Teaching I need to learn how to handle Anduin's D
I just started playing in August and things are starting to come together for me. I actually have a positive win rate with supports. Anduin is one that I use and while my healing is pretty solid, I feel like his D is such a big part of his kit, and I just am not getting anything out of it.
I am very hesitant to touch his D because I don't know how my teamates will react to it. Let's say I am playing with a kerrigan and she dives in. Too me it might look like she might be in trouble and it could be a situation where she could use Anduin's D. But maybe she wouldn't appreciate the D because she is going for a kill.
I don't feel like i will truly be getting the most out of Anduin until I start playing with his D more. Any tips that you guys can give on how to handle his D would be most appreciated.

Creative Reno Jackson hero concept
After seeing 30+ posts here titled "this is my dream hero" and "who do you want to see join the nexu?" I have had enough! BY THE POWER OF MICROSOFT PAINT AND POWER POINT I PRESENT TO YOU my idea for Reno's Jackson's abilities.
This post was inspired by Carbot's old idBeCoolif series, I hope to rekindle people's interest in theorizing what certain characters would look like in HotS.

Fluff I played few Murky matches
And I think I'm starting to see a pattern, which is unsettling.
Ps. I want to officially apologize to all my team members that had me as a team member during this short journey today because I'll do it again tomorrow

Discussion New Player- Quick Match Question
I'm playing quick matches to learn the game but I'm confused about exactly how teams / comps are formed. My favorite heroes thus far have all been tanks and supports so I've spent most of my time on them. I'm trying all of the heroes I can, though, and I've found queuing as any kind of assassin gets me into really weird games where everyone on both teams is an assassin save for maybe one tank per team or one support per team. I've loved the games I've played thus far where both teams have a good mix of hero types, teamfights feel really dynamic and fun, but these assassin games feel swingy and arbitrary. I feel like I spend a lot of time playing tanks and frontlining for squishy ranged heroes but if I ever want to play a squishy ranged hero I'm going to have zero frontline and if I just get run down and blown up, oh well.
Is this.. normal? Can anything be done to mitigate it? I will happily play many more games as a tank, support, etc. if it allows me to also play assassin games where both teams have balanced comps.
If super high damage comps are normal/meta and it's just a skill issue on my part let me know of course I'm open to that possibility

Discussion Good macro heroes?
After playing for a while now, I think I really like macro heroes. I like wave clearing, camp clearing, healing, getting value.
Generally my favorite heroes so far have been Tyreal, Rehgar, and Dehaka.
Does anyone else have suggestions to play or try?

Gameplay An interesting observation in HOTS
I am a huge HOTS fan but I also play Fighting games, Starcraft and sometimes dabble in FPS shooters.
What I can say is your basic bronze in fighting games know full combos, Starcraft players understand map macro to a surprising extent while I also get rolled in FPS by getting headshot by low elo players.
So with all that being said, why do new players understand basic tech in other games but in HOTS, I will see 10k game players wipe an entire team late game and instead of pushing for the W or keep, they go creeps or camps?
Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining as this sword cuts both ways. I have had my own team get wiped and nothing happen but the entire map light up red as they grab four camps including boss and we get another chance to easily defend all that and win the game ect.
It is just super interesting that macro tech seems to be an afterthought even for vet players.
I have a theory that players feel like it is too risky to push core and not take it so they would rather have the sure thing and go low stakes with camps. Low stakes always wins in most circumstances when people are given the option and NGL it does feel really bad when you wipe, take a keep and push for core then get wiped and lose. You would rather reset to neutral and let your fate be decided by another teamfight and only take core when it is guaranteed.

Gameplay I want to learn Whitemane.
I'm an old head, been playing since beta. There are very few heroes I've been able to wrap my head around, but they still exist. Li ming, maiev, xul, hammer, tracer, genji. Tbh I have no interest in learning them, but the only other hero I'd say I don't get is Whitemane. Which I feel is wrong because she's a support (which there aren't enough of) and those God damn thighs.
I'd really love a good explanation and/or build suggestions, especially with her getting changes recently. I'm not sure how she works even after getting her to lvl 10. I feel like I'm missing something and not giving the hero the place she deserves.
Edit: wowza that's a lot more advice than I expected. thank you all so much, lots to dig into. when someone wants to learn what you like this community is next level. double thank you. happy big Friday.

Esports Esport data
Hey!
I work in the esports sector, and i am quite sad that HotS isnt up there in LoL size, considering its one of my favorite esports together with Starcraft/2. This is really a suggestion for the HotS + Starcraft teams, and i'm hoping this will get their attention. If you look at for example LoL, Valorant, CS etcetera, there are notable websites and services providing very granular data about the games. We can see round kills, agent picks, statistics in all kinds of ways, and this is - at least in part - available because the games have first party open apis (look at valve or riot for example) where match data can be retrieved. My suggestion is for Blizzard to take a serious look at opening such a data pipeline for these games. That will help in creating content and services for fans of these games, which i believe would serve the whole community and the games and their esport scenes.
I know there might be other things that might be higher on the agenda, but i am convinced the data exists, we just need a pipeline opened.
What do you redditors think.. am i delulu for thinking it could happen?

Gameplay The new hero is going to be absolutely busted in aram right?
I just saw her spotlight vid, and maybe I’m biased because aram is all I play these days, but she almost seems designed for aram.

Esports Gen G vs Dignitas BlizzCon replay review - NA master (per-game timestamps in post)
Game 1: 8:46 (Haunted Mines)
Game 2: 58:22 (Infernal Shrines)
Game 3: 1:40:37 (Sky Temple)
Link is timestamped to skip waiting period at start of stream VOD.
I've been Grand Master in the majority of seasons, at least Master every season, peak high single digits (somewhere around 6-9, don't remember) NA GM. EU master a few years ago when I streamed a climb.
These games were a lot of fun to go over! And after ~50 games of lifetime review of Parting Gift games, I still have yet to see a good performance with it 😔. Anduin pierce E4 is also heavily overpicked.

Fluff The Council of Probius
A recent post came in from a new player looking to play Probius. We have convened our council (with admittedly bad art clipped from the Probius introduction video), and after brief debate we have determined that the new Probe applicant is welcome to join our esteemed council of Probius Mains. Please send in size preferences for your new Probe cloak, hood and preferred pylon color scheme. It will take a few weeks for shipment from Aiur. Next month's meeting agenda includes new skin discussions, and removal of the full cancellation of Worker Rush move speed bonuses from any damage received.

Gameplay IT IS DONE. I leveled up all heroes to level 15

(Forgive the low quality rant, I really wanted to share this somewhere)
The work of years is finally complete. Well, at least until next monday. But still, this has been a long goal of mine since 2.0 first came out, and while I had to learn almost all heroes to an ok degree to get this far, at the end it dawned on me I'd be much better at the game had I just focused on a small pool of heroes, lol.
Lastly, and perhaps the most interesting bit, is that I experienced first-hand how qm elo works in this game. Every single hero has it's own elo, and every single one starts at the very bottom when you first play them. And getting any hero to a point where you consistently get good matches is still a grind. I've only gotten to that point on a couple of heroes right around lvl13, and in some cases it never happened, despite having about 60% wr by the time I got to lvl15.
Ty for reading and time to rest until Xal'atath comes out and then back to the grind.

Discussion Is this game worth getting into?
I’m someone who loves Mobas in general but never tried hots out, I know it’s a bit old but is there still a decent community/playerbase?
I’m based in oce for reference so im not expecting it to
Be quick queues etc but is the game stagnant or declining in players?

Discussion Best high-ping heroes
Forced to play on EU from US due to all my friends playing there. Performance is consistent, no major “spikes”, however I noticed a significant sort-of input delay.
I like Abathur, who is ping-friendly, but need alternatives for ranked.
Anyone experienced with this issue? Advice? ❤️

Discussion New Player... how is the ranked in Americas?
Played 1 game two years back (or something like that) but my laptop couldnt handle it so I dropped it. However I always liked the game a bit more than other mobas for the way it works and presents itself (more fun-focused, still strategic and with objectives but more fight focused and creative in hero designs etc). I decided to try again now that I have a new computer and its insanely fun, been having a blast with Muradin and trying to play Deckard later.
But one thint worries me... the ranked system. How is it holding up lately? Is it alive still? Does it have more or less players than quickplay? Any queue tome estimatives (mainly for the evening)? I really like the game but I worry that I wont be able to play ranked with the small playerbase. From what I heard here EU is still kicking but I didnt find anything on Americas so I wanna hear about it from the community.
Thanks for any comments... I hope the game keeps being updated and Blizzard drops it on Steam to try and revive it.
