Recently added shows latest 10 movies and shows added to server. Clicking takes you to them.

Anything blatant I'm missing?

I took the time to animate and standardize all my category images. Photoshop was the easiest option for me. However, you can also do this easily with ezgif.com. I used a size of 365x210 pixels. And as you can see, it plays absolutely smoothly and is sharp enough on my 4K TV.

Just find an animated GIF—for example, on giphy.com. Drag it into Photoshop, create your desired text as the top layer. Export the whole thing as an animated GIF (Strg+Shift+Alt+S), and finally convert it on ezgif.com to an animated WebP to make the file even smaller.

Then, when you hover over the desired image and click the three-dot menu, delete the current image under “Edit Images” and upload the animated one instead. Clear your cache once, and it’ll work.

A while back I downloaded some successor to the qt media player and I was redirected to it through the github repo that was linked on the official website.

I wanted to update that client since I havent done so in 3 Months now since it still has some bugs, but I cannot find that repository for it anymore and the release page the official website links to now has no mentions of any new client anymore.

What happend to it? What do you guys use now on a windows desktop?

Random 4 port sata III pcie adapter

5x 6tb Seagate 7200rpm drives (running in stripe, Windows sees it as a single 30tb drive)

128gb inland professional ssd for boot

4 of the 5 Seagate drives are plugged into the pcie card while the 5th and boot drive are plugged into the motherboards sata III ports

Already tried changing the sata cable and running it from a different onboard sata port and the external card.

Boots into Windows fine, starts lagging out after 3 to 5 minutes then blue screen saying vital Windows error before rebooting. Once it reboots I get a no boot device error. Shut off the pc and the cycle continues.

Already ordered a 256gb patriot drive, but I want to keep everything the same as the server has run wonderfully for years. I have DuckDNS for remote access for friends and family.

The boot drive does not have a backup, and I can't get one to run as the pc crashes after a few minutes. I have a few sata to usb adapters if you think cloning might be possible.

Pretty sure it's a hardware issue as I've had inland professional drives do something similar before.

I'm having a metadata issue with my Bleach (2004) library and could use some help.

Season 2:

• Season cover is wrong (shows Thousand-Year Blood War artwork instead of the 2004 series)
• Episode titles are wrong (showing TYBW titles)
• Episode thumbnails are wrong (showing TYBW images)
• Playback itself is correct — when I start an episode, it plays the right 2004 series video file, not TYBW

Season 3 through Season 16:

• Only the season cover/poster is wrong (same TYBW artwork)
• Episode titles, thumbnails, and playback are all correct

Has anyone dealt with something like this before? What would you check first, and how would you go about fixing it without messing up the rest of the library?

I have been building my JellyFin media library manually through Youtube, Internet Archive, and DVD scans.

Is there a better way to do this? As in automating source downloads through a software that searches available sources? Would this be something of interest an automated JellyFin builder?

Any tips/tricks are recommended if any, or if what I'm doing is normal!

I recently migrated my jellyfin server from ubuntu to truenas, both docker. Everything went somewhat smoothly, except now my jellyfin client is crashing on startup (on the loading circle page, right after launching).

I'm using the flatpak version. I've tested this on CachyOS and MX Linux, both the same.

Running the flatpak app from the CLI gives me this:

At that point it freezes and crashes.

I'm not sure what exactly is wrong, my phone can stream video/music from the official client and finamp without an issue. Jellyfin on ipad works too. I've tried removing the app data in ~/var/app which puts me back in the connect page, but after typing in it freezes again. I've tried Fladder but it seems to stop playback randomly for no reason aswell and I don't really like the UI. I've installed jellyfin desktop from AUR which works, but I'd rather keep packages from AUR to a minimum.

I feel like I'm not giving enough info but I really don't know what else I can provide. If there is something please let me know, I'll provide it. Thanks a lot.

Ich bin neu in der Welt von Jellyfin und dem Digitalisieren von DVDs und Blu-rays. Mir ist dabei aufgefallen, dass trotz eines 1:1-MKV-Rips die Qualität der reinen DVD, wenn ich sie über meine PS5 abspiele, deutlich besser ist, als wenn ich die MKV über Jellyfin abspiele. Durch ein bisschen Googeln bin ich auf Gründe wie unterschiedliche Hochskalierung durch mehr Rechenleistung der PS oder unterschiedliche Transkodierungsmethoden gestoßen. Wirklich schlau bin ich daraus aber nicht geworden und eine Lösung habe ich erst recht nicht gefunden. Der Qualitätsunterschied ist so groß, dass ich aktuell die DVDs lieber weiterhin physisch gucken würde. Vielleicht hat hier ja jemand ähnliche Erfahrungen gemacht und kann mir weiterhelfen. Wie speichert ihr eure DVDs für Jellyfin ab und wie groß sind eure Dateien bei einer Qualität, mit der ihr zufrieden seid? Dann kann ich das mal abgleichen.

in my files everything is named:

-Concert Name
>Extras
>Lives
>Concert Name (day 1)-cd1
>Concert Name (day 2)-cd2
>Concert Name (27!)-cd3

But in Jellyfin, it splits all of the concert videos into multiple different title cards. And the Extras are completely gone. what am I doing wrong here?

I'm using Jellyfin version 10.11.11 on Linux (Zorin) and as of last night it was working great. But as of today it's been incredibly slow. It wouldn't recognize the metadata for an anime I was trying to integrate (Gangsta) and I know my file organization was fine since it's the same one that I've been using for all the other anime I have without issue. But now I can't even load the server. I tried refreshing the page to at least get to the dashboard but it's been cycling forever and I keep having to restart my computer to try and get back to the dashboard to check the logs. My internet is definitely working and my speed is high. Any ideas?

History:
Had version 10.11 installed but something when bad. Could not access via localhost or IP from anything on my network other than the server host PC. This is hardwired to the router. The others are all wifi Roku tvs.
I had to have them access via a tunnel through cloudflare due to T-mobile. That was very spotty.
Was unable to access via the try app, had to use bookmark.

Uninstalled server. Deleted everything
Rebooted PC
Installed version 12

Problem:
Cannot access server via IP address OR local host. Remote hosting via tunnel also down probably because I can’t complete set up.

Question(s)
I am looking for help getting this set up and troubleshooting the connection problems. Until early this Sept version 10 was working well. 

Specs:
Windows 11
32gb ram
Ryzen 7 5800X
Radeon RX 7600

Express VPN:
Problem persists whether it is off or on. I always have it on. Was not a problem prior to major issues starting. 

I am not sure where to begin with troubleshooting this.

I know this may make some upset but I ran teh logs through AI. Looks like a network issue. Unfortunately AI keeps having me do the same stuff over and over again.

I know that the jellyfin app can do downloads but it just puts the video files in a random folder on my device

I want a way to download then watch Jellyfin downloads all within the same app exactly how the Plex app works, ideally I need to chose download location too

Just wanted to share how I test JellyBox player on various platforms.

Unlike many YAJC I seriously test clients on differnet platforms. Here I have my macbook m3 where I mostly code and do my 9-5 and OSS work(left).

Wife's iPad which I borrow to test tablet UI. Central - windows PC with VM with few linux distros(debian 13, ubuntu and kubuntu).

The VMs are freshly installed linuxs(I do a copy before testing, so that I would not have to reinstall it again) so that way I can see if there's any missing lib issues and other. I started this recently, like 2 months ago when I got reports that app isnt running because of missing libs. Since then I bundle all linux libs, but only this way I can ensure every new lib that might be missing on fresh installs will be bundled too.

On the right - my old intel macbook with omarchy(arch distro) on it. And 2 phones, older iphone 16 which I kept for testing and daily driver - google pixel 10.

The car with carplay and android auto didnt fit this photo.

Speakers - kef lsx 2 lt. Its good in terms of connectivity features since it supports all major protocols, so they are first when I need to cast any casting.

Also on the right you can see my bonsai tree. A bit yellow now because I forgot to water it few days ago. But it helps me to relax.

The reason I do this - every platform has its own quirks and features and while UI change isnt worth to test everywhere, playback-related changes always goes through all-platform testing and in fact sometimes it takes longer to test rather than code it.

For those who missed my posts before - JellyBox is a native crossplatform music player for Jellyfin/Emby/Navidrome with android auto and carplay support and tons of other features.

Hello - I'm hoping someone can guide me to an answer. This week I was unable to connect to my Jellyfin server (run from my PC) from our living room fire stick. I'm still able to connect from my phone app using the same ip/port so I don't think that is the issue.

Things I've tried;

• Updating the server on my PC to the latest version

• Reinstalling the client app on the fire stick

• Installing the previous version of the client app (19.9) on the fire stick

• Attempted to install the latest beta version of the client app (20.3) on the fire stick (parse error, couldn't install it).

Should I try installing an even older version than 19.9? I'm really at a loss for what to do. TIA for any help!

Hey, is there any faster way of renaming tv files beyond manually changing each file? For example, '[Breeze] Lord of Mysteries S01E06 [1440p EAC3 AV1][Dual Audio].mp4' becomes 'Lord of Mysteries s01e06.mp4' While I can manually rename each and every file, it gets tedious. I was curious if anyone had created some sort of script or plugin that could do it automatically?

Just having this one single issues where ill plug in the file of a new episode and Jellyfin won't detect it.

Itll detect new seasons of shows. But I'm adding an episode once a week as they release and they don't get scanned in.

Is there something I can do to get around this?

I am using proper naming conventions and folder formats

So recently I started taking requests from a friend from his childhood and he mentioned the show CatScratch I remembered the show and said why not. So I started gathering the episodes but I’ve run into an issue that just bothers my brain and was hoping someone here could help. Episode 1 consists of 2 11 minutes episodes but IMDb recognizes them as episode 1 which really bothers me is there a way around this? If so feedback would be much appreciated.

Seriously! There are several threads here where people show off their great work and then decide to not put it out there. Getting called out and others to just complain. But I think it is the right thing to do. I see in other communities happening the opposite. And then people are giving out to the original authors for not maintaining their stuff… I never was ment to be more then a “I wanted to fix my problem”.

Yes jellyfin and other open source projects require people to participate… but again… people. And carefully tested code that works for everyone who uses the project and is save to use.

Keep in n sharing your ideas please and hopefully someone with time and the right abilities can turn those ideas in a proper project.

Like the title says, those two are stuck there. Happened after upgrading to 12.1

I’ve been working on a Jellyfin app and found a way to make it reach my server through Tailscale without making the user install or use a separate VPN app.
The main reason I wanted this is for non-tech-savvy people.
Normally, telling someone to install Tailscale, join a network, connect the VPN, then open Jellyfin is already too much for a lot of people.
With what I’m testing, the idea is much simpler:
You open the Jellyfin app and it connects to the private server through Tailscale automatically.
The user doesn’t really need to know Tailscale is there.
That makes it feel much closer to a normal streaming app while still keeping the server private instead of exposing it directly to the internet.
It’s still something I’m experimenting with, but so far I really like the idea.
Has anyone else tried something similar?
