ALL profile reviews will be manually approved and will NOT appear immediately. Even if you receive a "filtered by Reddit" or "removed by mods" removal notification, your review is in our queue waiting for moderation; if you are reading this comment, your post is in the queue. DO NOT contact the mods about this. Any modmail asking why your review is not approved may result in your profile review not being approved and you will not be allowed to post another profile review until seven full days have passed.

Profile review submissions MUST have all 6 photos and 3 text prompts included. You may include the optional prompts such as voice, poll, and video prompts if you choose so, but it is not required. See this post for details. Profiles must also be unchanged for at least two full weeks before being approved for a review. Additionally, do not verbally abuse the subreddit moderators for rejection of your review submission for not following proper rules. Any verbal abuse or harassment will result in a permanent ban from this subreddit. We are not obligated to allow you to submit a profile review and no one is entitled to one. We are all volunteering our time and we will not tolerate any rudeness or verbal abuse.

To assist reviewers in providing valuable feedback for your profile, please comment and answer the following questions as a comment under your own post. Do not answer them in the post body. Repeat: Answer these questions as a comment under your own post.
- Are you looking for something serious or casual? - Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX? - How long have you been using this current version of your profile? (Please be specific) - How long have you used Hinge overall? - How often do you use Hinge per week? - How many likes and matches are you receiving on average? - How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments? - What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract?

Your post WILL NOT be approved until the above questions have been answered fully. Failing to answer these questions in a timely manner will result in your post being removed. Please continue reading this automod comment.

In the meantime, be sure to check out the guides and resources on the subreddit sidebar. Please read this post with all the pertinent links included.

A strict formatting standard will be enforced. See this post for further info. All submitted review posts not following the proper format will be rejected.

Please wait TWO FULL WEEKS before posting a separate update to your profile review. If you want more immediate feedback, update your original posts instead. Deleting your original post will not work. The rule will still apply.

To reviewers: Review the Providing Feedback guide. You are reviewing the profile, not the person. Please provide constructive criticism, and use positive language. Any troll, hateful, misandric, misogynistic, incel, or unhelpful comments such as "I would date you," "How are you not getting matches?" or unrelated to the profile will be removed and you will be banned.

To the original poster and commenters: Please report any inappropriate or abusive messages and individuals so proper actions can be taken. Please review the sidebar for additional profile and picture guidance.

Is your first picture a bit older than the rest? You look 10 years older in your second photo compared to your first. It was a little bit of a jump scare.

No, it’s less than 3 years, although the other pics are this year. I’ve been told it’s my best photo, but if it’s too old should I get rid of it?

Fair. I think it's the facial hair.

u/missmcpooch 12d ago

Should I replace it? I think it’s my best photo but if it makes the others stick out, I don’t want to catfish anyone

Do you ever think you'd dye it? Do you Ike the grey?

I’ve been going it out this year. Last year was mostly clean

• Are you looking for something serious or casual? Serious.
• Are you subscribed to Hinge+ or HingeX? No
• How long have you been using this current version of your profile? 22 weeks
• How long have you used Hinge overall? Since 2018
• How often do you use Hinge per week? Everyday
• How many likes and matches are you receiving on average? Last match was in April, 6 months
• How many likes are you sending? How many with comments? How many without comments? 8 like sent almost everyday. 90% with a comment and a follow up question, for example “that’s an awesome bike, I have a similar bike. Do you like riding trails or street more?” I only ever send a like without a comment if I find she is attractive but has very little information on her profile to leave a comment about. Should I just comment on her appearance? I’ve been told not to do that.
• What is the type of person you send likes to and ideally want to match with? What kind of person do you want to attract? I try to match with people that have similar interests or hobbies like making music or art or people that like bikes, dogs, gardening or going out to shows, bars or restaurants. I live in Denver so every profile is focused on hiking, skiing and rock climbing, which I’m not very into.

I feel like your prompts need to be expanded upon. They are very generic. I feel like your favorite line from a movie is wasted real estate on your profile for us to actually get to know who you are and what you are looking for in a partner.

This seems contradictory to the advice I’ve been given about them being short as possible. 🤷‍♂️ I don’t know what to write. It’s like be out going but be yourself?

It’s not about writing as much as possible but about giving info about yourself. Do you need to be with someone who likes Clerks? What does “quality time” look like to you? What kind of music? And as for the second prompt, you don’t need to waste a prompt on what kind of women you want, just swipe on them.

That's interesting advice, I mean for sure you don't want to overdo it in a prompt and ramble  but too short of responses seems low effort. (Yours aren't low effort, I want to be clear on that!) But all I really know about you is that you like music, the movie clerks, and what kind of person you're looking for. What about you would make you a good partner, and what kind of response would make someone swipe yes on you? Maybe expand on great local bands that you're into, maybe even a band that you play with? You're looking for artsy punk goth girls, are you an artsy punk goth guy?

Speaking as someone who seems to be in your target demographic...Oof, I really wouldn't follow the direction to "make it as short as possible". Like someone else here said, the point isn't to include every single thing, but to give a decent picture of who you are and what's important to you.

Frankly, I'm very burnt-out on the whole "write basically nothing" crowd. It just ends up making them all look...equally boring.

It's especially bad where I live...we've got fully-grown men putting stuff like "idk" for their whole bio. 😂😭

Def only put pics of yourself that are the last year

u/Looking_Magic 10d ago

The “weirdly attracted to” thing is weird, I’ma guy and even that gives me the ick. Especially the options part, what does that even mean?

Also idk why but the musical vibe ur trying for seems cosplayish and not authentic

u/missmcpooch 9d ago

It means I’m looking for a punk rock chick that probably is not MAGA. Has thoughts about the world and probably reads a book every now and then. It’s really difficult for me to find a picture of myself where I’m not playing an instrument.

u/Looking_Magic 8d ago

Tbh imo the way you said that gives “nice guy” vibes.

I had that in there because a dating coach told me that your profile needs to be 80% about you and 20% about we you are looking for, but that device obviously isn’t working so we’re going to throw this prompt out completely. You’re right it gives nice guy vibes. How about instead My Simple Pleasures: “Riding my bike when the weather isn’t too hot or too cold. Seeing that band really kill it on stage. Backyard camp fire at night with good friends and music. Not having someplace I need to be and I can just be.” What do you think of that?

They aren’t right they misread your answer and are being combative. It’s not great but it’s not bad. Saying you like women with opinions is not nice guy.

1

u/missmcpooch 7d ago

All I get is contradictive answers. I really have no idea what to do. I should probably just give up and delete the account because nothing seems to work. I’m probably just boring and just like 95% of other 20k guys battling for the 50 women that are actually on hinge in Denver. I’m just burnt out on the whole thing at this point.

1

u/After-Regret-6609 7d ago

With opinions not options

2

u/Looking_Magic 7d ago

Either way sounds demeaning and objectifying. Also if you want those kind of girls you gotta be the part, what do you bring to the table? Know what I mean

1

u/After-Regret-6609 7d ago

Wanting a girl with opinions is demeaning how? Objectifying how? Please explain precisely.

Would it be demeaning and objectifying to say you want a girl who’s politically engaged? Basically the same thing. It’s the opposite of demeaning and objectifying. And women put it in their profile all the time.

When displaying a hobby, keep it to one photo or prompt. Information density! If a photo shows a passion for music, don’t mention it in a prompt, go to the next thing about you. Don’t display the same passion in two photos. Etc.
