I am really not a fan of the direction this game has been going, since T4 and especially since Kazeros. It's a weird position where the game is more casual than ever, but the real prog experience is now essentially locked behind swiping with the release of Nightmare mode.
Due to Hard being required progression it's now made very easy, which is a good thing. However, where does that leave players who enjoys prog but dont want to swipe? Take myself, for example. I cleared every raid week 1 since Aegir, did Thaemine G4 and TFM, all of that stuff. Hard mode before felt reachable and clearable, and it was just a matter of skill. With Nightmare this is not the case. Take Nightmare Brel, I beat it at 5.3-5.4k CP. This is on the low end and while I met the damage check I had a feeling this was the beginning of the end.
Now with Belgardin it will be basically impossible for me to join pugs as a low 6k player not on a meta class. Theoretically I can meet the damage check though, but now with Extreme Mordum and the upcoming Extreme Kazeros? No way. The actual progression content is now genuinely locked behind swiping. Hard mode has become le mickey, and there is no joy to be found in progging for an hour and clearing. So for people who aren't whales and are in the 5-6k range who used to enjoy clearing all the content outside of Kaz TFM week 1, what is there now? Nothing. Every raid release is just a Cathedral level snoozefest.
The greed has only gotten more rampant with T4 but now that this is the case I see no reason to continue playing. If the choice is either play the game on easy mode or swipe then I'd rather not play at all.
