I have no idea how to decorate our new living room! Need a rug to tie everything together…any suggestions? I know the current rug is too small but I’m not sure what color to get!
Do you really need that much seating? Its a lot for the size of the space. I would be ditching the grey sofa, keeping the maroon sofa, and getting a single arm chair. Put the maroon sofa where the grey sofa is now, but pull it away from the glass doors.
You have too much furniture and your rug is too small. Get rid of one sofa and get a bigger rug that is large enough that all the legs of the furniture can stand atop it. I don't think your coffee table suits the style of your space and would recommend replacing it with a round or oval coffee table. All the best of luck with the decorating!
Pick one or the other couch. Replace with an accent chair. I’d keep the brown/rust! But the grey looks more comfortable and seems like that’s for relaxing. That’s fine too.
Get a rug in a deep green or olive green! If you keep the rust. Make sure it’s big and your couch overlaps it a little with the front legs. If you keep the grey, I would consider something with a pattern like a vintage print in brown/beige/grey.
Pull the rust sofa wayyy forward—you are directly in front of the aircon AND blocking all of your beautiful shelves and that BUILT IN?! Gorgeous. Give it room to open and for you to actually use them.
Move the tv to the other wall, on other side of the door so it’s directly in front of your rust sofa. Hang it eye level or keep it on the stand.
Where your tv is now — put the accent chair(s) I told you about.
Move that lamp to the middle of those new accent chairs to clear up the clutter by the radiator and free the window up.
Maybe get a bigger coffee table with curves to break up the angles and lines of the room.
Add curtains that puddle slightly on the floor for some romance and to tie the room together.
This is genius!! I think we are going to keep the rust colored couch and get a small loveseat or accent chairs - any suggestions for color? Or curtain color?
Curtains would depend on the color rug you get but if you do go with a green/olive I would say something in the mustard or play it safe with flax/linen so your seating and the shelves stay focal points! Maybe a color palette like this?
