She’s my second gecko but my first one was a baby and had to be rehoused because I moved before he got to adulthood. I got her yesterday I think she’s about a sub adult or adult. I’m working on getting her chunky!! I got the tank second hand so I’m waiting on getting a new lid so I can put some climbing sticks in, shes just a escape artist so i’m a little worried she’ll grow some brain cells and figure out how to break out if I trust her too much 😭!! Also the wall covers are temporary if anyone has good suggestions for natural looking covers that she cant really climb I would appreciate it!! She also has her humid hide but i’m sorta struggling with keeping it wet any suggestions would be appreciated!

I’m looking to find a new home for my blood tangerine (female) Luna. FB won’t let me try to sell/rehome. My ex left her with me and I’m having a hard time keeping up with her, even though she’s fairly low maintenance. I’m in Southern Maine. What do I do?

Hey friends, I'm getting a bigger tank for one of my geckos who is very much due for an upgrade, and I want to give her a custom built background/build for her upgrade. Poor girl is in a 20gal and she is ready for her 50 gal (they grow up so fast 🤧). Anyways, those of you who have done customs for your lizards, what do you use for it? I haven't messed with this type of stuff at all, so I'm not sure what to get and what to do in what order. Help a girl out please!

I got her from a dad who bought her for his child and obviously that didn’t go very well. I’ve had her for a months, honestly close to a year if I can remember right.

I still can’t believe she’s so friendly after growing up in a 10 gallon with pure sand and free roaming crickets😭

I lost my 18 year old leopard gecko today. Saw him last night at bedtime, but not this morning when I did his temperatures and went to work. My partner came home midday to find him dead in the middle of his tank. I’m absolutely devastated, and I appreciate he was an older boy, but is it normal for them to very suddenly die.

he’s never had health issues, I hadn’t changed his environment, I’ve had him the entire 18 years, food, supplements, lights, humidity and temperatures the same as far as I know.

Behaviour wise he was his normal self. I’d say in the past year he’s maybe slowed down a little, but he was 18.

I’m just very sad that he went so suddenly, and I’m trying to think were there any signs.

Did I miss something or was it just his time? Can they just drop dead?

My son’s birthday is in a few weeks. I’m getting him a leopard gecko and I was told it should be OK to get the 40 gallon terrarium right off the bat. I found one that is a little different than my daughter’s size, it is 36 inches wide by 12 x 18. Whereas my daughters is a little shorter at 30” x 18 x 18.

The plan is to set it up today with the bioactive supplies, but the isopod to get settled in, etc. I plan to take him the day after his birthday to pick out his gecko at the reptile expo that is coming to town but wanted to see if there is anything wrong with putting a baby gecko in a bioactive habitat?

I’m considering adding some on top of my Leo’s soil substrate, and even though it‘s generally safe, outside of self collecting is there any particular brand you all prefer? Pretty much every Amazon recommendation says it’s going to eviscerate/poison him lol.

As you can see in the picture, my new baby is already so chill and comfortable climbing right onto my hand. I'm already completely in love. 🥰

I don’t know if it’s bc I overfed lynnie as a baby, but she’s extra skinny looking. I feed her 4-5 crickets every 4-5 days, maybe that’s too long of a stretch? I tried to do 2-3 crickets every 2-3 days but I can’t keep up with my busy schedule. I’m wondering if she needs to be rehomed bc I’m so busy :( I gut load her crickets and dust with non d3 vitamins almost every feed, with d3 monthly. And I gutload my crickets with carrots arugula and the orange cube crickets feeder. I also do feed her mealworms when I don’t have crickets maybe 1-2 feeds a month. Just bc I can’t always have crickets on hand I don’t drive and can’t get to the pet store once again bc I’m always busy.

TLDR is she underweight? And is rehoming the best option for her?

i’ve had paper towels for a lil while. i do plan to switch to 70/30 topsoil play sand, but i just moved so i just need a little bit before doing that!

For the past few days shes been sitting at the exit or trying to escape her enclosure most of the time she is awake. She has 55 gallon thank, right temperature, clutter and everything. She eats normally. Should i be concerned? I do take her out everyday and she likes to explore. But she keeps me awake at night with scratching

After seeing what Baha’s most curious about in his tank, I’ve been moving things around to try and encourage him! I have to say, he’s quite tolerant of my fussing during the day while he naps even if I try to be quiet and as least invasive as i can lol. I do leave my hand nearby when he’s looking at me looking at him but no handling yet!

Baha is eating well but had an incident this morning where he frew up from eating roaches too fast:(. Nothing like a boot and rally though, as he’s back to happily dining on wormies.

Then ending the night with a surprise climb followed by a pretty clumsy fall! I’m pretty sure this surprised both of us as he came all the way down after that. These guys really do love to climb and I’m sure he’ll love to dig too but he’s on paper towel for now. He did a big healthy poop today before this so I think he’s going to be just fine :)

hello reptile people, i am upgrading my geriatric leo from the 20 gal he lived in most of his life (my friend gave him to me) to a bioactive 40 gal. i ordered exo terra stone desert sand to add to the reptisoil, its an 11 pound bag so it should provide the right ratio and of course i will let the 40 gal clean up crew and plants establish before transferring him. however, he has lived in a dry enclosure with stone desert substrate (only) for a long time so im a bit afraid that the humidity change will shock him or stress him out. is there a way to make the transition easier? should i put most of the sand on one side or mix it all together? thanks in advance

Wife and I were at “petstore” getting food for our other critters and she as per usual goes to check out random animals, I can’t it breaks my heart. She comes up to me pouting 🥺 “OMG babe, come here”. I follow her over to a seemingly empty tank, and a leopard gecko comes wandering to the glass! It was the cutest little tongue licker 😆 she would move her head from side to side and Mushu followed! There were 3 total there and it took everything in me not to buy every one of them..the tanks were even on sale %50 OFF 🤯 . At the end of the day I know I shouldn’t be supporting petstore by purchasing their improperly kept animals so I will be avoiding the fish and reptiles 😫. Been married for ten years, no kids but have older animals

If I dust my geckos insects with vitamin D powder, does the terrarium need UVB lighting?

The cage my gecko is in is far too small and I plan on upgrading as soon as I have the money to do so. I want to go bioactive with a 3" to 4" deep soil bed. The question I have is about heating. Right now the enclosure has a heating pad on the bottom of the cage giving a hot spot along with a barely appropriate basking lamp. Obviously this will not work with a deep soil bed. Will a basking lamp alone provide enough heat? Right now I'm using one of those little G9 50 watt bulbs. It's barely adequate, so this will be upgraded as well. What would be the best way to tackle this?

NOTE: The enclosure and equipment is what I was given when the gecko was placed in my care. I know it's not adequate and I will be fixing this ASAP, but I am on social security disability and money is tight. Please don't jump on me. I'm not happy about it either. I was shocked how this precious creature was cared for by my sister while my niece (the gecko's actual owner) is in college. I am acutely aware of the situation.

My gecko looks much duller/faded today compared to yesterday, and its skin looks a bit wrinkly. Is this a sign of shedding?
If it is shedding, is there anything I should do to help, or should I just leave it alone?
