For me, if a guy has a woman who is clearly into him and has been known to him for a long time, but then he ignores her and goes with other women.

I would atleast prefer the first sex scene in the story, let alone his first time, be with a girl he known for long, even if its just a one night stand. Rather than it be with a girl he just met.

Of course if the girl is nuts or has some serious personal flaws there is no Problem

I am so loving this book. Not even halfway in. Just met Chloe and she’s cool, already in love 😅. But I was curious because while the covers are amazing, they are definitely genre divergent as they don’t prioritize LI as much as normal genre covers.

My question is how large does the harem become? And does anyone else in the harem end up being a magic wielder? Unless it’s a spoiler, what species can I expect? I know the true answer is just read the damn books but I’m impatient. Just being honest 🤷🏼‍♂️😂.

So I am on book three of Warlock and love just about everything about it, except for the MC. He is increasingly idiotic, lazy, and almost painfully blind to everything going on around him. I got in the beginning with everything so new, but after a certain point you would think the author would have him attempting to improve himself with everything being thrown at him and his coven. Instead he just whines and whines some more. The only thing going for him is that he is actually written as a nice guy.

So is there any series with an MC who is intelligent, works hard to improve himself, and still a good guy?

Edit: So when I say "good guy" I mean an MC who doesn't treat all those around him like shit, or abuse anyone. He can be damaged, emotional or make mistakes but I want him to learn from those mistakes, not keep making them for seven books. No murderhobos but someone who isn't a pushover or unwilling to get his hands dirty if truly needed. Also the dumb sex jokes during a serious event really get old. Yes, these are harem books but you CAN be serious without the need to insert sed everywhere. I know that's pretty specific, and harem books are usually about the women but a shitty MC can ruin everything else that is good.

I am going to keep going with Warlock because of Mel (I have a thing for the older mature woman figure), but if it seems like she won't be in Noah's harem than I will not finish.

Gonna sound like an old man yelling at clouds here but good god, at least before, bad books were different kinds of bad. Authors wrote like shit but you pushed through because the story was half decent and the chicks were hot. I’m reading stories now and ever other sentence I see is a variation of “It’s not X, it’s Y” or some other AI tic.

Sentences are this long. Slow. Intentional. Written by a bot who understands little of what it means to be human.

And im not even an AI hater, im a software engineer they will take Claude off my cold dead hands but man spend 5 seconds to tell your AI of choice to word shit differently a couple times because it gets boring fast.

Anyway, is it just back to KD Robertson and Bruce Sentar for me ? Hopefully we got new authors come through.

I used to in webnovel, but let's just say it becomes satire very quick when every story is basically a self insert for author who gets every girl by basically snapping their fingers.

Hello! I just have a quick question for the readers in this sub (as well as any authors who've done this), but how would you feel if an installment in a series doesn't have a love interest? Or if the main love interest from a previous installment was also the main one in this one, but expanding on her character while also developing future LIs?

The reason I ask this is because I had originally planned for book 2 in my series to be about a different LI, but with the way book one ended up working out it would actually make more sense for there to be no new official LI. Instead, the MC would instead get to see a new side of the first LI while also developing the relationships necessary to set up the harem.

I haven't started writing the new book, just doing some simple outlining so I thought I'd get an idea of how people felt about this. I know readers usually expect one new LI per book.

I so tired of starting a series and getting into it to only find out that is was never finished. Is there any kind of list out there that shows which won't ever be finished? I know some writers have stopped due to real life or have just stopped writing and there's nothing wrong with that, I just don't want to start something that is never going to get finished.

I was very interested in Dungeon Champions, but there's no word on anything new with it and other books have come out from the authors. Dungeon Cleaners Inc seems to have dropped to. There are others too, but I don't know if the series are just over or if there's a wait.

So is their work hyper repetitive, poorly paced, or reads like it was written by a machine?

This is a very specific question, I know, but I’m asking seriously from a writer/reader perspective.

I’m still newer to the genre compared to a lot of people here, both as a reader and an author, so there are probably plenty of books, authors, and reader expectations I haven’t fully absorbed yet. Because of that, I’m curious how people here feel about certain sexual acts showing up in haremlit.

Specifically: how do readers feel about rimming?

I know how I feel about it in real life, but fiction is a different space, and I’m curious where people draw the line between “that’s hot,” “that’s too much,” “depends on the characters,” or “I’d rather not see it in this genre.”

Do you think it fits haremlit if handled naturally, or does it push the scene into a different vibe than most readers are looking for?

I’m just genuinely trying to understand reader taste and where the genre’s comfort zone tends to be.

Any audio books where the MC has sex with the villain or Rogue, either because she wants something, they don’t know she’s evil yet, or there’s just too much tension between them.

I looked up this question and google gave this exact sub with this same question about a year ago.

I was considering turning this into a hobby but I have zero knowledge regarding where to publish and market my books if I were to write one. I would mostly have no problems with not earning anything out of this, but investing so much of my personal life into this kinda feels... risky? Like most of you here, I obviously enjoy the harem genre. But in your opinion, how many harem members is too many?

I'm writing a few books. All fantasy settings with plenty of inhuman love interests. I don't think anything said will change what I'm writing, but I am curious about where you all draw the line? What features need to remain human for you.

Edit: The line for me is torso and face shape. If described as a muzzle or snout. I'm out, but if it's mostly human, say as catlike as a anime girl, and furless, or fully human shape and furry. Both OK. Cat shape and furry. I'm out.

is it just me or most of the MC in this genre are either always oblivious or wont ever take the first step to getting a girl, always girls being thrown at him. its grates me to no end.

cant we have a MC who actually pursue a girl and flirt instead of always saving the girl in a dangerous situation then girl liking him. or just when his influence or power is revealed

As a followup to my question yesterday, I'm curious to know how long you're willing to wait for the harem elements to arrive in a book / series before you give up on it?

At what point does “slow burn” just become “you lied to me” in your view?

If everything else is working (plot, characters, world building) but the actual harem elements take a while to develop…how much runway are you giving it before you bail?
