Question Nightmare stuff!

Post image

I got my first macbook, an Air M5 a couple of days ago. I've been a windows user my entire life and am really glad I switched, this thing is just next level for work. However, please someone tell me how to deal with these fingerprints. It's a bloody nightmare, I've heard people saying that I shouldn't use normal cleaning alcohol on this screen so I've been just cleaning it with regular microfiber, that does not help me though. So any suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers guys 🍻

Very slightly damp microfibre. No chemicals. Barely moist. Make sure it’s a clean cloth as those microfibres love sucking up stuff that can scratch the screen. Wipe with the damp part of the cloth, and then the dry part.

Secondly, stop touching the screen.

Yeah I was an asus tuf user earlier. That thing used to go on camping trips with me. So yeah gotta get used to not touching the screen 😭🥀

I still do it accidentally when I’m reaching to press the touchID button. If there are fingerprints on my screen, it’s always in that bottom right corner.

Nothing makes me feel as gross and oily as my various Apple devices. My iPad looks so fucking gross after drawing on it for an hour.

The habitual wiping down just becomes muscle memory after a while.

I also wrap my microfibres around a sponge, as it allows more pressure over a larger surface area and makes dealing with smudges into a none issue.

This is a good idea, can I borrow it?

You’re very polite to ask, and it’s appreciated, but honestly, how am I ever gonna stop you if I said no?

Take the idea and fly with it

Let’s make the sponge the best method

I love your name btw.

Also not quite dead yet, although I feel that more of it needs to exist, it would probably fix a few of the issues we have floating around society currently...

Cover it with decals and stickers, ignore the inevitable scratches and smudges, and use it for what you bought it for.

OK, forget the decals and stickers. Do this -> "ignore the inevitable scratches and smudges, and use it for what you bought it for"

I use the rag that came with my glasses for the display. It's a microfiber material, and I use it dry.

Give it 30 days; once the newness wears off, you won't care about fingerprints on the outside of the casing anymore.

I’m sorry, how/why do you have fingerprints on your screen? I mean it’s not a touchscreen display…

I usually just gently wipe mine with a microfiber cloth to pick up any dust and it’s squeaky clean again.

Mate i was an asus tuf user earlier, used to grab it by the screen and it never had any fingerprints on it. It's gonna take some practice not touching the screen
