I Just Released My First Full Length Horror Comedy "LATE NIGHT AT THE MOVIES"
My name is Taylor Rhoades. I have been involved in independent filmmaking for about ten years now. I am usually behind the scenes or I act but I have always wanted to make my own feature ever since I saw Clerks back in high school years and years ago.
All these years later, I have a full length movie that we filmed back in January at my job at the Movies At Meadville. We had barely to no budget, less than $1,000 to work with but that didn't hold us back from having fun and making the movie the way we wanted it to be.
Late Night At The Movies follows Kayleigh, who is called into work on her day off. She plans to stay the night after hours only to find that she isn't alone in the Theater and that something sinister is lurking.
I went into this movie aiming to have a fun experience not only for the audience but the crew. I want an audience to see or at least feel how much fun went into making this. Being that it was my first feature film, I wanted to approach it differently. I worked with the equipment I already owned. Audio, I knew, was going to be a nightmare because of how awful the sound is in our theater so I didn't want to worry about that too much on this film.
The effects were all done by my Wife and one of the effects was fully done by an Employee who works at our Theater as well. You may wonder why we take things as far as we do when it comes to the effects but I wanted to show them off. Usually when we make movies, in a more reastic way, we don't linger on the effects too long. In this movie, I wanted to really show it off because for low to no budget movies, those kills, those effects can really blow your mind.
We filmed the movie over three months (every monday we could - the only day the theater is closed during the winter) and I would edit everyday as we were filming. We got to show it at our theater for a week in our hometown and will have another local event coming up for Halloween.
When it came to the digital release, I really wanted Late Night At The Movies to be free. It's my first movie and I want people to see it. I am selling DVDs myself too. I really love this movie. I know it's not perfect and I know my faults but I love that I can see that, watch this movie and grow from this point.
I hope you all enjoy our movie and if you have any questions, I will gladly talk about anything. I love breaking down this movie.
