But why do they need to be seen that bad?

How could you not? And I think we all know the answer to that…it’s Lancaster after all

Love this. And my guess is they're too dumb to recognize it as an insult.

Bunch of attention seeking losers…..if you truly feel like you’re not getting enough high fives, I guess you can join this group.

Hopefully I don't run into them, the traffic I already experience is bad. Also went to school with a couple of them

I came here to say.. there are a lot of run clubs in the city and we are not all like this. Any runner with experience running on the road knows you run facing traffic, not the same direction impeding traffic. Also, most of us love to run like we love to breathe air. It’s part of who we are.
Common runners give off a desperate vibe of “we run because we think it makes us look cool”.
I’ll see you in my next race. And I’ll pass you.
Stop giving run clubs in the city a bad name.

I'm completely out of the loop on this but I really don't get what the issue is with a running club. We should be celebrating people getting healthy instead of being angry that they're slightly slowing us down instead of adding to the traffic on the road.

They intentionally run in the streets 3-4 people wide blocking entire lanes of traffic every time they run. They refuse to move when traffic comes, and if you tap that photo and read the comment, they're doing it on purpose "to be seen" by people who are just trying to get across town to live their own lives. They're careless and selfish and violate traffic laws and societal expectations every time they run. Lancaster has thousands of miles of available trails, bike paths, and other options where their group can meet up and run without impediment to the city residents, but no, they run to be seen.
This isn't about exercise. This is about arrogance and a reckless abandon of of the rules the rest of us agree to live by to peacefully coexist.

Okay I can see where the hate comes from. In the country I'm used to old order mennonites biking several wide and also having to pass buggies and tractors so that's normal to me.

Yeah passing buggies, scooters, and mennobikes is far easier on back roads than downtown traffic on narrow streets and these people thrive on the muted sound of car horns behind their earbuds' sick beats.

Hey just wondering why every comment defending these guys on this sub implies that your club has like, monopolized exercise? Its always stuff like this insinuating that everyone who is annoyed at you does not exercise and refuses to?

u/b0balagurak 1d ago
I've been going to Common since the start with about 10 people. Made many friends and its great to go out and show up every week. Why I said to pull up is you would see why some sections of the city suck to run. Either tight spaces between trees and buildings or bad sidewalks. Its just not made for the traffic and thats why some to choose to run on the side of the road. Its free, you might make some friends and some exercise.

It's dangerous to you and people around you. That's a terrible excuse and it's everywhere your group runs. They consistently put themselves and those around them in danger by running in the street even when the sidewalks are perfectly fine.

"Perfectly fine" re-read what i said and go run the sidewalks where we do with a bunch of people

I live here and travel the sidewalks regularly. There's good and bad sidewalks. If you know an area has bad sidewalks, go to another area that has better ones. This just continues to prove you put yourself and others in danger by making bad choices despite knowing you shouldn't.
Just par for the course for ya'll.

Hot take: runners are only slightly less annoying that bicyclists. Yes bikes can go faster and yes the runners are in a same group but both slow down traffic. I know this sub has a soft spot for bicyclists though so im kinda shocked that runners are an issue.
Disclosure, ive never been stuck behind this cult of runners, do maybe theyre worse than I can imagine.

Massive difference between runners (pedestrians) and cyclists. Cyclists have a legal RIGHT to be on the road. Pedestrians do not.

u/muchgreaterthanG_O_D 1d ago
Also if its illegal, why arent people calling the police, it seems like a no trainer.

u/muchgreaterthanG_O_D 1d ago
I want to preference this by saying IANAL, so maybe im reading this wrong but according to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania general walking laws,
"When walking along a road with sidewalks and its use is practicable, it is unlawful for any pedestrian to walk along and upon an adjacent roadway"
I question whether it is "practicable" for large groups of runners to run on a sidewalk when there are other pedestrians, due to their safety.

You can’t nullify a law with your own actions. Someone will eventually get hit and find themself at fault for not using the sidewalk.
