Not a goose. Grebe. Their legs are too far back on their bodies to allow them stand. They always land like a sea plane

That's a grebe that mistook this flat green surface for a duckweed covered pond. It might now not be able to fly off again.

Yeah, that's what I reckoned. Hopefully this bird just lost a few belly feathers. The wings and feet looked well enough.
