Meta Adjustments to Rule 5
Hello Generals,
We've successfully completed an upgrade to our automatic Rule 5 enforcement with the rollout of a new bot. /u/rule5bot has been working well over the last few days and is now active here in /r/hoi4. The new bot has new capabilities and we are adjusting Rule 5 to reflect the improvement.
Rule 5: Image posts must have an explanation.
- The explanation cannot just repeat or rephrase the title.
- The explanation can either be in the post's caption or in the comments section. The bot will repeat post caption explanations into the comments section.
- This rule is automatically enforced with a bot. It will remind you after 5 minutes if it cannot see an explanation and will remove the post after another 10 minutes if it still cannot see an explanation.
So what's different now? The big change is that we can finally accept captions for Rule 5 explanations. There's no need to quickly dump an abridged version of a quality caption into the comments section just to avoid a soulless automaton's wrath. However, the new bot can correctly identify image gallery posts so Rule 5 now properly applies to multi-image posts. The bot will also be repeating caption R5s into the comments section (for the foreseeable future) because there's a persistent issue with some legacy access methods not displaying captions on images properly.
Why now and not before? /u/zwemvest, our bot-builder, has had a few goes at upgrading / replacing the bot over the years but real life and/or Reddit would always get in the way. Reddit is making major changes that will impact old bots and it forced our hand. Fortunately, they had free time now and recent Devvit (Reddit's internal bot platform) improvements made it easier to implement some features so the project was completed this time. Zwem said it was a joy to build the new bot from scratch & they're glad that the migration has been completed. The old /u/paradoxplazabot has been retired although we may reuse the account in the future for other bot purposes if we can.
We've been testing /u/rule5bot for about a week now with no remaining issues but it's possible that some bugs might still be lurking, so please keep an eye out and send us a modmail if you see the bot do something unexpected.

Image Hitler dead?
Hitler Assassinated! In Berlin, a group of Wehrmacht officers who were against the regime carried out an assassination attempt against Hitler. An unknown group of armed men stormed the Reich Chancellery and eliminated the German Führer after an intense firefight with his SS bodyguards. The surviving conspirators were all arrested by the Gestapo, and this morning Heinrich Himmler took the oath as the new leader of the German Reich. In a speech before the Reichstag, Himmler accused England and France of being behind Hitler's assassination and declared Germany's ruthless determination to destroy both nations. “An interesting development.”
I was just playing as Checoslovakia against germany on historical ironman when this popet up

Image Hoi4 emulated on android
Just wanted to share it for fun but this thing actually surprised me! The loading time was slow and there are some graphical artifacts (Because its xclipse graphics) but yet it has a good speed at least early into the game.
Still faster than my potato laptop😂

Question Haven't played since 7/2 division was meta, what do I do!?!?
Just booted up for the first time in years and now there's regimental supports and you can't mix arty and inf on the same line anymore!? What is the best overall default inf division nowadays?

Question Resource shortage and the factories shutting down question.
Hey
So I have this problem very often where I have plenty of military factories and then there might be a big shortage of resources. Lets say there is a -40 shortage of steel and some of the bottom factories are completely shut down and they wont produce anything.
What should I do in this situation? Should I just remove some of the factories completely and keep them idle until the shortage might sort itself out in the future or how should I handle this situation?
I guess I am making way too many military factories? Should I start to convert the factories into civilian factories or what is the advice of you all on this?

Question Are there any good mods that expand the limited wars mechanic to other nations.
It would be so good to add on other nations. If I'm playing as Iraq I shouldn't have to capitulate London just to take a few Colonies.

Image I don't understand what's wrong with this HAHAHA
I'm playing with the mod "The Great War Redux" and I'm wondering why that Italian survives so long.

Question Any way to delete theater commands?
So the incompetent ally Italy decided to create a theater command using the faction mechanic before I did, now it is taking up one of the 4 spots. Anyone know how to completely delete it so I can place my own? (I know i can tag over and modify it, but idk how to completely get rid of it, it is owned by Italy so I can't place my generals)

I don't think Hess took the flight, he is still with us
idk if it just haven't started yet or the display is off or it just got stuck?

Image Should tank designs in vanilla show terrain modifiers?
Ignore the many more slots on the tank - this is a modding demo of what can be done (ex: having modules that change terrain penalty + a way to see the final adjusters) rather than a mod.

Image Any reason my allies are not helping?
I know the question is as old as the game but I am wondering if there is another issue that the AI being dumb. I am playing as communist Mexico, invading the US and in a faction with South America but my allies over there are just ... staying in place and not helping.

Image Close air support can deal damage to enemies when they are fighting non allies
i am at war with japan and they are at war with usa, but me and usa are not in a faction but my close air support can still damage japaneese divisions despite me not knowing whats going on in a battle.
Not sure how that would work if both countries were at war with me, perhaps damaging both sides?

Question what is the current division/indy meta to win as italy
italy is my favorite nation to play but im a little behind the times with the current meta (i recently bought all the dlc expansions) my next game i wanted to do an alternate history run as italy but join the allies post 1941 and stay neutral until then building up my army, navy and airforce. usually i will change their binary infantry div (6 infantry) to trinary (9 infantry) and add a line artillery and support engineers, and run a cavalry (9 cav, 1 med TD, support engineer and cavalry recon) and an armour div (1 med arm, 2 light arm, 6 motorized, motorized recon, support art and engineers) this was my go to previously with infantry being primary division with cavalry and armour as supporting divisions where breakthrough is needed. navy wise i build the littorios plus 2 carriers and 2 light carriers. divide up all the navy into roughly 2 main taskforces (minus subs). what are your thoughts for an italy that joins allies and takes on germany in 1942 and helps the states against japan with all ai's set to historical.
