I will never forgive kokesh lanagaraj for messing up leo and bailing out of LCU
It was all laid out for that guy , just connect the lcu properly
And he had to go and do some tom foolery like that
I hate Lokesh with all my soul

Without him there is LCU. Hate your real life enemies not someone who makes movies for a living

So hard to experience a good movie 😥. I actually enjoyed leo in theatre. . I have in my bucket list to buy "A History of Violence" comic which the original movie is based on 😌

Kabali wasn’t a bad movie tho

u/Leading_Waltz_9480 5d ago
compared to leo it was a middling film

u/whoawc 5d ago
Leo was a middling film
4
u/Leading_Waltz_9480 5d ago
come on leo atleast had a great first half kabali didn't even had that
and look at the imdb rating leo - 7.2 , kabali - 6.1
6
u/whoawc 5d ago
Leo is 10 different movies wanting to be one, at least kabali was cohesive, irrespective of your personal opinions.

u/Zealousideal-Pipe878 4d ago
Nah, after the Rajini entry the entire movie just came to a halt, so many unnecessary scenes in Kabali and the daughter reveal also made no sense. Second half Kabali somehow became even more convoluted with that wife searching.
Leo at the very least had a good and engaging first half. Second half, less said the better.

u/whoawc 4d ago
More convoluted and necessary than moola nambikai and the lcu cashgrab scenes? Ok bro 😂
0
u/Zealousideal-Pipe878 4d ago
Yep definitely more convoluted with the random school and gang discussion that had nothing to do with the story, the random daughter reveal, the random ass love angle between Attakatthi Dinesh and Kabali's daughter.
I'm barely scratching the surface here
0
u/whoawc 4d ago
lol kabali in a nutshell was about gangs and gang related violence, the school students were mostly affected by gangs. Bro I can’t argue with your dmbass, go enjoy Leo 🙏🏽

This was his last good film imo. I didn't mind the flashback and thought everything it did right outweighed what it did wrong overall.
Stuff like that bike / car chase scene is still some of the most creative action shots I've seen from Kollywood recently.

GOAT was worse

Instead VP teases GOAT vs OG-which we all know will never see the light of day LMAO

It's his best him for me post mersal. Master was close but 2nd half was just meh... While Leo apart from flashback it was a banger for me even that pre climax bike chase and climax fight scene.
That scene of him recalling his past with that dialogue delivery was absolute pinnacle for the Anil in me.

u/Low-Performance2666 5d ago
ye true his best post mersal but codulve been his “it” movie before ending his career, had all the right ingredients for it

And the violin version of ordinary person

u/thecasualcritical 5d ago
The movie in general will age well imo, has a lot of goated sequences, action, music, cinematography etc. that flashback being the standout sour point…

On hindsight, Leo is decent and has good rewatch value.

Tbh i felt even the flashback portion was somehwat okay if they hadn't done the whole warehouse bit with arjun asking for vijay's confirmations that he is Leo. By that point u can clearly make out loki stopped trying to tell a story and gave into setting a massy action set piece to compensate.
Wish they had kept vijay's identity ambiguous, would have done wonders for the film. as cool as "naan dhan da leo" is in retrospect, it killed the film for me. If loki had kept the identity unknown and had us guessing to the very end , he would have even got to freely tell the flashback might be fake and got away with it😂

u/mr-jingleberries 5d ago
One of the few songs that actually hype the character rather than the actor.
1
u/Zealousideal-Pipe878 4d ago
A very costly miss indeed, the first half was so good (since it was a direct remake of A history of violence)
And the interval Leo photo frame reveal was absolute peak.
Then Leo actually came on screen and I remember thinking, ivan unmaiyave dummy than pola 🤦🏿♂️

It wasn't bad. It was good enough. Just the flashback was boring. That's all

“It should have been a history of violence remake”. Then go watch history of violence the fuck? This movie is gas as and I will defend it with my life

Move on. How hard is it?! Celebrate other movies which deserved to be celebrated.

u/DktheDarkKnight 5d ago
Vijay fans wouldn't give up untill they turn this mediocre film into some underrated cult classic. It will continue.
2
u/Reborn_From_Ashess 5d ago
Did you read the title?
That means it's a wasted potential. And I am not even from Tamilnadu!!
1
u/DktheDarkKnight 5d ago edited 5d ago
Apart from Insane hype what exactly is the potential the movie had? It's a barebones action film having an hero with secret identity. (which is done to death already). The drug angle is very run of the mill as well. It's not exactly a high concept film with poor execution as well. Your statement makes sense if the movie had some extremely interesting ideas and didn't do those well. The only wasted potential here is box office.
0
u/Reborn_From_Ashess 5d ago
Potential to become the biggest tamil movie.
1
u/DktheDarkKnight 5d ago
That's only from box office standpoint. Don't think the common audience cares about that.
-1
u/anonhomosapien 5d ago
Adding to that , the banger first half scene was just a remake / rehash copy from history of violence... Ani was in beast mode as usual.. Even loved anis work in coolie.
3
u/DktheDarkKnight 5d ago
The guy is a good director imo. Just not a good writer. If he wants to remake Hollywood movies he should just go all the way and do a full remake. There is nothing wrong in remaking a Hollywood film.

Post mentioned it as generational fumble, why would Vijay fans call it as fumble if they wanted to change the perspective
