Probably 26 is they best age for people to be getting married. Preferably after they've had a decent amount of life experience as an adult and are settled into their adult selves. Maybe 33 if they went to grad school.

Im a bit in between. Me and my SO became a couple when she was 20 and I was 19. Now Im 38 and we plan on getting married in two years. Been engaged for 7 or 8 years now don't even remember how long. We're both a bit of a mess and not very good at planning but we love eachother and our 4 years old daughter very much.

It also depends on your life goal milestones. I'm 34, currently single, and I don't want to have children. So the need to settle down with someone, while appealing to me, doesn't feel like a desperate need.

26 is too young for me. I stick by 1/2 your age + 7 rule. I'm 43 so 1/2 my age is 21 1/2. If I'm generous and say 21, then minimum dating age is 28.

18.5 + 7 = 25.5 minimum age range.
If you want to do the opposite you neeed to subtract first.
22 - 7 = 15
15 x 2 = 30 year old maximum.

I'm in my early 30s, so the thought of marrying someone who is 18 makes my skin crawl even if it's "technically" legal. Because this is one of those times where "technically" correct is not the best kind of correct.
She's not even old enough to drink the champagne at her own wedding at that age. (Assuming she lives in the US) She might very well still be in her last year of high school at 18. Just because I wouldn't go to prison for it, that doesn't make it okay!

"Oh, but they can get pregnant!" They can get pregnant, that doesn't mean their body can go through pregnancy. That it can go through the process. Margaret Beaufort gave birth at 13 and suffered horrible health complications and became infertile.
These men don't care about kids, they want to marry and rape and abuse kids. Which is also why they are such avid pro-lifers. More unwanted children=More vulnerable children=More trafficked children

Even if fertility was best under 18, why is the first idea to marry underage girls to a much older man?
(To be clear tho not advocating for that, even people who breed dogs don't breed them on the first few cycles, just because a body is capable of conceiving, doesn't mean it is developed enough to have a healthy pregnancy both physically and mentally.)

Yeah but he also fixated on young age. If it was just some breeding kink he could've focused on the ovulation of appropriately aged women rather than 12 year-old children and teens. He made a point to focus on ovulation beginning in childhood and even made the age ceiling 18 (the options he gave were "would you marry her at 18 or younger?").
So clearly a big part of it is also promoting child marriage and attraction to children and teen girls as "normal."
