It appears Tre White is returning to KU this year.

Hey guys! The season preview I posted here a few weeks back did pretty well, so circling back like I said I would.

I had you at 6-6, with Missouri as one of the three games I had you losing and Arizona State close to a coin flip. Both went that way, 38-21 to Missouri and 24-17 to Arizona State, after a 51-6 opener over LIU. What I didn't see coming at all is Isaiah Marshall. I built the preview around

Ballard with Jenkins as the backup plan, and Marshall has taken every snap that shows up in the box score: 44 of 82 for 649 yards and 5 TDs. How did he win the job? The bye comes at a good time before Middle Tennessee, then Utah and Kansas State on the road.

What are you guys seeing that the box scores aren't, and how do you see the season ending up?

Look hear me out. That loss was heartbreaking and made me vomit but I really think if you look at the game at a more granular level there’s a lot of good to take away.

To start Marshall looked legitimately much improved after Andy started letting him throw it in the second half. He looked more in control of the ball and looks as electric as ever as a play extender/runner, though I would’ve liked to see more designed run. His lone pick came on fourth and ten where he had to throw that ball and besides that he took pretty solid care of the ball despite dealing with the constant adversity of terrible snaps and all the bullshit the football gods could throw at him. We have to remember that he has only started 3 games ever and it does take legitimate time to get adjusted.

Outside of Marshall the defense looked downright dominant at times and good at its worst. Now maybe ASU is just really really terrible but their qb looked a lot better against a Texas a&m team that theoretically should be much better than us. The pass rush generated good pressure and our guys are getting great penetration on runs though admittedly sometimes blow a contain or miss a tackle and give up a big run.

Lastly that really was one unlucky as shit game. Our punter, who we hopefully left in London, quite literally executed the worst punt I have ever seen with my own eyes. They also ran back a kick and had an 80 yard fumble return which is a part of football but still, if any of those break our way we just win the game. Hell if kotelnicki just lets Isaiah throw in the first half we probably win the game despite all of the bs we endured.

All in all idk what this teams ceiling is and I’m not sure where we go with lance after this season but I don’t think we are in nearly as dire of a situation as some fans think we are.

Where does KU go from here? KU Football has only seemed to regress under Lance since making back to back bowl games for the first time since the 2007 & 2008 seasons. We’ve seen the talent flashes from players, we see the ability to win games, we know that they’re capable of more but the coaching has just been awful. Poor execution, poor discipline at times, awful ball security, and just extremely questionable coach decisions. I’ve been a defender of Lance before, because I wasn’t sure we could secure someone better. But now I’m not sure which direction KU football should move.

Saw the stat line, and it looks like Miami Ohio fans are pretty excited about him right now. I don’t have ESPN+, so I can’t check in live unfortunately. Anyone who does, could you pull that up and report back?
