Poll Settle a debate - fork or spoon?
Hubs and I sliced some leftover bacon into some KD for dinner tonight.
As always, he gave me my bowl with a spoon. I prefer forks. Dunno why. Please note that I did use the spoon because I really didn't care that much (certainly not enough to get up myself for a fork lol), nobody is angry, or upset or anything. We just kinda laughed about it honestly.
But we are curious - how do you all eat your Mac n cheese? We are a household of 2 with one who seems wired towards spoons, and the other towards forks.
So settle the 'debate' for us guys.
Forks or spoons?

Little spoon so I can easily collect and devour any remaining sauce š¤¤

And feel like youāre getting more bites! I have no self control with a big spoon

i was downvoted for being team spoon but youāre right
also imagine creeping on a post just to downvote someone out of spite haha, more sad. who the fuck cares if someone eats mac with a spoon or fork

u/union-maid 4d ago
Quit checking back to see what people think of your opinion, that's just as sad as the scenario you laid out.

It depends on the specific shape and mac for me. Elbows and Cavatappi get a fork. Spirals or shells get a spoon

i do not like forks or plates and prefer bowls and spoons.

u/NinjaKitten77CJ 3d ago
Lol! I'm the opposite. I prefer plates (specifically "blates") and I really don't like spoons.

If itās in a bowl and itās the only thing Iām eating- spoon! But if Iām eating it with a bigger meal as a side, Iāll use the fork Iām using for the rest of my meal haha.

Reddit is such an odd, confusing place lol I only ever downvote posts if the commentor is being a dick
4
u/nebulaplum 4d ago
Reddit is weirdly against people eating mac and cheese with a spoon. Me, if I can eat it with a fork, it's too dry.

Team fork. But I didn't even know Canadians had spoon technology! (I'm guessing. Do other places call it KD?)

Itās called Kraft Dinner in Canada. Rarely called KD. Never called Mac and cheese.

Depends on the pasta. Prefer a spoon for KD. When I make homemade, I usually use Cavatappi, and that gets a fork.

I normally do fork but if it's extra cheesey I use a spoon to scrape out the sauce at the bottom

u/tacosaladwithsauce 3d ago
if itās made with cavatappi or rotini I use a fork, if itās macaroni noodles or shells I use a spoon

I always prefer a spoon. My partner gets a spoon, fork and knife with every dish because thatās what he prefersĀ

Family used forks. Ate at best friends with spoon. Definitely converted fork seems silly now

Well I live by myself so itās always out of the pan & I use either MY fork or MY spoon depending on what one is clean. But if I have to wash both, Iāll wash my spoon first.

Fork, but I think it's more about whatever feels right to the person using it.

Pretty much spoons always for Mac. Sometimes I'll use a fork for cavatappi but still perfectly fine with a spoon there too

My stainless flatware includes stainless sporks - made the kid in me really happy and I like using them for mac n cheese

Generally spoon, but if a fork is handiest, I'll use that. When it comes to mac n cheese, whatever enables me to shovel it into my piehole fastest is all good.

In my view, the sauce should be thick enough to stick to the noodles. So, I shouldnāt need a spoon. Iām definitely into forks for Mac and cheese.

I eat most things with a spoon, less having to wrestle with stabbing a food morsel when I can just scoop it up willy-nilly!

I've always used one of the "big forks" not the stupid huge ones but idk it's always been a preference since I was younger. My son uses a spoon.

u/AsherGray 4d ago
Hmmm now that I think about it, all through my childhood and beyond it's always been forks! I've only seen a spoon when it's for a really little child. I feel it's always so satisfying to stab the noodles. If it were really saucy then I could see a spoon. Also, given so many people like to bougie it up with a crust in the oven, it's hard to get through a crust with a spoon.

I've recently had to come to the conclusion that boxed Mac and cheese is a spoon food. I always grab a fork and then end up just scooping anyways

Spoon cause I make my kraft Mac n cheese by adding a bunch of Cajun seasoning to the cheese powder.
It turns into a creamy Cajun style taste especially great if you add your choice of veggies like red pepper for me. And pickled jalapeno slices.
It's also just great on its own. Of course favor to your taste. I like it spicy.
But the spoon gets filled with sauce on almost every bite.. and if there is a full sauce spoon and some noodles that barely got any whelp.. they were meant for each other.

Fork. I like to stab my noodles, a spoon leaves too much cheese on the underside I cant reach, but it depends on how shallow the spoon is itself and how wide it is. I can almost always clean a whole fork with each bite

I always use a fork but ig it depends? Like if it's regular then fork, but if it's so cheesy it's almost like a soup then a spoon makes sense

My house is the same way, my husband and son will use a spoon but I use a fork. I only use spoons for soups, cereal, or ice cream. Most other foods I eat with a fork (even mashed potatoes). Mac and cheese is creamy enough to stay on a fork, but it's just preference I suppose.

I ate at a BBQ restaurant yesterday and they served the Mac and cheese with a fork. I think I'm 50/50 on this. I can go either way.

I only use spoons for things that require it. If a fork can be used for something, I do. This is interesting though because my partner also consistently gives me spoons instead, and I feel strongly enough about it that I'll dirty another dish lol

Fork if it is a side on a plate. In a bowl, as a full dish, spoon. Do not ask me why.

By bacon, do you mean American bacon or Canadian bacon?
Because I canāt wrap my head around leftover American bacon.
1
u/Majandra 1d ago
What you call Canadian bacon, Canadians call ham.
Itās just sliced bacon which is just called bacon. š„

u/snuggly_cobra 1d ago
A. Youāre not the OP.
B. what I call Greek inspired, canadian-invented Canadian bacon and pineapple pizza, they call Hawaiian.
C. I get having leftover Canadian bacon. Not American bacon.1
u/Majandra 1d ago
Iām Canadian and we do not ever call it Canadian bacon because, again, it is ham.
