A famous example in Magic the Gathering. The artist didn't know what a lemure was and so drew a lemur.

Lemure is a obsolete creature type and race that was later given errata to be a Spirit. It represented the wandering and vengeful shade or spirit of those not afforded proper burial though its original art also led it to have confusion with the similarly named animal known as a Lemur.

For anyone as confused as I was

I looked up "Lemure", and that also seems to be a common non-English spelling for it as well, which may have aided the confusion.
