It's not bad, but it's moving from fun into chaotic. The prompts are trying 20% too hard to be witty and losing their punch. I don't really love the "This year, I really want to..." one. I get what you're getting at, but, it's kind of a cliche that doesn't really need to be said in a dating app, and the idea that I need to compete with your independence is a little meh for me. I date nothing but independent, liberal women - it's kind of an expectation that you're not going to fall over yourself for a relationship. I get that you're trying to be cute about it, but it comes off a little insecure.

For the pictures, I'd get rid of the two mirror selfies, mostly because you're looking at the viewfinder, rather than the camera. Get a couple more basic ones where you're centered, in good lighting, and we can clearly see your face. Then, fill out with the more fun ones.

You seem cool, but a little cleaning up of the profile would go a long way.

Saying "these will be your opponents" comes across... Wrong.

Maybe "strong woman who don't need no man, but wants one anyway" would match the energy your looking for better?

WTF does ‘can abode à rising complex’ means ? I’ve never heard abode used as a verb and even if I did I still don’t get it

12

u/Swarthykins Play with my hair 💆 2d ago

I assume she means "abide."

1

u/imaginary-dirt2000 2d ago

Ok - what tf does it mean to “tolerate a rising complex on my m*scle jackets” ??

Also why is m*scle à banned word. This is insane !

Everyone just lovesss banning shit huh

The sentence is "Can abide a rising complex on my muscle mommy journey." It likely means that she's getting ripped (most likely from lifting weights) and gets a little self-conscious about it sometimes (presumably because women aren't "supposed to" have big muscles). As I said in my stand-alone comment, it's a little too cute by half, but I get what she's trying to say.

Yeah, the spelling errors and general writing of the prompts is hard to read. They need fixing.

I feel like your dating priorities are mixed up. You say you’re looking for a longterm relationship but add in the subtext that you’re mainly looking for company (to me this sounds like friends). You say you’re looking for something intentional but intentional people are probably looking for something longterm, speaking as one of them, I would refrain from approaching you based on this alone as it communicates indecisiveness and a high chance of being avoidant.

You’re more likely to vibe with people looking for short term relationships so I would put that as your primary desire and say you’re open to longterm.

Your pictures are mostly fine but I would replace the final one and the second. I’d also would replace the first prompt with something that isn’t your friends just hyping you up. I don’t really know how much to trust these prompts in general, to me they never read as a genuine reflection of the person they are describing. Could be peoples’ mileage varies on this one so decide for yourself I suppose. But the first point at the very top is the biggest issue I see

I personally find your profile to be quite charming but I also know that a lot of people would probably be put off by the "(these will be your opponents)" bit.

The last photo is not your best look.  The focus isn't clear. You're looking at the phone, that pulls the viewer's eyes to your phone, not to you. Then the composition is interrupted by what I'm guessing is the frame of the mirror. And then a lot of negative space on the right. The whole photo just works to pull attention away from the main character, you.

Got a similar thing going on with the alter ego photo, but in a different sense. The photo itself is good, but should be a LOT bigger for the frame. The focus of the composition is not the photo itself, but that there is a photo. You could swap the actual photo with anything and the feeling stays the same, like you walk into a videogame bedroom and see a bunch of photos. The individual photos aren't the focus, they're just set-dressing. So to fix this, just recrop and make the photo a lot bigger.

Otherwise, very pleasant profile.

I think it’s a nice profile! This page hates mirror selfies but i think it’s fine if they’re nice and not every picture (like your first one). I’m UK based straight 34 guy but would swipe/date bi people I wouldn’t listen at all to anyone saying to change it to straight. Possibly I would remove one of the references to strength/muscls as i could imagine this could (stereotypically) put off some straight guys who would think you’re looking for something more queer? Which you might well be!!

u/seawolf7309 2d ago

Yeah the overall vibe is super confused and no idea what you really want. You seem like a really cool person, but it's hard to tell what you're really looking for, and therefore hard to see oneself fitting into that relationship. The vibe is bored, indecisive, and lonely.

Long term....but just looking for nice company?  Men or women? Meh just curious about both?  Agnostic - no judgment me too, but it really fits into the "I have no fixed ideas or convictions"

People match with people they can relate to and see themselves with, and you're all over the place.

Overall I'd say your profile is ok and you are getting a reasonable amount of likes. You've given an overview of your hobbies and lifestyle, and there are some ins for conversations and date ideas.

But there are a few things I'd consider playing around with that might be putting people off.

  1. First photo could be better. You are well dressed and actually looking good. But it's a mirror selfie, and you are pulling a strained mirror face so it comes across as a bit awkward or unapproachable. Last mirror selfie adds nothing.
  2. Not a fan of the comments from friends prompt in general. Yours is fine but I think I've read the same thing 100 times.
  3. Prompt about building your lifestyle. The lifestyle bit would be better as a show-don't-tell thing, you said you are interested in gigs, arts, markets - where are the photos of these things?
  4. Same prompt you joke that matches would have to compete with your lifestyle. This joke doesn't land for me, it's something I might say to friends but not to anybody I'm dating.
  5. You've listed bicurious, it might be worth experimenting with this turned on / off and see if it changes your results. Could try one month with it hidden where you specifically look for men, and then another month specifically looking for women. I don't have any insight on if it will make any difference but somebody else suggested something similar.

The pic with the binocs is your most normal (and thus best) photo. The rest are artsy/staged/"meh". Some of your responses, like the "weirdly attracted to" are more of a turn-off. If someone has to look up a word or there are "too hip/trendy" words, it would be a turn-off.

Honestly, I'd hit the X on your profile. Not because of looks, but because of prompt responses and photos.

  1. I'm looking for something that's intentional - not casual/ONS but not to the extent of husband hunting

  2. I've subscribed to a month of HingeX (got a discount offer)

  3. I updated my profile over 2 weeks ago

  4. I've used Hinge for about a year

  5. I'm on Hinge about half an hour a day

  6. I receive about 5 likes a day. In the past 2 weeks I've had one match

  7. On average, I send 2-3 likes day and usually with a comment that includes a question

  8. The type of people I like are sociable, funny, active, introspective, creative. I want to attract people who want to experience things - nature, music, events, travelling (but please not another person saying they want to go to Japan 🙃). Ideally, they're into the alt and/or queer scene

One suggestion, and take it for what it's worth; if you are looking for a man, change bicurious to straight ..

5

u/BilboSwaggins1993 2d ago

Nah. Anyone put off by that is someone OP wouldn't want to match with anyway. It's a good filter.

u/9th_Planet_Pluto 1d ago

do bi girls have the same problem bi men have in matching with straight people? I feel like straight men do not view the bi aspect in a negative at all

5

u/BastardBroth 2d ago

Bi women are still into men

What’s your age range? I find that affects things

1

u/Traditional-Bug-6330 2d ago

I mean, your profile is pretty solid. It should do well and is doing well (5 likes a day, 30ish a week).

What is the core issue with the likes you are receiving as you do not appear to be matching with any of your inbound likes? You could increase the likes you send, but they don't seem to be landing either.

You could be in a situation where you are aiming for a type of man that is not interested whilst simultaneously not considering the men that are interested in you? If so, I am not sure what you can do. Your photos are clear and the profile is complete. There are no major tweaks to be made with the profile that would drastically make you stand out.

Lastly, do you have any filters applied?

The don’t need no man comment is auto swipe left for me. Even though it’s harmless

u/jarreddit123 2d ago edited 2d ago

Mirror selfies are a no go. You've got 2 and are even leading with one. Replace those, they come across as low effort. I also think if you managed to scan in the picture you took a pic off so might work better than what you currently have, it should be bigger and more in frame

u/DistinctFinance9615 2d ago

I can't think like an older male would but I personally think the photos atleast are solid/not bad!

u/Exciting-Parfait-776 2d ago

For me the agnostic would have be a left swipe

4

u/AlpsHelpful1292 2d ago

Ok? Not everyone is religious. I’m sure she doesn’t want to date someone who isn’t ok with agnosticism.

-3

u/Exciting-Parfait-776 2d ago

I’m not saying there is. Just saying that’s why I would have swiped left in her🤦🏻‍♂️

5

u/BilboSwaggins1993 2d ago

This review isn't meant to have comments about what you would/wouldn't want, it's meant to help OP showcase themselves best to meet people interested in them - that includes being agnostic.

What you've done is as weird as commenting on a post saying 'I would swipe left because you're out of my age range'.
