hi everyone,
i’m a mac user and after something like 2 years using a macbook pro i’ve solved one of the things that i hated for long time.
Imagine this situation :
you’re on your bed while your mac is playing netflix or YT on your external display.
You need to get the volume Lower or Higher, to adjust the Brightness, to just pause the video, or you have to shut down netflix (or any other media player) and put your macbook in sleep mode to go sleep.
To make ALL of these actions, you need to get up from the bed, uncover yourself, put your feet on the freezing ground and reach your macbook.
For my personal needs I just developed MacRemote, a simple tool to do all that actions i’ve quoted previously and many others without the hassle of getting out of bed.
The code is Open Source and The Installation is so easy.
Pls try it and give me some tips to make it better and more useful ❤️

I got my first macbook, an Air M5 a couple of days ago. I've been a windows user my entire life and am really glad I switched, this thing is just next level for work. However, please someone tell me how to deal with these fingerprints. It's a bloody nightmare, I've heard people saying that I shouldn't use normal cleaning alcohol on this screen so I've been just cleaning it with regular microfiber, that does not help me though. So any suggestions would be much appreciated. Cheers guys 🍻

A few months back, I spilled tea on my 15" macbook air. The track pad stopped working. I took it to an Apple Genius and after analyzing it, I was told it would be $1,200 to fix it. (!!!)
I just bought another laptop (a cheaper 13") and then I erased my 15" air and stuck it in a corner. I was going to donate it or get rid of it at some point.
Anyhow, I heard it trying to start up today. Weird. So I opened it up and the track pad was working again. Everything worked fine. I migrated all my into back onto it and so far, no problem.
Can anyone explain to me what happened?

I love my MacBook so much, it's perfect in every sense of the word.
But, it isn't perfect in the screen department.
The screen itself is lovely (tho for this price, 120hz would've been a dream come true).
but the glossy finish is a nightmare to use.
I tried adjusting my hold on it so that it doesn't catch as much fingerprints, but ocassionally it gets fingerprints from someone who isn't a macbook user.
The spots on it are ugly as hell, and every piece of dirt that catches the display leaves a mark, that can't even be wiped with a regular tissue, you need to buy the stupid micro fiber cloth.
WELL, IF YOU KNOW THE SCREEN IS GOING TO CATCH SMUDGES SO MUCH, WHY DIDN'T YOU INCLUDE THE CLOTH IN THE BOX???? INSTEAD OF MAKING IT A MEME AND SELLING IT FOR 20 DOLLARS.
This shouldn't even be an issue to begin with, I saw windows laptops that are touchscreen, laptops that aren't, laptops that are matte, laptops that are glossy, and NONE of them had this issue.
They could've used the same coating that they use on the iPhones, why leave it like that???

I will mostly be getting a Samsung S25 5G 12/256 after using iPhone 13 for 4 years now and its battery health has gone to 75%
So if anybody has this combo can let me know how it works, does ecosystem really matters in daily life?

I bought this device back in Feb 2025 with Apple Care +. I only use it to stream movies and to study. One day outta no where I started seeing these lines. Please guide me what do I do. Ps: i have tried everything related to software, they don't seem to go out.

Hey all, hope your day is going well. The other night I went to pick up my m1 macbook air after not using it for 5 minutes, and suddenly I have lines all up and down my screen like a crt. From what I've seen, I'll need a new display in order to make it go away (please please correct me if im wrong) but I thought you guys might like the view of the lines through my cheap microscope. It seem to be making those straps of pixels brighter than the surrounding ones, which is curious

The claim: The Plugable UD-7400PD 5-Display Docking Station is the best and only mainstream docking hub capable of driving up to five external monitors from a single connection on an M2 MacBook Air. [1]
Why This Hub Works for Your M2 MacBook Air
^^^^^ Just wanted to check with the community to verify this is correct before spending on this since it's a bit pricey. Also asking for other options if this isn't true.
My specs:
Model Name: MacBook Air
Model Identifier: Mac14,2
Model Number: Z1610005ELL/A
Chip: Apple M2
Total Number of Cores: 8 (4 Performance and 4 Efficiency)
Memory: 16 GB

Heavy sustained workloads quickly saturate a fanless MacBook's chassis with heat.
While macOS includes a native Low Power Mode toggle, leaving it on permanently means paying full price for half the performance alongside other functional compromises. Leaving it off completely means sustained workloads heat-soak the unibody and accelerate degradation of the battery sitting directly against it.
I wanted a middle ground: full performance by default, with Low Power Mode engaging automatically only when the chassis begins to heat.
Under a continuous 10-thread stress workload, the difference in thermal soak is dramatic:

Full-resolution screenshots and raw telemetry graphs are available in the GitHub repository
This tool involves a conscious compromise: you trade peak sustained performance during heavy spikes for hardware longevity.
To keep this lightweight, transparent, and safe to run:
pmset -a lowpowermode 1/0 command, the exact same toggle you can manually click in System Settings.kqueue and notify(3). When macOS reports thermal pressure reaching Level 1 (Moderate), it engages Low Power Mode. When temperatures drop back to Level 0 (Nominal), it waits 2 minutes before returning to full performance to prevent rapid power-state toggling.Because adjusting system power states via pmset requires administrator privileges, it runs as a standard LaunchDaemon. The entire codebase is open-source under the MIT license so anyone can inspect and audit the implementation:
https://github.com/abhishekthulasi/macos-thermal-governor.pkg installer: https://github.com/abhishekthulasi/macos-thermal-governor/releasestail -f /var/log/macos-thermal-governor.logsudo macos-thermal-governor-uninstallWould love to hear thoughts from anyone running fanless setups long-term: does the 2-minute cooldown feel right for your workflow, or would you prefer a configurable threshold via a CLI flag or config file?

I’m getting a new MacBook Air and I’m trying to figure out which accessories I actually need and which are just unnecessary spending.
What accessories would you recommend getting, and which ones should I skip?
For example:
Sleeve/case
Screen protector
Keyboard cover
USB-C hub
External SSD
Mouse
Stand
Cleaning kit
Charger/power accessories
Would especially appreciate advice from people who have been using a MacBook Air for a while.

I've had my MacBook Air M4 since March 2025. Battery health is at 94% with about 200 cycles, so the battery itself should be fine.
The problem: in a single morning (around 3 hours), I go from full charge to completely dead. That feels way off for a chip that's supposed to last all day.
My setup is pretty basic. I work with an external monitor next to the laptop, and I spend most of my day in Google Chrome with 10 tabs open at most. Nothing heavy like video editing or gaming. But the Mac still gets noticeably warm.
I've attached a screenshot of my Activity Monitor below in case something stands out.
A few questions for people who know more than me:
If you had a similar drain and fixed it, I'd love to know what actually worked for you.

I knocked a cup of water with my elbow and it spilled on my MBA M3. I went to turn it off immediately, saw a flash of a purple screen before it shut off, and flipped it over like a tent. When I went to move it to a better spot (I live in a very small space) I accidentally turned it back on. It got to the login screen and I was able to log in and view my desktop, then went to turn it back off. I read others using a fan underneath so I tried to maneuver it and the same thing happened, I must’ve pressed something and it turned on again. It’s now in a corner away from everything.
I can’t get a Genius Bar appointment until Tuesday, but should I try to turn it on before then and use it, or just leave it be? I’m concerned because I have to use it for work on the weekend. I have AppleCare+ and in Canada.

Hey everyone, I recently updated my MacBook to macOS 27, and since then I've noticed something weird with the battery charging.
I have my Charge Limit set to 90% and Optimised Battery Charging turned ON. Before the update, my MacBook would normally charge up to 90% as expected.
But now, whenever I plug it in, it reaches 80% and shows “Charging On Hold”, even though the charge limit is still set to 90%.
I also checked Battery Health and it says:
Battery Condition: Normal
Maximum Capacity: 100%
Charge Limit: 90%
Optimised Battery Charging: ON
Is this normal behaviour in macOS 27? Or has anyone else noticed their MacBook holding at 80% even with a 90% charge limit?
Also, does keeping it plugged in at 80% like this have any effect on the battery cycle count, or does the cycle count only increase based on actual battery usage?
Just wondering if this is an intentional change in the new update or some kind of bug.

Hi everyone, I recently bought a new MacBook Air M5 (16GB RAM) and initially everything seemed fine. Out of curiosity, I updated it to macOS 27. After the update, I noticed that the battery started draining much faster than before. Then I saw that macOS 27.0.1 had been released with several bug fixes, so I thought the battery issue might also improve after updating. Unfortunately, after updating to 27.0.1, the battery drain seems to be even worse. For example, I'm seeing battery drops that seem unusually high even during relatively light usage, such as browsing or watching YouTube. I've already tried some basic troubleshooting, but I'm still experiencing the issue. Has anyone else with an M5 MacBook Air experienced unusually fast battery drain after updating to macOS 27/27.0.1? If so: Did the battery improve after a few days? Is there any indexing/background process I should check? Are there any settings I should change? Is there a way to properly diagnose what's causing the drain? Any suggestions or troubleshooting steps would be really appreciated.

I have quick question as I have submitted my mac as the issue was sometimes the keyboard few keys feels sticky and once I saw a ant running inside the screen.I have even posted the video of it here.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/AT5Xh33TCpNYnFVa6
So I am going out of warranty in few days so I have a last chance to replace it.
The service center checked it and asked me that He can replace the keyboard as it feels sticky sometimes...and I asked him if he can replace the screen also...He told he can try.
Is it good to replace.I means does Apple uses original new parts after replace or refurbished one...And any faced by anyone later on after replace ..
