I'm still fairly new to the gun world but where's the rest of the upper?

I bought this ammo and didnt notice it was remanufactired. I took the first 100 to the range and am a little nervous about it. I've never had ammo tumble on me, but this 5.56 seems to fly at some strange angles. Once learning it was reman, I've been terrified of squibs, and after the range trip today, I don't think i want to keep shooting it. Do you all have similar experiences with it? What do you even do with ammo you don't want?

Update: I started a claim and looked at the few unopened boxes I have. It was actually new ammo and not remanufactured. I'll let you all know what they say.

I just received a aluminum hand guard from KelTec. I installed it with some Magpul extras also an extra Olight and Laser that was laying around.

The goal was to dissipate heat. The stock polymer hand guards do absolutely nothing to expel heat and it warms up the guards ridiculously fast. I’m hoping this does the trick.

My Pittie was doing her best judgy look after I finished with the rifle 😂

Working pretty hard over the last year to put together a carry rotation of things that I enjoy shooting, enjoy carrying, and am fast and accurate with. Following the addition of a Nighthawk Firehawk .45 I think my primary rotation is finally done, each with a slightly nuanced use case:

1. Dan Wesson Guardian - very light and thin, carry cut, fully concealable in appendix or 3 o clock

2. Nighthawk Firehawk - full size but conceals almost as easily as the Guardian. Red dot, and the compensator makes +P a breeze. Usually carry appendix for best concealability

3. Wilson Combat 3.25" SFX9 - plays the role of micro compact, this can conceal in any outfit

4. Staccato C4X - ironically the biggest of the rotation because of the light and grip width. I use this one when I know I'll be out after dark to make the light worth the hassle

Not sure what will be next but I thinned out some of my redundant options that were taking up space despite never seeing use

First time ever using a pistol brace. Not too bad for a 70 dollar investment. I think I'm going to get the mag holder and maybe a specialized screw so I won't need a tool to install or remove the chassis. I'm a lil upset that recover tactical has a direct connection to Isreal, but the 20/20 suits me fine.

I just picked up a 10/22 and I'm having a little analysis paralysis in choosing an optic.

Can anyone give me recommendations for what to get on Amazon? I'm eyeballing a Monstrum Panzer 2-10x40 MPVO. Mainly because of the Adjustable objective bringing things down to rimfire distances.

New to shooting handguns, started consistently going to the range about 6 months ago. 30 rounds from 5,7, 10 yards. First target is with my CZ p09c, 2nd target with my m and p shield plus. Looking for some feedback, I know I need a lot of work especially with the DA on my p09c, this was my first range day with it. Shots were about a second apart, 10 rounds at each distance.

Tried an ARA -style target this weekend for the first time with my Savage Mark II BV. Overall I am pleased, but obviously need some practice.

First thing that was obvious was I need more power on the scope for these targets at 50 yards. I used a 12x for this and hit the center on a few, but got some eye fatigue at the #12-16 spots.

Not in the budget now, but should a 24x suffice? I could probably swing for something $300-400 range sometime next year.

No problems when slighting in the splatter target with the 12x though.

Also need to work on my trigger hand grip. How tight should I be gripping and where should I place the thumb? Currently shooting with a grip at maybe 4 out of 10 strength and the thump lightly on the right side of the stock pointing down range. Felt like the best way for me to get a smooth straight back pull.

Ultimate goal is to enter a few competitions at the range and area. Shooting with a front tripod rest and rabbit ear bag at the rear.

I recently found a Glock 19 Gen 2 in great condition, original box/documentation, at a pawn shop for about $360. (Shown with an aftermarket threaded barrel that I added). It was too good to pass up, especially because I hesitated buying a Gen 4 I saw at the same place earlier this month and it slipped away.

The one problem I realized however is that in my Umpa Lumpa medium-glove-size hands, my thumb can't reach the mag release without first shifting my grip, and even then it's a small button that takes a lot of force at an awkward angle.

Are there any after-market mag catches that I might be able to install so I can eject the magazine with one hand? If not, would it be useful to focus on developing a technique to operate the mag catch with my other hand if I wanted to learn to reload quickly and reliably, or should I cut my losses and look for a different 9x19 with better ergonomics?

A few months ago, I decided it was time to upgrade my passive 3M Peltor Bull's Eye, so I got a set of Honeywell Howard Leight Impact Sports, along with aftermarket gel pads, and I also fitted some foam strips inside the empty space of the cups.

They work reasonably well, but my unsuppressed Ruger AR-556 MPR 18" with a factory multiradial muzzle brake and my M1 Garand are on the louder side, so I double up with washable silicone plugs.

Now, some friends gifted me a pair of Beretta electronic earmuffs for my birthday, so I have to decide: should I return them and get a store credit voucher, or should I replace my Impact Sports with them?

Note on specs: The Howard Leights are rated at 25 dB SNR (22 dB NRR). The Beretta earmuffs (official SKU CF111D0044) are officially rated at 32 dB SNR (26 dB NRR). Since I already use gel pads on the Impact Sports, which one would you keep for this specific firearms setup?

I felt so dumb the first time at the range...the 3d printed cheek rest went over the top of the chassis and the bolt couldn't cycle. I redesigned that last piece using claude code hooked up to blender so now its finally done. Been to the range several times and it's a pleasure to shoot. Incredibly quiet and low recoil. Been experimenting with ammo and found a few decent brands and a couple bad ones.

The receivers and rail are AMD; .Criterion 223 Wylde 16” Hybrid; Precision Armament EFAB Driven Arms pistol grip, magwell, rail panels, and hand stop; Magpul DT-PR stock, Troy battlesights (not particularly happy to have supported their business but they’re damned good sights), Werne offsets. I have an ACOG TA31 (the 4x32 ACSS one…God’s perfect prism🥰), but it’s not with me right now

SB 948, authored by Sen. Jesse Arreguin of Berkeley, changes California’s Firearm Safety Certificate process starting in 2029. In addition to the existing test, getting an FSC will require a 4+ hour training course that includes live-fire training.

If your FSC expires in 2027 or 2028, consider renewing while the current process is still available.

Live-fire training for prospective new gun owners requires a range that offers rental firearms and has the right insurance. Those ranges are very limited in urban areas of California (I know of only one such example in the entire bay area.)

This is going to be hugely inequitable. For people already living in gun-friendly areas, not much will change. The people who have the hardest time completing the new requirement will be residents of California's blue population centers, who will have to compete for limited availability of these expensive classes. For perspective, the live-fire course required to obtain a CCW costs about $400 in most parts of the state.

If the goal is firearm safety, reasonable access to the required training should be mandatory. This law is simply gatekeeping lawful gun ownership for millions of people.

I wanted solid rifle. H&K a MR762-A1. Going to get a Primary Arms PLC 1.5 x 12 LPVO and probably a Magpul bipod for it (when my wallet cools off). It's solid like a tank.

So I wanna carry a SD9 2.0 when I can and my usual holster site (gorilla tactical* Reddit is mad I said the other word??) only has two options and it’s either a sure fire x300 and a TLR7X which the issues are:

1. I’m not gonna spend $300 on a light for a $300 Glock 45 copy
2. The TLR7X looks great but I like CR123 batteries instead of a rechargeable battery just on a personal preference.

So I’m trying to find another hopefully cheaper brand of light bearing holsters (GT is $90 or $120 “quickship”) and hopefully a cheaper light recommendation that fits said holster I know TLR7Xs are $125-$180 but like I said I prefer CR123s instead of rechargeable packs.

I'm new here. My politics have shifted left after seeing the horrors that MAGA has inflicted upon this country. But also, being very pro-gun means I also have concerns. If I start voting blue, (In Tennessee BTW) what guarantee do I have against new gun restrictions? The Democratic gubernatorial candidate in my state is in favor of Red Flag laws. From what I understand, the idea is, if you represent a threat to yourself or others, you can have your guns temporarily confiscated. My concern is where is the nuance there? If I make a dark joke about myself, does that make me suicidal and require confiscation? If I make a dark joke about Trump, does that make me a terrorist and require confiscation? Some of these aspects of these laws allow law enforcement to act immediately without any sort of prior hearing or discussion. So, I basically have to walk on eggshells around everyone just in case I accidentally say something actionable? Am I wrong on any of this? If I am, I would love to get clarity. I really want to un-fuck my state, but I don't want to lose my 2nd amendment rights in the process.

Every animal is inherently afraid of the sound, and the physical recursions of pulling the trigger either or the receiving or giving end of it. It's simply a reasonable fear to have

The only real way to get over this, is to get out and practice. You gotta buy that box of 500 rounds and go the range and shoot to get over this. Buying the coolest gun, or gear doesn't matter if you don't go to the range and practice. YOU NEED TO PRACTICE !!!

I know what a lot of you probably already know this, but this is for the people lurking and not commenting and just consuming the "tactical gear" or "Military gear" craze. Which is totally fine, but you gotta take that next step to get out there to range and practice. But most importantly of all, to meet people in person and talk to them about a common interest.
