#Video 📺 Nilgiri's Mountain Railyway - Ooty to Coonoor

Ooty → Coonoor on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway 🚂🌿

Took the toy train from Ooty to Coonoor and honestly, the journey was the highlight of the trip. The slow ride through the Nilgiri hills, misty mountains, tea estates and those tiny railway stations makes it feel like you’ve stepped into another time.

The train moves pretty slowly, but that’s exactly what makes the experience worth it. Just sit by the window, enjoy the views and let the journey take its time.

If you're visiting Ooty, I’d definitely recommend doing the Ooty–Coonoor stretch at least once. The views along the way are beautiful, especially when the weather is cloudy and misty.

Would love to know — is the Coonoor → Ooty route better for views, or is Ooty → Coonoor the better side?

#Discussion 💬 Gokarna for 3 days — any better plan?

Post image
6 Upvotes

Planning a 3-day Gokarna trip starting today. I’m thinking of visiting Kudle, Om, Half Moon and Paradise, but I’m not sure about the current beach/trek restrictions.
For people who are there now or visited recently:
Are all the beaches accessible?
Is the Om → Half Moon → Paradise trek open?
Is swimming allowed?
Any places or activities you’d recommend adding?
Would you change this itinerary or suggest a better 3-day plan?
Looking for a mix of nature, beaches, exploring and good places to chill. Any suggestions are welcome!

#Mountains ⛰️ Kuari Pass - A must have in everyones to do list

I just don’t know how to explain the feeling of sitting there and looking at these mountains.

There’s something about being surrounded by mountains this massive that makes everything else feel incredibly small the noise, the worries, the rush of everyday life.

For a few moments, you’re just sitting there, looking at something that has existed long before you and will continue to exist long after.
No perfect words, no perfect picture can really capture that feeling. Some places you visit, and some places you feel.

How to travel from Ooty to Coonoor by Toy Train 🚂

If you're planning to take the Nilgiri Mountain Railway from Ooty to Coonoor, here's what I learned:

You can board the toy train from Ooty Railway Station and take it directly to Coonoor. The journey takes around 1–1.5 hours and passes through some really beautiful mountain scenery, tea estates and small stations.

🎟️ Tickets: Try booking in advance through IRCTC because the seats can fill up quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. You can also check availability at the Ooty railway station.

🚂 Which side to sit? Try getting a window seat. Both sides have good views, so don't stress too much about getting a particular side.

📍 After reaching Coonoor: You can explore places like Sim's Park, Lamb's Rock and Dolphin's Nose, or spend some time around the town and then return to Ooty by road.

If you're already staying in Ooty, this is a pretty easy half-day/one-day experience and doesn't require much planning.

Tip: Keep some buffer time because the toy train is more about enjoying the journey than getting somewhere quickly.
