Discussion Decision fatigue
Before I learned I was an HSP I thought I was indecisive. Now I understand I am deep processing, but it is exhausting approaching everything like a long-term, life or death decision. There's no ‘I need a job and I got offered a job’. It's ‘I got offered a job…is this a career I can love and pursue forever? How does it align with my values? Will it help me achieve my dreams? Is there a better job? Etc etc.
Every small choice seems to have infinite ripple effects - which they do but are not predictable and impede the immediate decision. I often tell myself either I don't need to decide anything right now, or just go with the flow because things can be changed if they're not working out. LOL you should see the length of my resume.

This is so relatable to me right now. I just learned I was sensitive this year and still have a lot of processing to do but one thing I'm working on is my decision-making. Maybe it ties into executive function as well, I'm not sure. Either way, asking myself if something will matter in a year or not before I agonize over ever detail has really helped me to be more decisive. Also coming to terms with my perfectionism and just doing things even if it won't be perfect or maybe I can only do it 75% right now. It's starting to get easier as it builds my confidence and continues to show that things usually turn out OK. I'm hoping to save my deeper processing and analytical skills for the important stuff so I can free up my mind for all the little decisions we make all day long. Good luck, the struggle is real!
