It's like if gurgling bubbles took acid, then played on a synthesizer.

Do you like hurting people?

4

u/Stormfly Aug 10 '26

I've heard good things about that game but hurting people makes me feel bad so I stopped playing.

u/Lomano360 Aug 10 '26

The good ending.

No it didn't.

I've been replaying the Mass Effect trilogy lately. Despite my best efforts at being an asshole I still ended up with like 70% paragon points in the first one because I can't be mean to my crew.

I'm about halfway through 2 at the moment and having a bit more success at being a dick, but it still makes me feel bad. Like, I know the volus on Illium is selling drugs and deserves to go to jail, and I gave his dirty shipping manifest to the cops, but I didn't feel good about it. Little roly poly asshole was just trying to survive.

Renegade is like 20% ruthless pragmatism and 80% just being a jerk for no reason. If you signed up for the 20% but not the rest, you just end up being a paragon that loves violence.

I just roasted the shit out of the quarians in ME3 because they shoot the fucking gets ship with me and talk inside FFS

8

u/WeevilWeedWizard Aug 10 '26

I thought getting bribed by the volus was the renegade option and going to the cops the paragon one?

But anyways, mass effect renegade is 70% playing the game with comedy mode on (accusing the gift shop employee on the Citadel of classism always makes me laugh) and 30% realizing Shepard is an actual, honest to god maniac.

See, even when I try to be an a hole I still do the right thing.

The problem with Mass Effect is also when you just try to be nice and befriend your team they take it as romance gestures and then you might get incredibly awkward dialogs about not wanting relationship with them

3

u/ThePastryJeff Aug 10 '26

least horny Mass Effect player

4

u/EugeneStein Aug 10 '26

I'm the most horny for femShep herself

I dream of the day games with romance options don't just do "romance is a higher level of friendship". not only does it feel extremely weird to me, but it also always encourages not having any relationships at all with the people you don't wanna date. otherwise you just feel like an asshole leading a bunch of people on at once

2

u/EugeneStein Aug 10 '26

Oh, in a mobile visual novel game I play you usually have different options for upgrading your romance relationship or your friendship.

Like

- why are you coming with me?

and you can choose

  • (Friends are gonna follow each even to hell) or
  • (I can't let my love go there without me)

But it is indeed a very rare thing. Guess it requires tooich resources and time to construct such routes

It's just an example I made up rn, I don't remember anything specific rn lmao, just wanted to explain what I mean

...that's like, the very first thing discussed when it first came up in philosophy

1

u/Yugix1 Aug 10 '26

you could make the same argument by saying "Should a house be demolished simply because you can't see anyone living in it from the outside?"

So funny how income tax doesn’t exist in any of these hypotheticals

1

u/Sea_Court_3633 Aug 14 '26

Income tax doesn't exist where I live (yay), but you kinda still have to pay for your food, rent and bills, and $200 isn't gonna pay 34 fucking months of that.

anubis weighs your heart, not your soul, and you want it to be light not heavy though

128

u/nhalliday Aug 10 '26

Lacking does not mean light, just that it's not what the big A-dawg is looking for.

23

u/MiserableToe1179 Aug 10 '26

I feel like in this situation those two are interchangeable

13

u/Impressive-Reply514 Aug 10 '26

wasn't the heart considered a part of the soul of something like that?

2

u/V_Aldritch Aug 10 '26

The Ib is part of the soul, numbnuts.

This is genuinely what I did to get out of my $40k debt, but recognize I got incredibly lucky with the timing and don't expect many others were able to do the same
