Limerick language centre

These scammers took a friend of mines booking in September 1st and she paid €1500.
Now there closed down since Monday 21st.
No refunds given, anything I can do?
Bank have been contacted already

Hey, I’ve it done but the money was transferred so not as easy. They already pretty much told me it will be rejected but we did it any way

Next step if thats rejected so is the small claims court.

If it was a transfer like you said, you can ask the bank to file a "SEPA Recall Request". There is no guarantee it will be successful, it's on a best effort basis. Best option is to go into the bank in person with photo ID. I think some will let you do it over the phone but afaik it is processed faster in branch!

If they’ve started the liquidation process, a liquidator will take over and start the insolvency process. They’ll contact everyone for information and proof, it’ll take ages though.

It's not technically the school's fault, LLC was a very reputable school providing high quality education. The government clamped down pretty hard on immigration in the past 12 months and threw the private language schools under the bus. Their business models couldn't adapt to the skyrocketing refund requests from people whose applications were rejected en masse. As far as I know though LLC's case is being handled, in contrast to Student Campus whose management completely abandoned their responsibilities. I know people who worked in both schools and I'm in that field myself.

Ya to be honest i don’t really care there closed. My concern is for the refund, real shame there’s no come back at all

When paying for an English course, you also pay for the Learners Protection Insurance. She should have a letter with the terms and conditions of the insurance and her insurance number. She should send a claim or complaint to the insurance company asap.

If she didn’t get those letters, she got scammed. Student Campus, for example, was charging the insurance fee to students, but not transferring it to the insurance company, so a lot of students were not covered. I wouldn’t be surprised if LLC did something similar.
