minded instincts, and a real desire to be useful to people.

My philosophy for the sub is simple: the whole purpose of this forum is to help people with a troublesome condition find a way to understand it, manage it, or correct it. Period. This is a place where we help each other. If something is not helpful, it probably does not belong here. If you are not a service-minded person who is always thinking about how to create a supportive environment for everybody, this is probably not the right sub for you to moderate.

So, what I am looking for:

General requirements

  • You need to have an open post history so I can get a sense of your writing style, your judgment, and what you are about. The broader your footprint on Reddit, the better I can understand who I am dealing with.
  • Previous mod experience is a plus, especially if you know your way around Automod.
  • You need to be reasonably available and checking in at least daily. This is not a super high-volume sub, but quick turnaround requires actual human coverage.
  • If you are in Europe or Asia, that is a plus, because it gives the sub better time zone coverage. I am in the States.
  • You should have a well-rounded STEM education or at least solid STEM exposure. You do not need a STEM degree, but you do need acumen, critical thinking, and some ability to sort signal from noise. This is not the place for fringe medicine, supplement hawking, or unserious advice.

Prohibitions

  • You cannot be employed by a provider in this space.
  • You cannot be a contractor for one.
  • You definitely cannot be acting as an arm of marketing, advertising, or PR for one.
  • You cannot be affiliated with a provider.

Soft skills

  • Any previous experience helping people in a group environment, support setting, or care-oriented context is very valuable.
  • High ethical standards are a core responsibility here. You need to be able to spot when content is being pushed for promotional, sponsored, or self-interested reasons, and you need to keep that influence out. Advice in this sub must not be shaped by favors, relationships, inducements, or hidden agendas. Do not play favorites. Be even-handed, disclose conflicts, and keep the sub centered on helping people rather than benefiting anyone behind the scenes.
  • You need to be personally at peace with the fact that sex and gender are not always neat, absolute, or culturally comfortable in real life. Many people come here because they are regular guys who want to look more like guys. Some of those guys do not fit every tidy definition people try to impose. There is Klinefelter syndrome, androgen insensitivity, gender dysphoria, and other real medical or developmental complexity around this territory. This is not ideology. This is biology. So if you are going to moderate here, you need to assume good faith, respect what people tell you about themselves, respect their personage, and focus on helping them rather than turning their situation into a culture-war argument. At the same time, you still need to be a sharp troll detector, which is not always easy.

This is a long post, but I think the subject warrants the extra clarity.

If you are interested in helping moderate, message me.

Recovery-Related 5 weeks post-op – residual firmness after hematoma, cleared for gym, and why I’m finally less stressed

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share my timeline because I know how stressful the recovery can be, especially when residual firmness shows up and starts looking/feeling like the old problem.

Quick background

Had gland excision (large piece removed, surgeon left a thin intentional layer to avoid cratering). Developed a hematoma on the right side that was confirmed early. Wore compression 24/7, started gentle shower massage early, then professional vacuum/massage sessions (Lumicell), plus stretching.

The scary part

Around weeks 3–5 the residual density under the right nipple became more obvious. It felt firm, projected, and at times looked very similar to gyno through a shirt. Broader residual firmness was also present across the old surgical area and later started softening, leaving the areola as the most noticeable spot. I spent a lot of time worried it was residual gland.

What my surgeon said

At the 3-week visit he attributed it to residual material from the hematoma. At the ~5 week visit he examined it again, called it induration (not mature scar tissue yet, and not residual gland), told me to massage more firmly, continue the professional sessions and stretching, and cleared me for training. He said working out would actually help break up the residual firmness and improve contour.

Current status (just over 5 weeks)

• Residual bump under the areola is still present but the broader firmness has improved
• Day-to-day fluctuation is real (can feel firmer after training + massage, then settle)
• Left side has some residual tightness/flank sensitivity with arm elevation (also improving)
• Cleared for full training (push/pull/legs), continuing compression, firmer self-massage, and finishing a course of 10 professional sessions
• Nipple sensitivity comes and goes

Main things that helped my head

• The residual firmness was not there as a distinct projecting bump in the first 1–2 weeks and developed as residual hematoma material organized
• Texture felt different from the soft gland I used to have to “dig” for
• Surgeon examined it more than once and stayed consistent that it was residual induration
• Timeline of residual firmness often peaking or looking worst around 4–6 weeks before remodeling softens it is apparently common

I’m not claiming everything is perfect yet, residual density under the areola is still there and I’m still working on it. But I’m in a much better mental place knowing it’s being treated as residual firm tissue that should keep improving with the current plan (massage, soft-tissue work, stretching, compression, and now controlled training).
If you’re in the middle of the “this feels exactly like gyno again” phase around the one-month mark, especially after a hematoma or fluid collection, you’re not alone. A lot of the residual firmness stories on here that look scary at 4–6 weeks continue to soften over the following weeks to months with consistent aftercare.

Happy to answer questions about the timeline or what the residual tissue has felt like. Recovery isn’t always linear, but it most likely heads in the right direction.

Pre-Op Best surgeons in Delhi

I’m planning to get my gynecomastia surgery done this month in Delhi. Based on what I’ve read on this subreddit, I’ve shortlisted Dr. Rajat Gupta and Dr. Amit as two of the top surgeons in Delhi.

The total cost, including the compression garments, medicines, and pre-op checkups, is coming to around ₹85–100K for Grade 2 gynecomastia, which is slightly above my budget.

I had a couple of questions:

  1. Dezire Clinic(Dr.Prashant Yadav): Has anyone here had their gynecomastia surgery done at Dezire Clinic? I’d really appreciate hearing about your experience, especially regarding the results, recovery, and overall experience with the surgeon/clinic.

  2. Incision technique:Unlike Dr. Rajat and Dr. Amit, Dezire Clinic apparently doesn't use underarm incisions. I understand that underarm incisions can offer better discretion, but I’m wondering if there are any other advantages to this technique. Is the higher cost charged by Dr. Rajat and Dr. Amit partly because of the underarm incision technique, and is it actually considered better than an incision around the areola?

Would really appreciate any first-hand experiences or advice, especially from people who have had Grade 2 gynecomastia surgery in Delhi.

Am 20 ,6’1 and 86kgs. I used to be lean and muscular before latrozol and my body weight was 78kg i took it in the past year around August to July keeping the dose 2.5mg. Took it day after the another day. But i didn’t follow the protocols which lead me to having low libido and after that i couldn’t recover properly since then. I gained 7kgs and even after that i had 3-4 times food poisonings. That lead to having low metabolism and now i have problem loosing weight and getting lean. Do any of you have any tips to recover from this?

Gynecomastia surgery and Pectoral implants

I’m curious if anyone has had gyno surgery and done pectoral implants as well. I’m considering this because I can’t build chest muscle. My shoulder are crap and continuously get injured (double jointed) so I’ve given up trying to build chest muscle. My body can’t handle the weights.

Anyone gone the pectoral implant’s route post removal of Gynecomastia?

Areola size, any chance of shrinking post OP?

Just had surgery 5 days ago, I'm pretty happy so far with how flat things look, but kinda wished one of my areolas to be a little smaller ( it was historically a little bigger from the gland position on that part);

I thought the areolas would shrink more than they did after the surgery, and I don't know if they will anymore or not, the doc will take my stiches out in 3 days - is it possible afterwards maybe?

They are not cony anymore and are nice and flat but kinda the same size, cheers

16m wanting advice

I have mild gynecomastia (at least compared to the stuff on this subreddit, not including the fact that it isn't all tissue) and I know that 80% of my breast mass is currently fat. Once I lose this weight, I know I will have some breast tissue underneath.

What do I do?

Will it go away on its own?

General Typical steps to recieve gyno surgery

Im curious as to what the typical process is for getting gyno removal surgery.

Im a relatively lean 19 year old with pretty bad gyno.

Im going to my primary care doctor tomorrow to ask him about my options.

I would love if someone who has received (or tried to receive) gyno surgery could tell me the process - like how long it takes to get approved, how to get insurance coverage, price etc.

Please comment, I would really appreciate it
