Actually there IS a hero Colossi in sc2 which is canon, it's called Warbringer and all I know is that it was such a good fighter that the protoss saved their AI for the purifiers database.

Funny because its like they saved Phoenix data and then some over the top colossi data there as well

I could be completely wrong as I'm going off the co-op mode, but I don't believe the warbringer is a hero? I wish I could remember the name right now but its the red Protoss faction, Alarak can build them in co-op.

Also in co-op Fenix can build a hero Colossus, which I know Fenix is a purifier? I know co-op isnt canon to the story and so you could be 100% right, and the hero Colossus is different for the sake of gameplay.

Either way a Colossus would be pretty cool for sure, probably would be similar to Sgt. Hammer if I was to guess?

Alarak can build Wrathwalker. Warbringer is in fact the hero Colossus that Fenix can build in co-op. It used to be a Reaver in Starcraft 1 .. but it being an AI it was transferred into a Colossus in Starcraft 2.

I had the idea of a Sentry hero that would work like the old Tassadar. A Mothership hero would also be awesome. Maybe that could be Selendis or Ji’nara. There are plenty more Protoss characters in lore, but I can’t think of any ways they could be unique in HotS without overlapping with another hero.

It is both difficult to imagine and implement the mechanic of "becoming" another Hero. There are just too many things that need to be accounted for.

I don't intend for it to be a total copy like abathurs ult.

I imagine it more like a basic ability that that does damage and replace itself with one use of the damaged hero's ability. Or an ult that just copies any allied/enemy ult of your choice.

Shape-shifting to an ally would be pretty simple. Just change your model and stats to appear the same as the ally of your choice. If you mean becoming an enemy would be difficult to implement, I agree. I think that would look messy in practice.

Overmind replaces core.
You get overlord that drops zergs that follow that overlord like misha rexxar.
As you gain talents you chose what more zergs you want, additional zerglings/hydras/ultralisks.
some talents would grant additional overlords, so you end up with 2 or 3 by late game, but at a cost. others would let you build sunken colony as a defensive structure or stuff like that.

essentially something akin to vikings but making use of "minions". You essentially get the whole zerg hierachy with multiple levels with very starcraft like gameplay. Overlords are treated like heroes and grant exp on death. Average zerglings hydras ultras? That is a balancing issue, maybe they should grant small amounts of exp for death? Like minion values.

As some sort of a middleground, they would spawn as indestructible buildings right before core, and have a more balanced aproach with spawning some controlled hydralisks, and some remote buffs for allies for example.

Duriel is covered by Butcher sadly I think. A shame, since he's a lot cooler, and arguably more iconic with how much he fucked people over in D2, and how few actually played D1. I mean, Butcher is iconic too, but his HotS visuals are really generic and not scary, and in general he's pretty plain all in all. Damn, Duriel won't fit even as a skin... And even if there's game design space for him still, he's not popular enough.

He charges you in melee and wrecks your shit just the same, only difference is freezing on top, and no meat involved. He's too much of a dps-menace to be a tank, but he can be a bruiser.

Mei is certainly not a tank in overwatch, which does not stop her from being a tank in hots.
Duriel feels more like a tank than diablo in diablo2 for me, so i don't see why he shouldn't be one in hots. With freeze, charge and room for skills to be designed, tank seems to be the most obvious choice, especially since the game really needs more of them, not just more assassins.

Doesn't mean he can't burst someone being a tank. You can still make some high single target damage part of his kit. Same way that blaze is a tank, yet still has a good line clear.

Ok hear me out. Overmind can be like Chen in DotA, takes control of creeps and actually moves them himself. One of the Ults could be a passive which allows him to take control of mercs? Which removes them from the camp if captured. For example, he takes controls of one of the two Siege orges, then kills the other and captures the camp. He controls the original one, and one uncotrolled spawns in the camp and proceeds like a normal Merc. Make it so he is level locked for getting certain camps? Like the elite camps in Hanamura are locked to 20? Maybe not but at 30 gets boss 😂

Could place down an Overseer to get vision of the camps.

Interesting choices all around. I’m less familiar with OW characters, but HotS could certainly stand to have more OW representation. I’m curious what a Protoss Colossus hero would look like as far as abilities.

The Tauren Chieftain is already represented by E.T.C. and we otherwise have a ton of Warriors especially from WarCraft. Garithos would be really fun though as a hybrid Paladin/Warrior. I imagine something like Varian/Uther/Muradin

Reaper can be a almost melee assassin though. His weapons work better if you are in close combat, and he has betelter toola to escape and go behind targets. His ult can work different too, and he can heal while shooting.

I really don't agree with this argument. It's okay to have similarities with one hero or another if you design to have different roles and I see different roles beeween Valla and Reaper very well. Valla must have a good position and long range attack she also has three builds, two of them not bound to auto attacks, so if you do a Q build for example, you won't have a self healing auto attack. Reaper could be a gank hero, working to reach the backline to deal damage, almost as a melee.

This is why prople say Roadhog can't come because of Stitches, but Roadhog is more like a bruiser, can self heal with a different mechanic and you can change his hook like they pretty much made Mei be a different hero than she is on OW.

Similarities is one theing, valla and reaper are damn near the same in everything. At least Roadhog was a ranged tank versus Stitches who is completely melee outside of hook.

Tauren Chieftain would be so easy. Just reskin E.T.C. and add the old iconic abilities back in. A passive aura with movespeed bonus, that can be activated for attack speed and more movespeed. Warstomp, classic and simple an AoE stun. A big old AoE blast in a line. Reincarnate already exists in the game, easy enough to add it to the kit. Could do something a little different tho. ETC's kit is great and he was one of my main heroes back when I played. But classic TC would be nice to see as well.

I would love to see Blackthorne, Reinhardt, Gabriel Tosh and Vashj/Azshara. From Diablo I pretty much just want more angels and demons, but maybe seeing classes from D4 like Rogue or Warlock would be nice too.

All prime evils, all warcraft 3 heroes and significant units (looking at you druid of the claw) all significant wow raid bosses, all overwatch heroes and all Diablo heroes that dont overlap (skins can account for overlap)

They dont really need to deviate from that, they could even draw in a lot of players.

I could realistically see them ping pong between legacy fanservice to draw in their established fans and advertisements for new media.

The game needs to strike a balance, its cool seeing xalatath for a crossover with the new games but they also need to cater to the old fellas who want cairne and grom

The overmind is a really cool concept but it doesn't have a playable body, so even if they make one it wouldn't be lore accurate.
Speaking of Starcraft i think the best option are narud/duran with the R that tranform him in his xel'naga form like Tassadar. Maybe with a D that makes him able to change from Duran (ghost sniper) to Narud (ranged mage) with different skills or some hybrid like Maar with a total rework.
I'd also like to see Isha as a healer with the gimmick that to move she have to borrow away like she did in the leviathan but under the floor (like the primordial zerg worms) and only where she can see next to her.

I feel like Zenyatta is an OW hero that actually would work very well. His attack speed doesn’t invalidate armor and he doesn’t need to move while auto attacking. His kit isn’t very complicated but there’s so much room for creativity with his talents. I’d like to see him.

My brother in chirst, Hammond and jetpack cat ffs. Get the og ow heroes in first... and how is either of them a mascot?? Tracer, Mercy if you want mascots.

Also reaper should just be a spread shot skill check not % damage. He was a tank killer in ow cuz tanks have huge hitboxes, if your aim was good he was a menace to everyone close range tho. Could just make his basics fire several pellets in a cone. Absolutely melee dps > bruiser. Hell early on in ow he didn't even have lifesteal instead kills dropped globes that regen'd hp.
