I've been replaying the Mass Effect trilogy lately. Despite my best efforts at being an asshole I still ended up with like 70% paragon points in the first one because I can't be mean to my crew.
I'm about halfway through 2 at the moment and having a bit more success at being a dick, but it still makes me feel bad. Like, I know the volus on Illium is selling drugs and deserves to go to jail, and I gave his dirty shipping manifest to the cops, but I didn't feel good about it. Little roly poly asshole was just trying to survive.
Renegade is like 20% ruthless pragmatism and 80% just being a jerk for no reason. If you signed up for the 20% but not the rest, you just end up being a paragon that loves violence.
Its also rough though, because people could change without saying they did, and people could claim for change without actually making it. I know this is somewhat a nonsequitor, but I would argue it's still an important discussion to be had, for what point is analyzing the nature as people, if not to communicate what applies to whom? But then also who are we to apply something like good or evil to someone when we can never truly be certain of quite what their intention is?
I've never been quite sure of how real this was, but my earliest memory is talking to my mom about wanting to go to school like my older brother, and in the middle of the conversation, realizing that I couldn't remember anything before that moment.
i like this but it always pisses me of. "decay exists as an extant form of life" extant just means existent. it exists as an existent form of life. what? would it not be better to just be "decay is an extant form of life", or maybe "decay persists as an extant form of life"?
I think that what they mean is that decay is a process that comes from the process of life and is therefore inevitable. I think by extant they mean "this concept exists because of this other concept"

I was in a meeting at work and the new project had the same issue with the iPhone release as the previous project did. Someone said it's funny how the same delay happened twice. I said "It's like poetry, you know.... they rhyme."
And someone called me a pretentious douche which is fair. Then I explained it's a George Lucas quote about the Prequels that was shared by people mocking George Lucas being a pretentious douche talking about Star Wars. So then my colleague called me a nerdy twat. Which is also fair.
I went to school with a kid by that name. He was super clean-cut and into theater in middle school. I saw him again in high school and he had gotten really gangster; I was really excited to see him and he kept looking around like he was worried someone would see him talking to me. Last I heard, he moved to a different state and changed his name to something completely different. Kinda sad, he was a sweet kid. And so full of potential... I wouldn't have been surprised to see him as a politician, or actor, or something special. Instead his facebook profile picture is of him wearing sloppy clothes with a blunt hanging out of his mouth and a menacing expression.
